And admittedly, personally, it was nice to see the ceo character lose for once.
-
- The CEO in the contract and in action, never (*before the story begins) asked for anything other than kisses and holding hands.
So just to summarise, the secretary, who found and sent the MC to the CEO, then secretly instructed the MC to act like a knock-off version of the CEO's lover without the knowledge of the CEO. That, my friends, is hugely manipulative. And the MC wonky-logics his way out of taking responsibility for his part in this deception by saying that he (and the secretary) are only trying to get the CEO back together with his lover. The MC says that he doesn't want to break the couple up, but that's exactly what his acting does - and then he blames everything on the CEO. Don't get me wrong, the CEO is no angel - he employs the MC as a romantic partner without telling him that he's a substitute (but also without requiring him to act like one). If the MC didn't know from the beginning, it would be very harmful. But they do know from the beginning. And not only do they know, they make it worse. The author tried to whitewash the MC and the secretary, and blacken the CEO, at the end but it really didn't work. The CEO is just not that scummy.Like, at the end the secretary pulls the, "you didn't even know that the MC is allergic to alcohol, not fish" card, but ??? Of course he doesn't know because the MC lied and said he was allergic to fish! And the CEO does notice that the MC stares at the seafood side of the menu, and he only ever takes a sip and says "good" regardless of the quality. What more do you expect?
