Lee Seonyu, an orphan who has lived alone all his life, is a perennial job seeker.

After a night of heavy drinking with a friend, he wakes up to find himself possessed by a character in a dark, explicit novel he recently read.

And the character he transmigrated into?

None other than Ed, a lowly servant who gets killed by the revenge-driven male lead!

But could it be that he transmigrated into the character too early?

In the original story, the male lead is just a 9-year-old boy with gentle eyes, mistreated as an adopted child.

Seeing the boy, Ed recognizes a reflection of his own orphaned past and decides to help him reunite with his lost brother.

“Congratulations, Young Master Ronan! And to you too, Your Grace, Grand Duke Asnel Linden!”

In the original novel, he was only briefly mentioned, but Grand Duke Asnel Linden is known for ruling the northern region, feared even by the imperial family for his cold and ruthless nature.

Yet, for some reason, he’s looking at Ed with a strange expression.

“Ed, do you have a significant other, or someone you’ve promised your future to?”

No way… could it be…?

The KR title actually specifies that the ML (Asnel) is a "Cold Northern Duke", but that can't be further from the truth. From beginning to end, he was sweet, caring and affectionate. The "cold" in the title is a scam, but that makes him 10x better than your typical BL ML.

I also found the MC (Ed) likeable. He's the same as the ML for being kind and loving, but he still has a unique charm in being rational and diligent.

The main couple's relationship sparked pretty early but progressed slow. If... more>> slow-burn's not your thing, you'd have to be patient. The plot took quite a few detours, but it was all in the process of the MC and ML getting together.

As for what I didn't like... the timeline got wonky after the story progressed. Maybe it was an error in the serialization. Though it doesn't really matter since it didn't change anything major in the story.

Spoiler

The plot itself had the makings of a 5 star BL novel. The main characters were interesting along with their abilities and the world setting wasn't bad. But be it execution or something else, plenty of things were lost in the plot such as the rifts, the monsters and the dragons. You could even find clues of a great backstory in the flashbacks of the dragon and of the main couples' parents. Sadly, they were unexplored. The potential itself made me give it a 4 star.

Nonetheless, it was interesting enough that I bought the R19+ side stories.

Spoiler

Their kid's a cutie. And despite the plot inconsistences etc., the HEA was done very nicely. ^^

This story is pretty cliche, but it's really cute and entertaining that it's forgiveable. Plus, aren't we all reading for the cliches lmfao. I think the interactions are very natural between all of the main characters and there are some really satisfying moments of revenge. The description and writing style is easy to follow and imagine scenes in your head. Very detailed and pretty. The author really knows how to properly write. The characters are likeable and don't feel forced at all. The relationship between the MC and ML is... more>> definitely a slow burn, but it's still entertaining nonetheless and not too frustratingly slow. The ML is so smooth omg

Spoiler

I will note that some of the things in the story aren't that necessary... or at least it really just seems like it's there to be an excuse for the characters to have touching moments. Rifts aren't necessary for this story at all. You could have made do without them to be honest, since there's really no need. You could have had the characters had the same interactions in the normal world with the monsters instead of being inside the Rift. Also, the introduction of the Rifts was just really abrupt and random. There is not a single mention of Rifts and its dangers in the beginning of the story and then suddenly the MC finds himself in one for no reason? I understand that the author literally tells you that Rifts open up for no reason, but like... this just felt like it came out of nowhere. I didn't even know it was a story about that at all. Same with the mosnters. I thought this was just a historical story that had magic and war in it, but now there's suddenly Rifts and monsters. Besides this, I still think it's a good read and would recommend it if you like slow burn romances with cliches

This story.. how should I put this... rambles. And not in a good way.

Just when you think it's going to get serious and address some important world building or great conflict, it pivots and turns light-hearted again never to address that plot point again. It's kinda frustrating to be honest. Villians don't get their come-uppance. Mysteries remain unsolved. Building tensions remain unresolved. Foreshadowing ignored.

It basically sets up flags and then forgets them or pulls them out in the most unsatisfactory way.

And the characters aren't growing. They're still basically as they... more>> were at the beginning of the story. I'm at chapter 106 (over half way through the story) and even the romance hasn't progressed beyond holding hands a few times and general admiration and caring.

Criticisms aside, the found family vibe is heart warming. And at least it never gets boring as it hops from plot point to plot point. The pacing is rather decent.

So if you're in the mood for fantasy slice of life poorly disguised as high fantasy romance, this is for you. <<less

i really liked the beginning but the thing I still wonder is the novel is a omegaverse or not..... it was clearly stated in 1st chapter that MC was pregnant but I don't know if this is a omegaverse...... there are no hints so far that this is going to be a omegaverse but if this is a one I hope author would not abruptly change the plot.....

the thing that concerned me was the dragon and monsters....i didin't expect that but I hope author would not make the story awkward... more>> to read.... <<less
