Su Tang found herself transmigrated to an unknown dynasty, with her frail and pitiful younger brother crying by her side. Her parents had passed away, leaving behind a shophouse.

With her exceptional cooking skills, Su Tang makes a name for herself in the Capital City’s Master Chef competition and eventually established a foothold in the bustling city.

She has a habit of giving away extra food at the end of each day before closing the restaurant. The marquis, who suffers from anorexia, has managed to enjoy countless meals this way.

Gradually, Su Tang notices that the number of people coming for free meals seems to be increasing. The young emperor, the empress, and even the young general seems to visit almost every day. Everyone who tastes her food sings its praises!

Su Tang only wants to run her small restaurant, bask in the sun, read storybooks, and live her life as a humble chef. But why did the handsome Marquis keep giving her such strange looks?

There's some conflict like other ancient novel but solvable. Its not irritable as I hate too much drama. Its good just to add spice.

Relaxing, fluffy, easy, heartwarming read. Chef videoblogger FL transmigrates to an ancient China era where she introduces new cuisines and dishes and creates her own happy fate.

My favourite part was her generosity as an employer, and the friends she gathers around her. It's more of a slice-of-life story, villains are handled quickly, the FL is basically a foodie with a good heart.

Another story not to read on an empty stomach. I like that MC is mellow but will stand up for herself and her brother. Fabulous food descriptions. Am also enjoying how ML is being thwarted in his romantic pursuit, she wants to live a peaceful life and he is too high profile, lol.

i love this! It’s so fun reading up on different food and seeing MC slowly introduce them in ancient times (big thanks to the translator for even including pictures). MC is quite lovable too, she’s just out there living her best life cooking whatever she wants. She’s smart and strong— but not arrogant nor is she picking unnecessary fights. She tries to stand on her own but also knows how to accept help.

so far, it’s a pretty good story worth checking out (but beware, all the food might make you... more>> hungry ^^) <<less

So far it seems to be more of a simple slice of life story that mainly focuses on food, which is what I like, especially when it's in a historical setting. I also appreciate the pictures of the dishes that are included, I like being able to see what they were talking about in the chapter. Might feel a little slow for some people but that should be expected I think since it's more slice of life, and there are only 15 chapters out.

It's not too bad really, just the Mary Sue halo shining through and through. Everything she does is successful, everything she says is a wonder. She's not greedy for fame or fortune, she's sweet, helpful, kind yet not annoyingly so to let others trample on her. She's more saint than human.

I've read all the way up to chapter 63 part 2. It's a really good story that makes the stomach ache with hunger. The romance is slowly growing. It's an adorable food and I want to try some of the recipes lol. I'm enjoying it. If you're patient and like a slowly built romance than this is one I would recommend.

Personal bias, I love food fics and this is about food. The good thing here is that the "food" part of the story is delivered 'nicely' ("simplified steps" w/o cheats. So food doesn't just magic out of kitchen.) and 'logically' (refer Strange World Little Cooking Saint on how bad tasting food is supposedly good or No.1 Chef in the Martial Arts World on how a grain of rice can cause people to go crazy for illogical).

Sweet and to the point. Its more about the food and face slapping as the side dish, pretty much what other reviews have said. Did like that she immediately made her scar bigger and tried to hide her good looks to avoid bad things happening lol

I give this Tory a 4.5 stars

Okay, this is a Good gentle read with a Lot and I really Mean, A Lot of food.

the beginning was great, slow and steadfast to build strong roots to grow along with mini drama or trouble that pops up from time to time.

... actually the little trouble I think is more the ML taking care of the big political players in the background. Which actually give a very big point to the ML since most men or ancient (?) men care more about reputations... more>> than the family at home... though to be fair he’s protecting both??

anyway the ML is very good to FL but I like that it’s not instant, not the fall at first sight. this story’s theme should be winning over the ML’s stomach, food is the answer to one’s heart.

ML likes and respects her for her food and intelligence.

... some say the romance is dragged out, but I can’t fault the FL because I’d be in denial too. She literally says:

and she couldn’t be more accurate. Though her goal is absolutely hilarious when I think about it:

She wants to be a salted fish, lazy while making money while cooking what she wants when she wants.

which if I put it into perspective, she wants to be an official’s Madam without the husband.

A madam has shops and manages them from a far, having more time for home management (? I don’t know what else wife of officials do) and she can cook for her family whenever she wants.

the only thing I really hav a hard time with is the 2nd ML, his misery or should I say hopes are unnecessary in my opinion. He has absolutely no chance, one because FL is in denial and Two, ML won’t even allow him to... what’s the phrase, step into her garden.

so far there’s not much romance, but I can defiantly see ML slowly cornering FL. <<less

Super yummy and easy story! FL is extremely realistic and handles all situations with a calm bearing. Some ppl may dislike how she keeps pushing the ML away, but I personally like the realistic approach. He’s practically a regent, she’s a commoner woman. The time period allowed for multiple wives and she didn’t have any support and didn’t want to deal with that kind of drama. So yeah, the romance was slow burning but progressed at a natural pace. This is a smooth sailing story with almost no drama. Even if there is, the antagonists are very super quickly removed and destroyed.

The romance between the FL and ML is the only saving grace imo. Its a very interesting premise where the FL who dislikes trouble knows that her status is not appropriate to be with the ML and so she struggles to not fall into his clutches but ML still courts her anyway.

Other than the romance, its actually a really boring read to me. The food is great but... more>> that’s it.

It is just too smooth sailing and most of FL’s problems are solved by the ML.

In fact, the translator is who saved the story as their photos of the food makes the story worth reading. When I MTLed it; it was even more boring without the food pics.

Giving it a rating of 3.5 for the story.

5 for the translation.

I like the book so far I’m only on 32 so I can’t really review the entirety of the book. I will say this book is written very nicely and the site that I’m reading it off actually shows the dishes being made so make sure you’re not hungry when eating this. The only complaint I have is how loose lipped the MC is.... more>>

I understand she wants to spread recipes to this version of China but I feel like she does it way to often regardless of her peers telling her to not do so. If it was me in this situation I would not spread these recipes especially if you’re trying to blend in.. Also like the people in the book say she’s literally losing so much money by doing this.

Don't read while hungry! A somewhat mindless but cute novel. The last 1/3 of the novel goes away from the food exposition and tries to do more plot and romance related things which I didn't like as much. However, I did really enjoy the first parts.

My favorite aspect of the novel is that by and large the people in power don't ab*se it and cause trouble for her. It's refreshing to see an emperor that is mostly just a normal kid.

It's not fully translated but the last half or so... more>> of the novel is easy to read through MTL and that's coming from a picky reader. <<less
