Pretty Good and Entertaining.

The story was laid out well and the occasional angst would totally hit the spot with some unexpected revelations. The romance was in a good pace and the self attack wasn't prominent or weird because the authored referred to the MC (the reborn MC in a different body) as the original body's name and the ML with his name. The characters were well written without feeling much 2D and even the villain had reasons to be one and for a short novel - this was a bit... more>> unexpected. Binge read it in a day. Can keep your interest. The MC slowly falling in love was also captured especially how he slowly started being possessive towards the ML.

Plot - 4.5/5

Characters - 4/5

Romance - 4.5/5

Personal Feelings - 5/5 <<less

MC is calm, smart and caring. His life experience different from his other self makes him a kind of different person. ML is cute, intelligent and diligent. His life trajectory changed after meeting MC making him a different person too. Although the experiences make them different, they understand each other to a large extent.

ML falls in love first. A simple budding love from the care he felt. MC, who knew that this is past self, didn't just fell in love simply. He had a step-by-step process. Coming to terms that... more>> he came to like his past self, who changed to some extent.

The villains aren't idiots. They do those things and do it for a solid reason. The mystery hidden in MC's identity, which is a mix of his new body and his own soul, is exciting to unravel too.

Character growth is very nice too. It can seen almost in all characters - be it from 'protagonist' camp or 'antagonist' camp.

It's a stable ride of feelings with a destined happy ending. The last three chapters (not the extras) emit such deep breath of a bad ending. Fortunately not! That's the only time my tears fell reading this novel.

Spoiler

I almost thought that the MC would drown - narcissus style.

[collapse]

The second CP is cute too. But since the novel moves more around the main CP, we can only guess the progress of the second CP from their behaviour. Not much detail about them.

The third CP wasn't given an extra, but it's a very stable one.

Overall, it's a surprisingly short xianxia CN novel with a fast pace that doesn't appear fast to me with self-cest, mystery and multiple CPs. <<less

It's a good story, more complex than I expected it for 77 chapters & 4 extras, with a time frame pretty fast.

The principal CP is cute, it doesn't really feel like a self-cest, more like 2 people who understand each other without a need to talk, more like complicity and understanding how the other think but they come as 2 different persons. Don't have any hesitation if like me you're not sure about self-cest, it's a good one.

The second main CP is pretty funny ... more>>

. I think readers when they meet that character did not expect that evolution.

The vilains are not that s*upid. And in the end, even if they deserve it, I felt bad for one of them
Spoiler

only one and it's not the one you're thinking he is the one thinking he is loved, two-playing women to discover in the end no one loved him and his best moment in life was when he was young with his adoptive father.

It's a lot of informations but it's only after getting to half the novel you'll understand who I am talking about.

I feared for one moment the end would be sad but no worries it's a happy end !

I totally recommend this novel. It's sweet, not much angst but some at the end, villains not completely s*upid and some surprising growth in characters. Obviously since it's 'short' there are some stories we would love to learn more about like the third CP or some things who could have a better explanations. But overall it's good. <<less

This was the first “narcissism” novel that I've read.

At first, I found it weird because technically, the MC and the ML are the same person. But as I spent more time reading the novel, I learned to separate their identities and eventually got amazed by this unique novel.

The world building is pretty much mediocre but the plot makes up for its lacking.

... more>> The villains in this novel are not your typical chinese villains; They're bad but not the annoying type of bad. Their characters are actually well written.

It's actually a shame that it's a novel featuring two identical souls. This is probably the reason why it's underrated because not many people can accept this trope. <<less

I dont know how to rate it... I mean I rated worse novels as 4 stars and better novels as 3... it feels like 4 is too much but 3 is too little. Ok lets be generous.

The idea of selfcest is intriguing and I like novels about cultivators but I think this novel needed a bit more of thought and work, it was a bit lacking with some plot lines not explored in full and some logic a bit cliched typical for this kind of the novels, I mean for... more>> e.g.

Spoiler

the villain spent so many years plotting and using those around him as tools and then at one moment he realised he was wrong... like if he was able of this realisation why didnt it show earlier? If he was not, why he could suddenly see the light? I mean all these years he did not realise that his wife would not approve how he treated his daughter? And only once she is gone he is like fck how I will explain it to my wife now, I give up. So he did realise their daughter was really important to his wife, but still used her? Why care about her now then. Just tell the wife she died at that day when cultivators attacked. Very confusing behaviour, and very typical for 50% of plots out there but in some like star wars you could understand how anakin became darth vador and how he came back but here you cannot. So this what I mean when I say smth was lacking - the plot and actions were cliched enough that you kinda not surprised but the story itself was not really showing us much that we could feel, understand and emphasise.

[collapse]

The characters were fun in general but imo they all did not feel real to me, like their stories were shortly introduced but I couldnt really emphasise with them, cz the introduction was too brief. And it is not about the number of words, idk, it is difficult for me to pinpoint what exacty was lacking, but there was something... missing... not enough...

In general it was enjoyable to read but was it worth reading - idk...

Spoiler

I was cheering for ML to be gong but in the end it did not happen. Actually it would be even better if they were a switch esp considering that both wanted to dominate. MC said that the one who is stronger is on top, however this kind of thing is not about strength but about love, about wanting to indulge each other.

[collapse]

P. S. : I actually really liked another novel about a similar theme - After Failing to Influence the Protagonist <<less

I found the self-cest aspect very intriguing and wasn't disappointed. It's less than 80 chapters so it's not too elaborate and complex but that's to be expected. I liked that it never really dragged, there was no filler. The romance develops relatively quickly but not unreasonably so and both of them are obsessed with each other, which I love.

You should honestly just give it a try it's an easy read. I'd rate it a little more than 4 stars but to boost the ratings I'll give it 5.
