Lin Zhiyu died, realizing in his final moments that his suffering was because he was just a cannon fodder in a wealthy family’s story. In the novel “The Fake Daughter is Spoiled to Heaven,” the fake daughter, Ruan Jiaojiao, is the protagonist. After being spoiled by the Zhao family, she struggled when the real daughter returned. Her confession to Lin Zhiyu failed, causing her to break down and run away. She then miraculously met her true, powerful family, who retaliated against those who hurt her.

Soon after, the Zhao family, who loved Ruan Jiaojiao, was destroyed, and Lin Zhiyu, blamed for rejecting Ruan Jiaojiao and causing her to run away, faced the most vicious revenge. His family went bankrupt, his parents and sister met tragic ends, and he was slandered, transforming from a beloved figure to a despised one. Expelled from school, he was abducted by the Ruan family, mutilated, and turned into a “freak show” at an underground casino in Southeast Asia. He endured this hell for three months before finally dying.

However, no one expected that the vengeful ghost of Lin Zhiyu, who died with eyes wide open, would be reborn.

Lack luster story telling and less than average execution of events.

The author initially had a compelling revenge story to tell but due to their limited literary talent, the story fell flat. The novel ended with a superficial punishments for the villains and forced love story without chemistry for the leads.

For me, its a forgettable read.

MC: Lin Zhiyu

ML: Xie You Zhou

I rate it 2.8/5.

... more>> This novel is OK. Romance, Revenge, Career Advancement, etc, . Is all Average. Nothing remarkable but not too bland too. MC & ML both are reborn. Romance is slow, ML had a one-sided crush on MC for a long time while MC realised his feeling quite later in the novel. ML is OP as he had already avenged MC in his previous after MC's death.

To be honest I couldn't fully immerse myself into this novel while reading it. Why? Because reading it made me once again realise that just how the Chinese Government is manipulating it citizens! Two of their manipulation tactic is through teaching Chinese citizens their version of History of China and citizens believe 100% of whatever lies they are taught and restricting writers to write according to state approved values and censoring whatever they find 'harmful to the society'.

Throughout the novel you'll read all kind of ULTRANATIONALIST and CHAUVINIST content here and there. For this to happen, the Author must really believe these things or the Author wanted their novel to be approved by state so bad that they wrote all these things.

And this, seriously distracted me. The whole novel SCREAMED manipulation to me!

How MC was praised again and again for giving up the patent to all his research to government.

How a Chinese who now resides in a foreign country was subtly looked down upon (poor Hua Yantang, I think this was his name).

How it was shown that all foreign media and foreigners are anti-Chinese or look down on them.

How other countries have government who actively legalise dangerous drugs, have corrupt officials, are unsafe and dangerous while China abhors drug use, has righteous & good officials (mostly) , etc, . Etc, .

And there is a country which is specially disliked in the novel, a place called 'Country M' also called 'United States' in the Novel.

As a Psychology student and a HUMAN, I couldn't help but feel pity and sympathy for my fellow humans (Chinese here) whose worldview have been forcibly restricted and shaped according to how the Chinese Government wants them.

I'm sorry if you read all the above hoping for review of the novel's plot. But I really couldn't help it. I wanted to find a place to rant about all this. So here I am. <<less

Good points: no dubcon bet MC-ML. The ML seems like a puppy wagging his tail for MC

Downside: Common revenge story. Chara are somewhat 2D. The villains are really unreasonable. It's been a while since I've read something like this. 🤧

This novel is pretty good at raising your blood pressure. My anger + annoyance level was constantly high throughout the novel. There's some satisfying face slaps and sweetness but honestly this book is all about the drama! I love watching people fight!

Although the characters (mobs and mains) are 2D and extremely exaggerated, it's bearable. Things just keeps happening and it's a fun ride. The antagonists are the Ruan family who appears to be foreign (not in china) the FL's suitors (around 3 people?) and the ML is a wolfdog type... more>> who was in the military and got reincarnated again to help the MC. He shows up pretty early in the novel, you can't miss it. <<less

It's a great novel. But I think this novel can be shorter if we skip some useless chapter.

Spoiler

The villain ending is quite good. But the main villain (Fake daughter) ending isn't very satisfying. Even though the main problem came from the fake daughter. But I think the retribution for other villain are better than the main villain. In my opinion, since the fake daughter are all the cause of those mess, it's better to make her suffer more than other villain. Also I feel that MC isn't very OP and the one who OP is the ML. Without ML, I don't think MC revenge will suceed. It's good to got help from ML, but with how OP the ML is, it will make the ML got the 'main character' vibes more than the MC. Besides this problem, the overall this novel is good.

I'll give this 5 stars but I'm still recovering.

Spoiler ahead, biased, take it lightly.

First few chapters gave me high blood pressure I wish I could forget Ruan Jiaojiao, this whole thing deserves a trigger warning, I had to skim instead of reading until ML shows up @ chapter 8. I'm holding into the hope that good triumphs over evil because so far Lin Zhiyu had done nothing to deserve this.

It was said because MC was a cannonfodder in the past life to showcase how powerful the other side was (now that I think about it, this reminds me of the OG-SVSS (those who know, know) if MC was a cannon fodder the MC of the previous life is just awful).

Lin Zhiyu deserves a normal life, prior and after regression Ruan and its ilk (I'm calling it an IT because its such an awful character) is evil and not in a good way, I hope we get a satisfying face slapping.

I thought I could stomach reading it but noooo I just did a skim read and turned off my comprehension until the graphic descriptions were gone.

If you're reading this you probably already want a spoiler anyways

I recommend skipping until chapter 7 you might get lost a little bit but if you're the type to get trauma from reading skip to when the ML arrives chapter 8.

At this point I just want happiness for Lin Zhiyu.

Spoiler

I adore the first commenter 'The villains are really unreasonable.' because oh boy, nothing prepared me how unreasonable it was, villains need to be thrown into burning lava inside an active volcano.

Even the OG 'The Fake Daughter is Spoiled to Heaven' MC is already the Villain.

Translation: (4/5 stars) Translation was good with minor inconsistencies. There were quite a few misgendering instances with the characters, which for the newly introduced characters made it hard to decide if they were male and female. It was still 100% understandable though.

Character development: (4/5 stars) I really did not see much in terms of character development outside of the MC coming to understand his feelings and the MC’s dad not fighting his and the ML’s relationship. The author did an excellent job in keeping the characters ‘in-character’.

Plot: (4/5 stars) For... more>> a story that centers around the idea of a reborn MC avenging himself, he really didn’t do all that much avenging. He did avenge himself for stolen research, but most of the revenge on his enemies was carried out by the ML. MC was mostly the poster boy for ‘the best revenge is living well’ outside of him reacting to outside threats. ML on the other hand meticulously planned on how he was going to avenge his ‘gege’ which really helped to stay in track on the story. I do appreciate how everyone got their just desserts though.

Novel overall: (4/5 stars) This was a great read, but it definitely has some very dark concepts regarding drug use, mutilation and torture. <<less

Couldn't finish it. Really weak characterisation and too much time on an unpleasant and really uninteresting villain family.

The one "strength" is that it does a great job at the start of showing just how scarily sickening this villain family are. You understand really well just to what sick extremes they will go to in order to literally torture and destroy all the innocents who the villainess sets them on, and all of their families as well, and you really feel the horror of it.

But that's about all it's doing well.... more>> After an initial decent start, we're hardly getting any insight into the MC's thoughts, feelings and intentions at all. We get reams of internet reactions in favour of this villain and against this innocent and then switching when they learn the truth, on repeat. We get boring scenes about the villain family either being generally successful or saying "our poor niece" and "let's make them pay." But we don't really get a lot of time to just stay with the MC and those around him and really feel like we're getting to know any of them. It feels more like a plot summary of an episode you missed. I don't dislike the MC or most of the "good" characters, but I don't get enough time with them to like them either.

And then there's the ML. He loses points with me to start with because I personally often struggle with the puppy seme/young wolfdog gong type, but this one is being intentionally cutesy and childish with the MC in a way that is really cringey and not really likeable.

Additionally, he's sorta conveniently OP in ways so that he's always three steps ahead of the villains... but therefore is basically doing everything in the story and there's not much really left for the MC to do. aeven though he devoted, it's not really giving that doting ML fluffy warm vibes though, it's not that kind of story. It's more like low-key manically obsessed vibes so far.

...

Anyway, I've had enough of this, but who might like it?

I can't really recommend it in good conscience, but perhaps people who like the puppy/wolfdog ML type, who just like stories where they see truly sickening villains having the tables turned and don't care to much about characterisation and details. <<less

3.8 it's too harsh I can with 3.9 and maximum 4.0, Although the pacing is somewhat rushed and a bit not smooth in the first part of the novel, but after u keep reading it, it became more ok, I agree that our MC somewhat became a shadow and the focus is more of abusing the villain, and more about the conclusion that MC world no longer tied with og-FL. Actually the synopsis is interesting but the execution not that good thatls why if u ignore all the bad things... more>> the maximum rating is just 3.9-4.0 for me <<less

Very plain and lacking in... Well almost everything one may look for in a novel of this genre. The plot, characters, relationships (even stuff like face slapping) etc was all just very... lacking.

It really could've been so much better considering the concept... Sigh, disappointed

Overall it's a nice, easy, feel good novel just...a little flat.

It is a lot like "Rebirth of a Cannon Fodder from a Novel" from the same author - ... more>>
Spoiler

favorite daughter crashed MC on her way to the top in the first life and failed miserably in the second, facing hatered of family members, disfigurement and psychosis. MC is fighting against powerful white lotus halo, but thanks to his OP golden-finger-boyfriend everything goes seamlessly (it also kinda makes face-slaps unsatisfying)

[collapse]

Also I know that not everyone care about it, but non-age-gap age gap strikes again •__•

Spoiler

MC deid in early 20, ML lived to 40 in the first life and both were reborn. I guess the only upside is - compared to the first book ML at least physicaly younger and never expressed any fascination by MC's youthful behavior

[collapse]

So, in the end, it feels like cleaner version of the first novel. It's a lot healthier both romantically and in amount of gruesome scenes. But because it was done by just subtracting and not actually improving, this novel just has less substance.

Just to be clear am talking about to completely different novels. They are from the same author, but aren't connected. <<less

4 stars

Warning: this novel does contain graphic descriptions of cruelty, particularly in the first few chapters. It has a scene of self harm in extra 1 (as far as I got), just a sentence, but thought I'd mention it.

Ok, so I did like the general flow of the novel. I like face slapping, and there was that, but on a bigger scale, like business-wise. The MC is very smart, and I really felt broken from what he went through. However, as other readers pointed out, ML did the brunt of... more>> the "revenge."

The reason I gave it 4 stars is that I have a hard time swallowing that an 18 year old ML is part of a special forces team, is also a genius hacker on the dark web, as well as savvy businessman. It can happen, bit mostly, I've only seen this in danmei.

MC is also a genius researcher who is already writing papers and selli g patents at 22. Wow, give me some your water, guys!

The romance is probably a 3.5 for me. Not super impressed. However, they do have their moments that I liked, but it was few and far between.

To be honest, I enjoyed the revenge plot more than I did the romance. Those parts weren't boring for me. <<less

This was a good novel and worth the read. The thing that gets me interested about these novels is the resolutions that they come up with for revenge. This is on my good to read again list. It is short and sweet.

this novel never disappoint in making my blood boil and rise. I read this thinking I could stomach its dog-blood and revenge plot, I was wrong.

I dropped this around chapter 54 cause the OG Protagonist being sht to the point it has gotten on my nerves, where the MC and ML have already confessed their feelings and is really thriving. No sht, IT IS WORTH THE WAIT. I may have glossed over their age gap, considering that I forgot MC's age I sincerely cannot remember. With their chemistry, they sure... more>> are thriving with their relationship.

With the villains, they good af. I liked them as villains at first until the OG Protagonist was frequently mentioned—this white lotus, green tea biatch really believes that everyone should bow down to her and kiss her feet. Biatch cries everytime she is mentioned and always questions where did things go wrong. Girl, as that one commenter said "i can give you a list. Would you prefer it sorted alphabetically or by date?"

this is the first time I really hated a character. Previously, I was expecting that "it shouldn't be that bad". NO! It's soo soo bad! That Ruan JiaoJiao is just so arrgghhh!! This biatch caused a gruesome torture, downfall, and downright wrongful consequence for those who 'wronged' her when she's just an ungrateful, s*upid, naive, can't accept a rejection bish. She shouldn't have just ended like that. It's too lacking. She should've experienced all the things that she caused because of her idiocracy. But no, it seems the author glossed over her hypocrisy. But it's okay. Death is also fine.

anyways, if you ignore that bish, the story REALLY GREAT. It's not the best but it's great. It's just the right amount of dog-blood plot and it justifies the revenge plot. The main characters were also good, they have a great chemistry especially with them focusing on their careers while still being able to prioritize each other. Though, this story might have a lacked a bit in terms of all its characters. It focused a lot on the main characters that the other characters seemed to be just bystanders and was simply there to highlight the main characters, with no whatsoever major developments.

overall, it's a fun read. They do mention a lot of medicines (or was it a fictional medicines) that I can't understand, but still, it's good. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! <<less
