Recently, Ming Ci discovered a mole growing on his collarbone.

Crimson, round, like a drop of blood splattered on the snow-white skin.

At first, he didn’t pay much attention, just couldn’t help but take an extra glance when looking in the mirror. But after a while, that red mole started to grow, like a puddle of blood flowing downward, spreading… almost occupying the entire chest.

Ming Ci felt he should get it checked out. On the night before going to the hospital, as he passed the mirror on his way, he subconsciously took a look.

—The crimson mark had disappeared.

Ming Ci walked up to the mirror, carefully observing his collarbone and chest, the skin was snow-white and clean. He breathed a sigh of relief, about to turn off the light, but caught sight of a blurry figure behind him.

Ming Ci “…”

It drew nearer slowly, its soft limbs elongating, like intertwining red ropes enclosing Ming Ci’s body.

“You can’t… abandon me… we… must be together forever.”

The moist, warm breath wrapped around his trembling skin, murmuring softly.

The red mole on his collarbone eventually grew into a crimson, eerie monster, entangling him day and night.

Creepy, very creepy. But not in a disgusting way. This is quite a good example of a short horror story, the supposed happy ending only making it more creepy -- because rationally it's not happy at all, but the mind does what it can to protect itself.

A well written short horror story. Its as the reviewer above, it is a very symbiote esque relationship between the ML and the MC but I do like how the pacing of the story solely focuses on just the MC and ML relationship moving forward. It is creepy and unsettling in the sense that it make you feel like it shouldn't be a happy ending because of the parasitic and power imbalance that the relationship clearly poses however that's what sealed the deal for me. I enjoy looking at the... more>> character progression of the ML and MC here is like the unchanging anchor, the reason for ML's character progression. For a short story, I think it truly delivers the unsettling feeling whether ML will one day go out of line or

if MC truly does like ML since it is portrayed as if he is trying to rationalise his overwhelming fear into love

In short, it does a great job in portraying creepy vibes :D <<less

Author's writing style and the EN translation are both chef's kiss for a short story like this. It's hard to be satisfied with short stories of this length but I couldn't stop because the writing is too good.

Story didn't seem as creepy to me. In fact didn't seem creepy at all to me.. It even felt kind of.. delicious...

They have more of a symbiotic relationship than parasitic. Even though it starts of with the visceral, one-sided affection and possessiveness of a hideous monster towards the MC, it slowly develops into... more>> mutual codependency, which is oddly romantic to me.

Maybe my mind is just rotten.

The Romance could actually be PEAK, and they had the potential to be one of those weirdest but oddly satisfying sweetest couples, if they were allowed more time to develop.

A lot of potential was left unutilized. Ending is rushed and full of plot holes, especially regarding ML's origin. Both main characters are interesting but the story didn't allow much character depth. Their relationship development took an abrupt turn right after the climax and then the story ended too quickly so I was left gasping for more.

The author did mention writing extras for their past / post canon but dk if they've been written yet. If they do decide to extend it of rewrite it as lengthier, full-fledged novel in the future it'd definitely be a hit. The premise is really interesting and unique. <<less

What can I say? This is one of the most terrifyingly tender couples I've ever read; I love them. Ming Ci is a human who acts like a human, and his Xiao Hong is a monster who acts like a monster... deeply in love. That's all you need to know.

By the way, read the extras! They explain a little about what is ML.

I thought it would be more interesting than it really is. I'm kind of disappointed after finishing it.

There's barely any character depth. He literally barely interacts with anyone outside of the ml. You never find out what the ML is or how he even appeared on the MC. Why did he choose the mc? And that ending gave me so many more questions with no answers forthcoming also.

The romance isn't very satisfying (we get no dog food), and the MC just suddenly falls in love without any real explanation after trying to get rid of the ML almost the entire novel.

I wouldn't recommend this to anyone unless you like Venom and his symbiote relationship, which I suspect the author is a fan of because it had quite a few similarities to that or at least au of it. I personally didn't enjoy this aspect because I don't ship Venom and Eddie. I was hoping the ML would get his own body or really be an actual person before instead of being an unexplained monster without even a real face. I'm not the type of person who enjoys tent**les as my ml. <<less
