Found the pacing of the novel just right, and never felt really bored at any chapter as if it drags on, even on the slower chapters unlike other novels where the slow chapter put you to sleep.

I say the novel is more of a 4, but due to the really low score rating, I give it a 5 to bump it up.

4 stars. (Input rating as 5 stars as this story definitely deserves better than the current 3.8 rating)

I know, this story sounds like any other power fantasy, but I would argue that this is one of the better ones. Sure, it has typical tropes of transmigration like future knowledge etc. But what I like about this story is that it is a concise, fast-paced and fun power fantasy, without overdoing tropes too.

A lot of power fantasies start off great but lose steam because things get repetitive. This novel does... more>> a great job of keeping me on my toes the whole time, because something new is always happening in this story without being repetitive.

Another thing that this novel does better than typical power fantasy fast food novels is that the characters are well characterised and are genuinely interesting characters beyond archetypes. The underlying message of the story about friendship is also really sweet, that it isn't about the end goal but about the people that they journey with that mattered the most.

The biggest flaw in this story is the abrupt ending. The story just came to an end without any closure for the characters and readers after the last major arc. I felt like the story would have been more complete if we had gotten a wrap up of how the world in the story is going to move forward now that major world-changing events are over.

Despite the abrupt ending, if you're searching for a fast-paced action fantasy, I would highly recommend giving this a go. Thank you translators for the translation! <<less

It's decent read but fun enough for me, originally I want to give a 5 star but... the ending it just not satisfying to me, and there's not even side story or extra. Not too complicated, yup that's it. Just give it a try.

Closer to 4*, but I gave it 5 since it’s currently not completely translated despite being really good. I think it unfortunately suffers from having a generic name and premise, but it’s rather thought out and well-written despite that.

Pros:

- Main Character is very captivating and intelligent—he isn’t just stated to be intelligent, he’s actively aware of his own weaknesses and is cautious while also being critical of himself and capable of developing. There are some minor plotholes in decisions he makes ... more>>

mainly in regards to how he doesn’t seem to change his identity or really hide his power as he gets more famous (even if he does hide the most important part)

but nothing egregious or inexplainable.

- Magic! The magic system is quite fleshed out. It has a strong D&D type influence that I like. It doesn’t go into extravagant detail on the processes behind it, but it does a good job of establishing the constraints and benefits of magic as well as the characters’ relationships to it.

- Worldbuilding and plot — this is probably the strongest point. It follows a medieval fantasy mixed with game-dungeon concept that creates a sort of ‘new-age exploration’ type concept (dungeons are a frontier that they are exploring to expand humanity’s influence and get resources). There is a decent amount of politics and tension related to that as well, but the exploration aspect is rather refreshing and unique. It feels edgy/dangerous enough to where the plot actually has weight.

Cons:

- My major criticism is probably that a lot of character relationships aren’t given on-screen time to truly develop and feel ‘real’, despite a lot of other aspects of characters themselves feeling quite realistic, which is unfortunate. A lot happens off-screen in this regard, i.e. The two main characters develop their bond mainly before the start of the novel.

Overall, I’d definitely recommend giving it a read if you’re a fan of adventurer-type magic fantasy with a smart but not omnipotent main character.

I hope translators pick this back up! <<less
