One late night, Yamamoto, a college student working the night shift at a convenience store, is approached at the register by a woman in sweats. Her name is Megumi Hayashi—his classmate from high school, known as the most beautiful girl in their year. Headstrong and arrogant, she was the kind of person everyone called “the Queen.”

Back in high school, they didn’t exactly get along—in fact, Yamamoto had always found her hard to deal with. But as they engage in some casual small talk, he notices something disturbing: a painful-looking bruise on her wrist.

When he presses her for the reason, she admits, “My boyfriend hit me.”

Acting on impulse, Yamamoto brings her back to his apartment to hide her for the time being. But just as he’s about to fall asleep… Hayashi suddenly clings to him from behind!?

Thus begins a cohabitation between a jaded guy and a wounded “queen,” starting from the worst possible circumstances. Where will their unexpected living arrangement lead…?

I remember reading the wn of this before and I guess its fairly close and far to its original form, so comparing this from the wn after I finished volume 3 I have a few things id like to share in reviewing this but before those id like to review the content first.

First off the whole concept in general, I think its a alright read, do gotta warn people that it tackles domestic violence as theme, just in case yall are going in blind, it mostly pops up more often... more>> around in the first 2 volumes so if you're uncomfortable with that, than do what suits you, read it or not read it do what you want lol

Secondly characters, I think the main 3 casts are alright, I do gotta say the MC is kind of in the spectrum I think, or thats what id like to think, hes bad on social cues (but does not make him terribly dense, just bad in handling things emotionally), sometimes cold in expression but he still tries his best despite being really obssesive in cleaning (fr how do you lock on cleaning for 3 hours and do it as a hobby) and dealing with girls.

The main heroine is slowly getting back up, shes a girl who's went through alot but her development is clearly amazing, the ammount of empathay and maturity she ends up after crashing out from time to time is baffling, although she may be unreasonable at times id like to think its just her being human.

Side heroine or heroines friend, shes honestly a great char, shes flirty from time to time, overly obsessive to the heroine and honestly a great char as of the 3 volumes, id like to see more of her but
Spoiler

you could clearly see theres some history with her and the MC before and id like to see that soon

[collapse]

Its honestly an alright read I dont dislike it but I do partially like it since I read the wn before so I may be biassed, I really dont have problems with it, except for the following part of this review which you could totally skip if you dont want spoilers.

Cons and comparisons:

On the wn I remember liking reading it more than the ln as I enjoyed
Spoiler

how the wn explored the relationship between the side heroine and MCs history together, unfortunately in this LN as of volume 3 we only get hints and small bits unlike in the wn where there was 1 chapter like in the middle of the story where they fully fleshed out and explained their history, it gave of spice since im a pig when it comes to love triangles, I do hope it gets explored more in v4 but as of now thats the only thing I dislike on the ln vs wn, im sure theres more but I prolly forgot seeing as how I read it a year or 2 before

[collapse]

Aside from that theres only one plot hole in the LN that left a semi bitter taste as someone who pays attention to unnecessary details,
Spoiler

in v1 I vaguely remember the MC mentioning a little sister but it may just be my memmory but in v3 while we get to learn more about the MC he heavily implies that it was just him and his parents, it doesn't explicitly tell you about it but you'd understand it quickly, like his dad dies while he was in kindergarten, how did he get a sister? Retconned? Or maybe more lore of remarrige later on? Regardless wether its a mistake or intentional id like to know more

[collapse]

Overall I dont understand thr 1 stars of the past reviews, its not really that bad? At worst I guess id rate it a 2.8 but a 1? Really? Overall dont let the negative reviews stop you or maybe do id definitely comeback for volume 4 soon. <<less
