Interesting premise, but the story lacks focus. It constantly tries to introduce a bunch of forgettable orphans that the MC has saved as characters. However the author always ends up making these orphans more of an obstacle holding the MC back rather than likable characters helping the MC.

The MC constantly wants to save innocent people but then he's stopped by the orphan side characters because they threaten to stay with him which would most likely cause their death so he hesitates but always ends up doing saving people anyways but... more>> nothing happens, the orphans still help him in an impossible to win battle and nobody dies. What's the f*cking point of a whole chapter of contemplating if he's going to take a risky option and literally nothing bad happens. It's also written in a way where you can predict that nothing bad will ever happens.

The MC himself is characterized as an idiot who fights for honor/justice because he likes cultivation novels, what? Cultivation novels are brutal af, sure there are some justice but they don't give a sh*t about common people 90% of the time. Either way the MC just feels like a beta Japanese MC who's indecisive, at the very least he kills bandits but that's about it.

As for the plot it's already shaping up to be one of those all these strong/competent genderbent historical figures are going to become obsessed with the MC and fight each other over him. Plus a side of dumbass unnecessary misunderstandings, like him sitting down to meditate and stabilize his qi but one of the main heroine thinks he feels bad about killing the bandits and is praying for them? How tf can you mistake meditating with praying or feeling bad for the bandits. The misunderstanding is just pulled out of the author's ass for no reason whatsoever. <<less

Honestly, I would take the time to read a few more chapter than the people who wrote the other reviews.

While scathing, and somewhat accurate for around the first 13 chapters, once it reaches the arc right after, the author addresses the concerns regarding his wishy washy sense of justice, along with him dragging his band of orphans along with him, with there being actual consequences that the MC has to work through. The story seems to be MC journey towards finding his own sense of justice, and becoming an actual... more>> hero in his own right. While it isn’t the greatest, I think it’s a solid 7 or 8 out of 10, So I’d suggest disregarding the score and reading more chapters to determine whether it’s your cup of tea.

Spoiler

Also, the stuff about it moving towards the usual gender bend obsession stuff is kinda true, but at this point in Korean novels I’m kinda ok with it, so to each their own

Honestly I thought the review above was just the rant of someone who cynically didn't like righteous characters, but no, other than a shallow sense of righteousness and a strong body the mc's got nothing going for him. Since his sense of righteousness is shallow he delays his actions until things force him into action where that delay puts him and those around him into more unfavorable positions than if he had acted from the beginning. He's so thoughtless that Lu Bu's advice or instruction is like Liu Bei receiving... more>> advice from Zhuge Liang. I've already mentioned his delays in action but we're only 11 chapters in and he's already established a pattern of acting only after everything goes bad. Meanwhile the author spends most of entire chapters having the characters moralize like shonen protags instead of doing anything.

Don't get me wrong. I love righteous characters but this one is literally sacrificing everyone around him (if the author would actually let them die) for a shallow righteousness and his reticence and lack of proactivity makes it even harder to read. Otherwise I have to agree with what was said by the other reviewer. This was just bad. <<less
