The existence of the second child, Karina, who was the successor’s youngest twin and the one who wasn’t as competent as her sibling, has been concealed by the people around her all her life.

One day, she finds out that she only has one year left to live. So, she foolishly visited her fiancé, whom she has never had an exchange with.

Along with the divorce papers that he longed desired for.

“Frankly speaking, I want to stay here for a year.”

“….. Are you crazy, Miss?”

“I’ll break off the engagement.”

But she didn’t know at that time.

“It seems that you keep trying to pretend that you don’t know, so I should definitely tell you then.”

“Pardon?”

“I am fond of you.”

It didn’t occur to her that she would receive attention and affection from him without anything in return. So she comes to desire this much for a life without regrets.

God its heartbreaking. I know it has a tragedy tag but sheesh my heartstrings were really yanked on. So FL has this "artist disease" where the more she uses her ability, the more guaranteed her death is, and she has been unfortunate enough to recieve the news that she will die no matter what in 1 year. She is the eldest daughter who has always been ignored and ab*sed by her family, and she realizes that she doesn't want to live the rest of her short life like this. So,... more>> she comes to her political fiancee and asks to live quietly at his estate for one year. Of course she doesnt tell him the reason at first. The characters are kindaaa cliche (mostly FL and her parents) to appeal to certain audiences, but I do appreciate how genuinely understanding and actually nice the ML is. Like, at first he seems like the stereotypical cold ML, but we see him express emotions and he cares for the FL. I would say he still has that "indifferent to obsessed" quality to him, which is sort of my cup of tea, but I can see why people wouldn't like that. I didnt read enough of the actual chapters to see his character properly, so this is what I gathered from 22'ish chapters and spoilers. I was heartbroken to see that the FL does die in the end from her disease. D: gosh they even had a child and we see the father daughter (i think they had a girl?) dynamic and it was really sad to see the ML holding back tears while the daughter was just completely clueless and innocent. Tragedy authors really are sadistic sometimes 。・゚ヾ (✦థ ェ థ) ノ。゚・。

Anyways, there is a manhwa for this novel. The art is pretty good, and I'd recommend reading that, since it has actual updates rn, while the novel updates as of now seem nonexistent. Since the novel ending was truly tragic, many people are speculating that the manhwa will hopefully be different and have a happier ending, and I'm really keeping my fingers crossed for that!! I just wanna see FL and ML happy and healthy together ugh IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK FOR??? I dont think so. A sad but good story 。:゚ (;´∩`;) ゚:。 <<less

I come here after reading the manhwa. Tears keep flowing out cause I see myself in her, though my family circumstance is a little bit different than in the comic. I was always a quiet and obedient child, I never throwing a tantrum in every scenarios because of a constant fear to be kick out from home (while the truth is they don't have to threaten me much, just belittle, isolating me and tons of gaslighting are enough to make me obey). I truly wish I had her ability even... more>> it has the expense of costing my own life, cause it's hurt to have these feelings buried inside for years and I could not bear with this anymore. Furthermore, it's good if my life force could be used to create something magical like that even tho they might disappear soon. The FL has ML to stand by her in her last days while I have nothing at mine. <<less

This is so breathtakingly beautiful and made me cry an ocean...

The story is interesting in itself, there isn't a lot of lore but it's sufficient for the reader to understand the flow of the story perfectly fine. It had some surprising happenings in the side stories. I disagree with the ones who said the stories made no sense, most if not all helped tying up everything and also make sense of the title of the work.

The characters are what breaths life into this the most, including the extras. The way... more>> the author writes about emotions is so raw that it's impossible to not emphatize with them, unless you're dead inside.

The romance aspect is very present here.I'm not a fan of obsessive male leads, because it's not how I feel a healthy relationship can be built. That being said, it was written in a way where I feel it's permissible. The relationship was healthy enough for them to be really happy, for her to heal and for him to learn and mature inside.

The translation I read was easy to read and understand, which is very much appreciated. I suppose others read an MTL one, which is a pity because it's bound to mess up the author's way to express things.

I'm totally diving in to other work of this author next, even if it makes me cry again. <<less

The story was heartbreaking dying and leaving someone behind was just too painful so knowing that they had the chance to be together again was a great pleasure for me, it just sinked in on me that the reason behind the title was so meaningful as I slowly unravel it through every page and chapters.

At first it wasn't that sad for me perhaps due to the terrible translation of the novel that's obviously an mtl, thus making it hard for me to further feel the appropriate emotions that the story... more>> wanted to convey during the last special chapters, I didn't cry at first, however witnessing through the words the pain that Million had gone through as well as Karina, it was just terrible making them break apart from each other, whilst waiting for the time where they'd meet again at the end of their journey, it was so horrifyingly painful to read.

Then there comes the special chapters that doesn't make sense and I kinda feel like it was a waste of chapters and felt like it was just being placed as a way to explain the reason behind them going back in time, Cassan and the dessert doesn't really just make any sense. Lastly the side stories, at first the same with Cassan I thought it was an unnecessary plot for the story to just suddenly add a modern timeline. But then it all made sense when one would think about how they both deserved to be with each other in each and every lifetime. Million waiting and finding her was just sick, he waits and waits for her holding the memories that he has of their past lives, with Karina not remembering anything at all, so I'm just thankful that there was Fang who shared the same memories as well as the fact that they were both still able to find each other.

I've cried so much and felt like I had just gone through a break up even tho I've never been in a relationship, so imagining the pain of the characters who experienced it firsthand especially Million who just want to leave everything behind, it can't even compare. Giving them a second and even more chance in life is what they deserve, they're soulmates and lifetime partners who have gone through a lot, it was totally a roller coaster of an emotion especially with the mtl making it even more horrible at times.

Everything about this story is endearingly lovely and tragic, and so beautifully, heartbreakingly, bittersweet.

I’ve been reading it on the Radish app which is currently at chapter 203 (I believe that is the last chapter). I highly recommend. The relationship between the main couple starts off kind of rocky, but once they build trust with each other and start communicating it’s beautiful.

First, I apologize for my bad English.

I am very angry and sad. Although I have never been neglected by my parents, I deeply understand Karina and feel sad for her

These parents are the worst. This story is not about parents who love their child but do not show their love to their child! Or they were strict and had a misunderstanding. Or even they were so busy with their sick child that they neglected her. These parents simply don't love their middle child and don't care about her.

I know there... more>> are parents in other manhwas who hate their children or do not care about their children at all. But they are often like that for a reason. Although the reason does not justify their actions. But they are disinterested in all their children like Manhwa (actually I was the real one). Or they hate their child for some reason. But at least they have feelings for that child. But these worst parents have no feelings towards their middle child, but they love and care for the rest of their children. The reason for the indifference of these parents to their middle child is not that the younger daughter is sick! They are dont love their first daughter and do not care about her. And it's natural for them not to like and care about her so much that they don't even know the reason for their daughter's sadness.

And they don't even care about the reason. They have only four children, but the father doesn't even notice that he doesn't have a picture of his eldest daughter. While he sees the rest of his children's photos on his desk every day. Karina does not exist for him!

If they don't see her for a few days, they don't even care where she is, but how far apart are they in the same house? I hate the mother more than the father! The mother is not blind! She definitely sees that her eldest daughter does not eat and is not present at the table, but she does not care if she is sick. Unlike the father of the family, she is not responsible for running the business! It's not like she has to take care of his sick daughter all the time, they have a family doctor who takes care of her. And most of the time it was Karina who took care of her sick sister. This mother takes care of her other three children but does not even bother to ask the maids about Karina. As long as Karina is alive, she doesn't care if karina is sick or sad, and it doesn't matter if she doesn't see her first daughter, she won't miss her. She doesn't hate Karina, but she doesn't love her either.

🚨spoilers! Even in the novel, after Karina's first death, these parents clearly feel guilty only because of her death. They are not sad because they love Karina and they will never see her again and miss her! They didn't even look and care about her, which memory will they miss? It's just guilt.

Karina doesn't even exist for them.

There is not even a misunderstanding ! Karina has always been obedient and calm and has taken care of her younger sister. But his father only threatens her and considers her immature. When she disappears, he is worried about his reputation, not his daughter! He does not even believe that she is sick. Don't even worry!

I don't hate twins. They obviously love their sister, but they are children and influenced by their parents.

In general, this story is more bitter for me than any other story!

It is much more bitter than any other story with evil parents.... because they are not bad, only Karina is not exist for them !

I am very happy that Karina leaves them and does not allow them to take care of her in the last months of her life because their feel guilty!

Of course, I hope the ending of the manhwa is different from the ending of the novel

Also tell more about the life of Karina's family after her death <<less
