Years later, the once remote and impoverished Xiushui Village has transformed into the renowned Xiushui City, the most famous place on the Shifang Continent. All of this was due to one thing—Xiushui Village became the birthplace of the continent’s top sect, Lingxian Sect.

This is the story of a group of village boys, their family, and friends as they band together to build a sect and grow stronger together.

Lin Xiao: As the sect master, Lin Xiao finds himself constantly juggling the many tasks of running a sect. Cultivating, however, often gets in the way of managing the sect’s development.

System: “Understood. Message received. We’ll handle it right away.”

Lin Xiao: “Oh no, I’m out of spirit stones.”

System: “Understood. Message received. We’ll handle it right away.”

Follow Lin Xiao and his friends as they embark on their journey to cultivate, face challenges, and build a sect from the ground up. Together, they turn a humble village into the heart of the continent’s most powerful force.

This is a fun read I would definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys slice of life cultivation stories. While the slice of life and sect management are the primary focus, it doesn't just skip over the cultivation aspects, even if they're watered down a bit.

Something else this story does relatively well is setting up plot points that aren't immediately resolved by the protagonist stumbling into the solution one chapter prior. That's not to say the protagonist doesn't have the solution when needed, but you won't see him trip over a... more>> fruit labeled "use in case of Angry-Cultivator-A" and then in the next chapter meet Angry-Cultivator-A who's upset his rare fruit went missing. At least, not as the standard.

Perhaps the part of this I most dislike is the side characters. Aside from the protagonist who, as the title says, is only 12 when he forms his sect, I feel too many of the focus characters are too young. It isn't really a major issue, but they're too competent for how young they are and it feels a bit silly whenever their age comes up. There's also a fair bit of perspective switching I'm not a huge fan of, but at the time it felt more like an issue of pacing than anything else.

The final point I want to touch on is the translation. Overall, it's quite good. There are however fairly consistent issues with the names of things. Like the surname Bai could be translated as White when it would make more sense to just be Bai. Or Xiushui Village sometimes becoming Shoushui Village, then switching back. I wouldn't say it's bad translating, but perhaps just forgetting whether something was translated into its pinyin spelling or translated into English. Or in cases like Xiushui vs Shoushui, spelling it more like how it's pronounced (as far as I can tell). So, confusing in a way that makes sense? <<less
