There is a fanfiction that uses a similar system to earn rage points, except it was poorly executed.

Keyboard Immortal has face slapping elements and angering people with words, the cultivation is still quite low. Maybe it has to do with the protagonist being in a small town.

The story has many funny moments that will have you grinning from ear to ear

The translation done by Starvecleric is not bad, but the grammar needs a closer look. It is either missing words or their incorrect use.

Talk about padding and dragging the stories... this series have the slowest pace i've ever read... his cultivation is level 3 at chp 80 and reach lvl 4 at chp 200+ any arc feel useless and usually dont even matter with how MC is treated.. even when he save the heroine family theyre still ungratefull piece of shit

And dont even mention his lottery system thats useless as f*ck

This is a very funny and decent story. The world building is not bad along with many interesting side characters. But the novel has a terrible flaw. And that is the MC. I don't mind him being shameless, rash and lustful, but what annoy me is the constant inconsistency of the character portray by the author. One moment he seems to be very smart but the next moment his actions makes you think he is a idiot.

The MC has zero character growth. He never learns from his mistakes nor does... more>> he regret the things that happen which was cause by himself. The only reason why he is still alive is his plot armor. His journey is like reading a su*cide person constantly try to off himself but only got save by some ridiculous luck. The MC constant inconsistency is really annoying. One moment he is a ruthless killer but the next moment he is like a saint when it comes to sparing others. Is irritating how author constantly shift the MC personality.

When you think he is a pretty smart guy, the next moment he does something s*upid. For example he was constantly save by a powerful person but when this powerful person died, the first thing he does is to boast to others about it. Even though is better to stay quiet and let things blow over. His mouth constantly blab things out without fearing the consequences. Worse is most of the time he doesn't even have any plans at all. I don't mind if he attract trouble as long he has a plans to follow up on in case things goes bad, but most of the time the guy has no plans at all. All the things happening is because he got lucky whenever things get out of hand. He is not s*upid and clearly show to be intelligent that can piece certain stuff together but then the next moment he is a like moron who intentionally attract the danger but has no plans at all how to deal with it.

There is no tension at all. Even though the MC had almost died so many times or when the ones close to him are in danger, we as the reader can't feel the tension of it. Is because the MC himself do not give us this feeling that there is anything to worried about. As if he would solve it just because he is the MC and everything will turn out to be alright. Is really annoying this way when a MC show zero sign of any personal growth throughout the whole story. There is no cautious at all nor does he even learn a single thing from all the mistakes he went through.

Another example is when someone try to kill him. Even though he should know his life is in danger and the ones he cares about are also in danger, he doesn't do anything about it. No plans or any counter measures. There is no tension at all because is like he doesn't care and still enjoy his daily life like nothing is wrong. Thinking he could kill the enemy as long he appear. Is ridiculous that every time he goes somewhere dangerous, he get found out anyway. Even though he should know that with his skills, the chances of being discover is high and he should at least have a plan before putting himself at risk. The guy literally survive due to luck every time

I will give it a 3 star. Is a not bad novel to read to pass the time but the novel is kinda lacking is you want to read a novel which has some depth to it. <<less

The book is very refreshing and the comedy is an absolute gold but the MC is too much of a coward to cultivate and the progress of his cultivation is so slow and it becomes annoying

First, I'd like to start off by saying that I enjoyed reading this novel. It's lighthearted, fun, comedic, and one of the few cultivation novels with great character interactions and development. However, that's not to say that it's without its faults.

Pros:

  • The best part of this novel is the characters. Anyone with a name (not just a title) has their own personality and if they're close to the MC, you can see real growth in them. They feel like genuine people, not just cardboard cutouts.
  • The women/harem. Slight spoiler, but the harem is large. It's already sitting at ~30 people, some of whom are more supportive characters, but it's not like the MC won't take care of them. That being said, each one is unique and it's enjoyable to see how the MC works for their love and care and how they all support each other even if they're rivals in love. Honestly, this feels like a more realistic version of a harem story, other than all of the women giving into the MC unconditionally.
  • The cultivation system. It's well-thought-out and actually contributes to the story. Each Rank is different and isn't just some arbitrary name with an arbitrary strength gain. At least, that's the case for the rest of the world. As this is sort of a gag novel, realms and stages don't matter to the MC, which the author doesn't even try to hide anymore after chapter 1530.
  • The political landscape. If you like that sort of stuff, you'll probably enjoy this novel as it's filled with politics.
  • The novel as a whole feels much more realistic than many other cultivation novels. Although it's still a dog-eat-dog world where the strong reign supreme, it's still very human.
  • I like that, although the MC is strong, he's always facing some sort of uphill battle. It's fun to see what sort of creative ways he comes up with to deal with his enemies.
  • The MC's mouth is sharper than his sword. His words can quite literally anger people to death. In fact, he does more verbal fighting than anything else.
  • The MC is smart and quick-witted. He has a survivor's mentality. And he's incredibly funny with his shamelessness.
  • I'll also go ahead and put "Worldbuilding" in here as well, though I'd say that it's more up to personal preference. It rides a fine line between info-dumping for the sake of word count and useful information.
Cons:

  • While there is a plot, sort of, it's really just boiled down to skirt chasing. Secret Techniques? That's just another way to show off. Cool weapons? I can use those as gifts! Who needs strength when I have this sweet mouth of mine?
  • Aphrodisiacs. EVERYONE is using them. Of course, except for the MC, who only takes advantage of the girls under its effects. A very slimy way to forcefully add girls to the harem.
It might seem that the pros outweigh the cons based off of this, but I assure you, that's not the case. What's... more>> really wrong with this novel boils down to the direction the author takes.

It starts off great. It's about an MC trying to navigate his way around countless strong enemies while farming "Rage Points" and trying to cure his erectile dysfunction. It's fun, unique, a little outlandish, and enjoyable. There are hardly any other cultivation novels like it. Up to chapter 500, it's a 5/5 novel for me.

However, after he firmly plants his feet on the ground, the Emperor sets his eyes on him. Ugh...

The Emperor is supposedly the most powerful being in the world. There's no escaping him. You either accept your fate or... well, there's no other choice.

That's when the story takes a completely different turn. One that I personally don't like and find incredibly boring. It takes a complete 180, going from a unique cultivation novel to straight politics. Here, strength seems to matter less and less as he's surrounded by monsters. A single slap by any of these powerhouses could kill him, and he's forced to work like a s*ave.

Not only that, but from here on out, if you don't know a bit about Chinese history and mythology, most of the background information about the world and Unknown Regions doesn't make much sense. It reaches a point, where you could skip through hundreds of chapters and not miss much.

When I say that it's all about Chinese Mythology, Politics, and people-pleasing, please take that literally. Physical fights are few and far between. And this doesn't change.
Spoiler

At least, not until the Emperor dies.

[collapse]

I found myself going to the wiki, and just jumping to whenever he meets a new woman, has s*x with one of his women, kills someone important, or makes a breakthrough in his cultivation. The rest matters very little. You could go 10+ chapters with side characters (people without even names) talking about politics, only to send the MC off on some arbitrary mission that he may or may not complete. Unless you want to read about the author flexing his knowledge on Chinese Mythology and Soap Operas, most of the chapters have very little meaning.

I skipped chapters 1000-1200 and I feel like it didn't make a difference. Whenever he enters a new Unknown region, you can basically skip to the last 10-20 chapters as that's when the only important bits are. Or, skip to the point where he has s*x with whichever woman fell into this "Secret Realm" with him this time. Either way, I don't find the Secret Realms enjoyable.

This lasts for over 1300 chapters (500-1800) and at this point, even after he defeats his biggest enemy so far, I have little desire to keep reading. The only good thing about this novel is the characters, but even that's starting to get stale.

My main gripe with the novel, however, is that almost every male character other than the MC is an actual piece of human garbage. Which makes sense, considering the rampant corruption and the absolute shitty personality of the Emperor. There's so much politics involved, yet it hardly ever feels like anyone other than the MC gets in trouble when he never did anything wrong. Officials can go around slaughtering thousands, yet the Emperor will turn a blind eye because "they're useful" or "their background", despite being the strongest person in the world.

Yet, the MC hardly ever kills anyone. Rather, he goes out of his way to appease and save people. This is all well and good, but it takes way too damn long to get anything done. For every proactive action the MC takes, it's followed by a dozen chapters of useless politics.

After about 1000 chapters or so, I found myself merely skipping along, hardly bothering to read most chapters. It simply devolves into a mess of... I don't know.

The plot goes by the wayside, old characters are tossed to the side for new ones, MC only cares about... I'm not even sure at this point, and it feels like there's no real goal. He doesn't even seem like he wants to kill the Emperor. He merely thinks that, because the Emperor will eventually get rid of him, then he has to get strong enough to fight back. Almost like the very thought is an inconvenience.

He's kind of just thrown around from place to place, getting laid or attempting to get laid. That's what the plot devolves into.

Rage Points don't matter anymore. Cultivation Realms don't matter. Politics don't matter. History is there as filler. There's no training. No striving to become better. It becomes incredibly bland.

From a once full-of-life, comedic cultivation story to a lifeless mess of info-dumps and simping, this novel really tests the limit of your patience and how well you can deal with countless repetitive scenes and mini-arcs. <<less

It's rubbish through and through, but hey, if your curiosity picks this up, you must be looking for junk food. That being said, just skip around the first 200 chapters, unless you want to read about characters' introductions - to which, I assure you, doesn't worth all the pain.

author is an individual with smooth brain and this novel is his depiction of intelligent MC where he does s*upid things but fear not as the mobs have spherical brains with memory span of goldfish, MC does something outrageous which he shouldn't be capable but someone rebuts random bullsh*t reason every mob character comes to random conclusion and forgets what they saw with their own eyes and attribute MC's success/actions due to *reasons and therefore is still an underdog and nobody covets his heaven defying secrets.

I almost dropped this many times because, to be honest, it was riddled with many issues

HOWEVER it was just too damn funny and entertaining, I really like the MC f*ck all attitude and not taking cultivation too seriously. I'm tired of cultivation story where the MC is just a cultivation machine and goes into too much detail about every single little thing. In this novel, the story focused more on the interaction of characters and factions, basically politics full of interesting characters that have their own agenda, they all trying... more>> to outwit each other with schemes instead of just skinner box RPG grinding of beating monster and get exp for level up and repeat.

Strength still matter, after all, might make right but even the strongest character (at the current moment, idk when he will get power crept or if the MC will ever leave the current place to go to a higher realm or other bullshit) in the story is tied by rules and have to play along because his power is not absolute so the story becomes a lot more dynamic and fun than just people throwing punches at each other and see whose fist is harder.

In a lot of ways, this reminds me a lot of Against The Gods (big harem and a lot of chasing skirt, often times the MC is weaker than the girls but then it will flip later) but although they are similar their strength and weakness are the exact opposite. In ATG the cultivation is a lot more fleshed out and the MC progression makes more sense while in KI cultivation is just the vehicle to progress the story and the characters and the politic is the focus of the story so it is way better than ATG where in most cases everything is black or white and the MC is never wrong and most conflict is just people throwing punches at each other and sees whose fist is stronger then if the MC lost he will barely live and escape then came back stronger and he will find new stronger enemies that are evil and rinse and repeat. <<less

repeat the above plot, MC/pretty girls keep being tricked to drink aphrodisiac every single time.

this author has a huge mental problem, both of his novels repeat the same above plot. Skip all those garbage chaps then this novel is passable.

It was a very good read at first but I dropped around 500ish. The novel went downhill real fast after the MC unseal his D and it went straight from a troll novel to a pure harem one. Its kinda cringe as every girls that the MC meet for the first time ended up falling for him with the same reason "he is unlike other man".

One of the thing that I think the author f*cked up was touching taboo relationship, lad srsly almost f*cked his mother in law smh.

The first 200~ or so chapters were great but it just starts going downhill from there.

The MC is (a) impotent due to a magic seal, (b) is stuck in a marriage of convenience with a cold woman and (c) has a "system" that gives him points whenever he gets people angry.

He pissed people off in various different ways, including flirting with the beautiful women he meets. This upsets them and all the people around him. He also misrepresents his relationship with them as being romantic to upset everyone, a... more>> refreshing contrast to a normal MC who with try and clear up the misunderstandings.

This was all really fun to read.

However, later on, he removes the magic seal and also gets his wife to fall in love with him. At that point he starts perving all the girls around him instead of just flirting, all the other girls start to fall for him for real, any new girls fall for him instantly too.

He also starts cheating on his wife while denying it and proclaiming that "she is the only one for him", despite him being open about it before.

He also NTRs another man's fiance. In fact, despite all the other girls, he's only slept with three of them. His wife (less than a dozen times), his wife's maid (only once under drugs) and the other man's fiance (at least a few dozen times). It's pretty obvious the author has an NTR fetish and is just writing out his fantasies at this point.

Check out @kkgoh review for more details. Looks like he dropped it around the same time as me. <<less

One of the novels where ML keeps saying "I need to keep a low profile" and goes and does something s*upid. WN writers think that their readers are s*upid and cannot remember stuff from just couple of chapters ago. My patience ran out in the last arc. It seems the writer ran out of ideas and kept adding things just to add to mayhem. Fight after fight after fight. It is just endless.

This novel obviously isn't for everyone, but if it is for you, then you'll 100% love it. I would rate the first roughly 300 chapters 5 stars. After that, it starts to go downhill. I don't think that the chapters after 300 are written badly, but it doesn't feel like they fit in with the story. For me, Keyboard Immortal is supposed to be a light comedy novel that you can relax and enjoy without thinking too much. That's exactly what it is for the first 300 chapters, but it... more>> changed a LOT in the chapters after 300. A lot of people felt that the story was too slow paced. For me though it got too fast. The romance progresses way too fast. The heroines go from indifference to pretty much f*cking Zu An. It makes no sense. It becomes way too frequent and just gets annoying. It just doesn't fit in with their personalities.

This novel is probably the most hilarious novel I've read on here though. I would highly recommend the first 300 chapters. <<less

Caught up to the machine translations.

I really liked the novel at the beginning. It was comedic and honestly great entertainment.

I couldn't resist so I went to machine translation, (which by the way, is probably one of the best ML I've seem in my life).

Here's a spoiler for something I dislike. Everything was okay but overall I feel a drop of quality.

Author replicated the dungeon trial scene. He made Zu An live like 50 years in the trial... Like bro I don't give a crap about this. It would've been fine if this didn't take 50 chapters along the way but it did. This trial drove me nuts. He went into some kind of illusion for 50 years to get some kind of supreme manual...

This is a very fun story for the first 200 or so chapters but the author didn't really plan it out appropriately, pacing goes out of whack and the main character begins to genuinely acts like he thinks he's the protagonist in a bad novel, he just expects to come out ahead without ever really trying, until he gets into a bad spot and deus ex machina inevitably saves him over and over

Rating: 8/10 (only for the first 100ish chapters)

This novel combines 2 approaches which make it have a unique vibe. The world has an interesting lore and many plotlines that intertwine in the first part of the story. Second, there is the MC with his ridiculous system that is completely opposite to the feeling of authenticity the plot has. Normally this absolutely random deus ex machina would blind the authenticity of the plot and the feeling of suspense. But what's intersting is that it can coexist with it because... more>> the actual plot and world are painted very dangerous.

Sadly this is only true for the first 100ish chapters as other also said. If everything was logical mostly except for the effects of the MC's cheat item, now many random stuff keeps happening abruptly disturbing the former authenticity. Moreover, the events start to be really drawn out over many chapters whereas beforehand in one chapters a lot of things changed albeit not much time passed in the novel world's time.

Another drawback is that there is an obsession with stunning beauties. If you don't have a particular fetish with that, you will find it tiring. The MC also has a psychotic tick of praising his own looks, doing so on average 10 times per chapter. Like everything this gets worse after 100 chapters when the comedy which almost dissapears.

Tl;dr: Novel has interesting vibe. Read 90-100 chapers only. <<less

This piece is a master class in character and world building. Much like Deadpool you will be amused and laughing while missing why it's so amusing and funny. This book is set in a world with a semi-realistic main character going through a lot of shock and psychological trauma. The world is interesting and its inhabitants behave mostly logically and consistent with the world they are in.

The main character gets some cheats and Deus Ex Machina that he reacts to like a self-aware protagonist, and yet I would characterize him... more>> like Rincewind. Aware that he's the protagonist and fully aware he might just die for no reason.

There are two pivotal moments where you can tell all of the other world and character building is showing through. The first time is the very first moment the protagonist isn't in immediate peril. It takes like ~100 chapters as he is aware and annoyed that he spent literally every waking moment up to that point being ab*sed, beaten up, confused, berated, belittled, and almost dying. He cries because he realizes he can't go home, and the people he loves will mourn him. So he plays a song with a stranger about missing home. He inwardly mocks that learning to play an instrument to pick up girls never got him anywhere at the time, but the genuine moment and the beauty of the song touches the strange who later helps him a lot.

The second came pretty recently in currently translated chapters. People have started to notice the protag is weird in every way. Acting weird, has weird powers, doesn't react to sh*t in any way they can predict in this world. They all make some fairly logical deductions and it's always nice to have a fantasy world where people are consistent in this way. One of those people probing him suddenly says, in half exasperation "Why do you treat the world like a game?" And hits the nail on the head. The protagonist goes between "I have these isekai powers, I can't die, these are NPC's." and "Shit, this world is real. I'm f*cked. These people can't help me, and I can't help these people, what should I do?" It ends up being a lot more real then all of the ridiculous bullsh*t that happens, and is a hallmark of the genre, would suggest. <<less
