Descent so far, but the direction isn't quite clear yet.

Basically a bunch of people suddenly turned into fantasy races (some TS but not all) and some of them have had their behaviour influenced (e.g. The protagonist particularly likes sunlight and sweet foods), and the country tries to manage it, but there is some predictable friction (public attention and crime against transformed people, workplace discrimination, etc.).

So far the novel covers the way the protagonist adapts to the situation, including both the physical differences from species and gender, and the emotions and... more>> insecurities that come with it.

But I can't tell what the novel will focus on going forward. It could just be daily life, or it could be social issues, they might (belatedly) get appropriate powers for their transformations (and then either use them for society, based on their respective traits (possibly in a fantasy style conflict), or the whole thing could be a precursor to a common gate / tower fantasy, although any of the options leaning towards action seem unlikely), or it could even go into romance, and even then it's not clear if it'll be towards a guy or a girl (although respective candidate characters for either direction have been introduced already - it's just a question of whether the novel will go that way and which of those ways).

I'll probably update this review with a rating if and when a bunch more chapters have been released. It's fine so far, but on the other hand an aimless story can lose tempo, so if there's no direction soon it'll need significant situational humour to compensate. <<less
