i swear I wont judge a book by its rating again. This one is good. I red up to chapter 163 and its never been boring I have been binge reading. I dont know where the development is really heading which adds to the charm, at least for me. Depending on how it ends up my opinion may change so look forward to future updates I suppose. For now it gets a 4.5 stars

I've liked this one quite a bit so far. Feels a bit different from others I've read.

Main character is certainly not incredibly likeable and feels quite uncaring about others

The world the story crafts is interesting and the constant loot upgrading the main character feels fun to me. Haven't ran into any times when I felt bored reading this so if you're hesitating give it a try I think you'll like it.

Excited to see where the novel goes.

Bad title, Good writing, it should be "Rank 4 Human in a Ruined World, " not Level, there's no leveling concept in this. Just stats and items

This is easily one of the best novels I've read about a post-apocalyptic world with a system, quests, and monsters that gradually grow stronger. The way it portrays society's downfall and adaptation is spot on, and I really appreciate how it includes perspectives from countries other than Korea.

The concepts of dungeons, monsters, mutants, weather changes, events, and even life outside the world, and different... more>> species from beyond are executed brilliantly. It's surprising how underrated this novel is, considering how well it handles these elements. The protagonist isn't ridiculously OP either, he constantly faces real threats and challenges. He's also morally grey, neither a saint nor a villain, and his "Stubborn" achievement fits his personality well. Despite that, he's refreshingly humble compared to the typical KR protagonists you see in this genre. Plus, the women he meets don't just magically fall in love with him, which is a nice change.

The relationships and character dynamics are another strong point. The people he encounters have diverse, realistic personalities, and even antagonists are written as reasonable, grounded individuals instead of cartoonish, mindless villains. It adds a lot of depth and makes the world feel alive.

On top of all that, the action scenes are consistently great. The pacing and execution are solid, and they keep you hooked without feeling repetitive. Overall, this novel deserves way more attention than it gets. <<less

Translation is okay.

Plot isn't your typical Dark Fantasy in a modern world death game cause it has a mix of sci-fi elements.

The MC is likeable at first but gradually you'll get irritated by his actions like he has some sort of psychological problem also the story is more on fighting and collecting loots and achievements.

The only comedic part is him advertising for an intergalactic weapon company.

Kind of a blend between hunter end of the world stuff and death game. Perhaps the blend is unique. Don't know, maybe you've read something like this. Death game aspects though so I mean if you like that you might like this. I didn't hate it outright, which is rare for the death game genre, but the more I read the less interesting it is and the more evident the death game elements are the less compelling it is. If you like those things though, you might enjoy it.

Copy and pasted from my recommendation list.

Has some really funny moments because of the mc’s crazy shenanigans! Guaranteed to make you chuckle at least once if not every chapter!

Excellent pacing and world building! The apocalyptic setting itself is unique but it could’ve easily been generic if it wasn’t executed so well!

Happy to say that I’m enjoying all 250+ chapters (so far) thoroughly.

Another Korean author who wanted create another "cold and cool outside, caring inside" hero but created total sociopathic mu*dered. First dozens chapters starts with comparatively normal protagonist: loner who don't have family or friend at all, bit of a coward but with good morality. He has potential for great and unexpected grow as person and protagonist. But after start of apocalypse and his first couple kills he devolve into complete and total sociopath. He has no family or friends so he cares for no one. If someone want travel with... more>> him he at best tolerate them if they useful to him, if not he not even acknowledge them. If someone did something what landed them in "enemy" territory he will kill them without hesitation no matter which justification they have, "mercy" or "compassion" don't exist in his vocabulary. He justified this with standard "its the end of the world, laws don't exist anymore, its kill or be killed", but its always ring hollow then all of is actions which help others stem not from morality but from how it benefits him.

Other characters and author praise him for his "heroic" deeds like giving points to whole town or saving people from bandits attack, but all these action he did not because of his morality but because of reward system. In this novel people can't perform certain action and get "achievements": reward like points, titles and stats boost. The rarer action the better. All of his first "heroic" he did not because he wanted help people but because he though "all others did this and that, so what if I do this instead". And after that morality did not crop in his though even once, only cost and benefit for him.

And to demonstrate protagonist total moral depravity there is highest achievement which only he can get - to find and kill certain person. And the moment he see it, his first though is "how do I find this person". Not "I will not do it". Not "its wrong". Not even "why?". This person did nothing bad to him and protagonist know nothing about him, but because "hero" want get rarest achievement and reward for it he decide to kill him without hesitation. I am sure what in future chapters will be show what his target is another evil overlord with no redeeming qualities and he use this as justifications for his actions but it will not change how utterly morally bankrupt protagonist is. The only reason he not sliding in total villain territory is what he will not kill others without reason.

The other parts of novel it could be interesting if giving more time for flesh up. For example at start of novel during "judgment" certain category of items is frozen and turned to stone, like bikes and chocolate bars, and to use them you need to use points to unfroze them individually. There also tax you need to pay to not die. But unfortunately the only reason for these rules to exist is to justify for protagonist and others to grind for points. As for other characters they fall only 2 categories: enemies to kill or hanger-ons to tolerate. And since protagonist don't care for either his interactions with them is also one note. For one curb stomp and kill them. For other engage with small talk with them and maybe teach them thing or two, and then they decide for whatever reason leave you forget about them.

Some can says what novel could become better in later volumes but it must be something truly epic for me to return read this cr*p about this psycho without any compassion or mercy who author shill as "hero" every chapter he can. <<less

The writing in this one is incredible, though it suffers the pitfalls of most light novels where MC gets op, the difference here are that the element of this novel are realistic, the MC is a hypocrite, he justifies his actions by blaming the world and comforts himself that at least he feels guilty killing, the world building is quite nice to with how the world got ruined, plus there are mysteries that are waiting to be solve in the background, the people he meets have their own personalities too... more>> even those that are just mere passersby.

All in all a great novel with incredibly flawed and human like characters but with some cliches holding it back. <<less

MC is quite weak-willed very early on, but after killing his first ennemy, he switched to a different mindset, saving the weak and indirectly protecting them. Furthermore, with random achivements obtained out of a hat, he quickly becomes conveniently OP. In the end, his mindset becomes closer to a hero than the extra we thought we had in the first chapters...

If feels the plot is constructed chapter by chapter and I don't really understand the aim here: accumulated bad karma triggered an apocalypse, yet, more bad karma accumulates afterward too:... more>> what's the point? What's MC aim and goal? Author's logic seems skewed.

Combine the two points above with the classical way Korean write novels, and it becomes quickly indigest to read. <<less
