Qiao Han has transformed into a supporting villain in a cultivation novel, replacing an engagement and becoming the companion of the male lead, Xiao Jiuci. However, at a critical moment in Xiao Jiuci’s downfall, Qiao Han cruelly abandons him.

Xiao Jiuci is handsome and talented, a shining new star in the immortal sect, but he suddenly falls from grace and becomes a target of everyone’s scorn. After enduring numerous hardships, he climbs back from the abyss to the peak, remaining true to his original intentions, consistently embodying a gentle and resolute character.

Seeing such a good person suffer through life’s trials, Qiao Han is dissatisfied. Facing the top male lead of his heart, he decides to rebel against the system and alter the storyline.

Goal: Help the beautiful, strong, and tragic male lead walk the path of a dragon rising to the heavens!

System: Warning! Warning! Serious warning! You are a supporting villain and must execute the mission.

Qiao Han: Come on, that’s my idol! How can my idol suffer?!

Fortune, beauties, rare treasures… All of them are his!

Others: Qiao Han, so ingratiating, clearly just using you to rise up.

Xiao Jiuci: He is my nominal companion.

Others: Qiao Han might like you.

Xiao Jiuci: He said he doesn’t like men; he sees me as a brother.

Others: Qiao Han is definitely deeply in love with you.

Xiao Jiuci: … Then why did he want to dissolve the marriage contract?

Soon, Qiao Han’s identity is questioned.

Others: He’s guilty!

Xiao Jiuci: He’s just trying to hide his feelings for me.

Others: He has issues!

Xiao Jiuci: He’s jealous, throwing a tantrum, deliberately trying to get my attention to force me to respond.

Others: He has ulterior motives towards you!

Xiao Jiuci: … If he has ulterior motives, so what? I’m not stopping him…

Others: … Please rein in that love-struck brain!

Finally, the crucial moment arrives. Xiao Jiuci must choose between two women at the edge of a cliff. Qiao Han, pretending to be the villain, kidnaps the two women most important to Xiao Jiuci. According to the original plot, this is supposed to escalate the tension, but as a devoted fan, Qiao Han absolutely won’t let his idol suffer.

Qiao Han, covering his face: “You can only choose one.”

Xiao Jiuci’s expression darkens, losing his usual warmth. According to what Qiao Han knows about him, he is genuinely angry.

Qiao Han: “Hmph, you could also choose both, as long as you give me…”

“Whichever, it doesn’t matter.”

“Ah?”

The two accomplices playing along: ???

“Whatever you want, Shixiong (senior brother) will give it to you. Don’t stand on the edge, it’s dangerous,” Xiao Jiuci says, his gaze falling on Qiao Han’s hand resting on the shoulders of the two women, his voice low and hoarse, like a sword hinting at being unsheathed: “Come here to Shixiong.”

Seeing the dark clouds in his senior brother’s eyes, Qiao Han instinctively trembles, “Oh.” He obediently walks over.

The two waiting in the wings: Lady, we’re out! Dog man! Is it impossible to perform without us? Keep your dog food to yourself!!

Wasn’t this supposed to be about rising to the heavens and having beauties all around?

Qiao Han: ??? Did I fall for him?

This novel is good overall, but there're also some glaring plotpoints that made it frustrating to read.

Initially the pacing was great and action was delivered well, but MC became so reliant on ML that the novel progressed from a hero (MC) save hero (ML) story to a hero (ML) saving damsel (MC) story. It became frustrating when some characters started losing braincells and becoming villainous canon fodders.

I'm not sure why the author decided to add dub-con when the main couple is already really solid as it is. It's like adding... more>> an already sweet cake with even more layers of icing, making it unplatable. If you can ignore those moments, their romance is very sweet.

MC is what you'd call an obsessed parasocial fan. He only actively takes action when it comes to the ML, so there's double standards and dubious morality but when he does take action his sharp tongue silences everyone.

Spoiler

Its worth pointing out that his obsession with ML's life was borderline unhealthy but the author does try to sugarcoat a lot of his actions.

Him making ML his entire personality is not a problem since the story IS about how braindead he is over the ML, but when considering how he knew the ending of the story, it made everything extremely frustrating. Like dude, you are in a life and death situation, you are obviously causing various butterfly effects, the system's restrictions aren't that strict, your big brother idol is going to die soon if you don't start planning for the future!!!!!

After reading the final arc, I realised how unrelated the first few arcs were. Why was the MC partaking in so much unnecessary conflict, picking fights with canon fodders when he knows the world is ending!! The first 100 chapters felt more like a filler and the next 70 chapters became an entire different story.

[collapse]

There were a few moments I almost dropped the novel, but continued to push through to see a happy end and true to the theme, justice will still be served even if it comes late. It's not as if the novel was lacking anything, it just felt like the author forcefully added in unnecessary drama while making MC clueless to every single cause and effect. ML really carried the whole novel for me. I really only read through it to see his happy end. <<less

The synopsis hooked me in and surprisingly the story delivers exactly that.

I adore the MC (Qiao Han), he is that one fan who will do anything to protect his idol to a point of blind worship. He transmigrated as a villain with tasks to obstruct ML's path but how can a fan do that to his idol so MC embark on a journey to cheat the system while changing ML's life trajectory 😆

ML (Xiao jiuci) is that main character in cultivation novel who has strong sense of justice, no worldly... more>> desire, no likes or dislikes. He will help those in need, sacrifice himself for the greater good and even if he face malice every step of the way he has no hatred. But of course this will change with MC's influence lol

ML already know early on that MC isn't the original Qiao Han, he thought the current Qiao Han is a demon who took over original body to do evil BUT one night in drunken state, Qiao Han confess his "love" (idol worship kind of love) and Xiao Jiuci misunderstood thinking Qiao Han is really in love with him and is here due to his love obsession. This cause a ripple in Xiao Jiuci's heart who has no desire.... A bit narcissitic but I can't blame him for thinking that way with how Qiao Han acts around him (learn medic skill to support XJC, protect XJC from danger, retaliate againts those who has ill intention towards XJC, XJC this, XJC that.. bruh, any iceberg will melt under such hot dedication)

Overall, the plot is pretty good, I didn't get bored at all with Qiao Han's shenanigan in exposing evil and destroying people sect 🤣🤣 There are variety of side characters, some are written well, some don't. There are variety of side CP as well, both hetero and homo couple (there's one couple that ended up BE which sadden me cos I like that side character)

I docked a star off due to personal preferences, there's that dub-con trope that often appears in BL story which makes me uncomfortable and the author use that trope at least 4 to 5 times in the story. For example, being affected by love array, s*x pollen, drugs.. even though both MC and ML didn't hit last base, one of them is still unconcious when the deed happened. Their romance also quite bumpy due to Qiao Han's sad past and this cause him to be in denial until ch150+ (long enough to suffocate me). <<less

It was so good until the last chapters. I think the author had to wrap up the story too fast so it felt unfinished.

The relationship between MC and ML was always developing and it was so cute seeing them slowly fall in love.

This novel deserves its good name, whether plot-wise or MC (A die-hard fan of ML to the point of worship and wants nothing more than to protect his idol and change his fate) and ML (your typical righteous cultivator with good morals and nice person that can't stand injustice, but also a pushover that others find easy to take advantage of his goodness, but his tolerance is quite good especially because they're his so-called family, that I wish they all die a horrible death, but it's more like ML doesn't... more>> care at all about himself as long as he achieves the result he wants. My first time liking ML more than MC, lol) are just that good. Their characters are very likable, especially ML. It has been a long time since I've seen such a not-darkened ML. I'm pretty sure you'll like it.

But I'm still dropping this novel and leaving a review if I ever find this novel again in the future and wonder why.

Simply put: the continuous dub-con situations were annoying. Once or twice was fine, but now the author started forcing dub-cons whenever possible.

aside from this point that made me rather uncomfortable, the novel is pretty good.

**Dub-con typically involves s*xual encounters where consent is ambiguous or questionable. <<less
