Upon reaching the age suitable for marriage, Alice took up a job cooking meals for the Fourth Knight Order to save her financially troubled family. However, the knights were more handsome than she had imagined.

Alice, who has a hard time dealing with handsome men, tries to do her job without getting unnecessarily involved, but she accidentally learns a secret about one of the knights.

After that, for some reason, she becomes endeared to them and subsequently learns the secrets of the other knights as well. . .?

※ In this world, only nobles can take up the role of a kitchen maid.

I really liked all the different characters and their motivations. The MCs family was cute. The king and queen were cute.

The adventure was fun and intriguing. The food descriptions were yummy sounding.

The ending was kinda short. It needed like a single after story or epilogue or something to finish it off satisfyingly. Also the villains' undoings were weird and left a little vague.

One of the better selections from Awebstories. A reverse harem story that feels well delivered and not ridiculous.

Impoverished noble girl who is wary of men gets a job as a knight order's cook, since the alternative is an arranged marriage for her family's benefit. Uncommon to the type of story usually told here, there are no villains at the beginning of the story: her family is completely supportive of her decision, and none of the knights in the order are out to exploit her.

Spoiler

About a third into the story, the main conflict is introduced: one of the knights is the prince in disguise, attempting to lay low from a noble faction attempting to use him as a figurehead in a coup/revolution. He is discovered, and the female lead is taken with the rest of the named knights to flee to an academy until the heat is off. Female lead takes part in the cover story and assumes the identity of a villainess, but none of the normal villainess tropes occur; the rest of the story from here out is a balance of getting leads on the movement of the enemy noble faction and dealing with the mild romantic subplots. I kept expecting a transition into a more traditional "reincarnated female lead gets wrapped into an otome game" plot, but thankfully it never happened, though another reincarnator is revealed near the end of the story that ultimately had no impact on the plot whatsoever.

Not a straight slice-of-life plot, not a straight romance plot (though the romance is always there, everybody acknowledges they've got other things to worry about), decent character exploration. I was pleasantly surprised. The story decides to forgo the whole "where are they now" part at the end, which I think is a shame, but everything ends on a solid enough note that I'm not too disappointed. <<less
