A really cute story with a lot of potential.

The chapters are short and straight to the point, every time I'm done reading I feel like there was so much more that could've been said about each event and character. It's a shame because the majority of chinese novels end up tiresome when authors talk too much to inflate their world count, but this one suffers from the opposite, at times it feels like it's a bit rushed.

I wish the author would've spend more time in certain scenes and interactions between... more>> characters, but regardless I had a really good time reading and I'm looking forward to what else the story will present in the future.

The translation is pretty good with some minor mistakes in grammar like the use of "him/her" sometimes being used for the wrong character, but the only real complaint I would have is that the chapters are split into two parts. Like I mentioned the chapters already feel short and after being split into two parts it makes them even shorter. <<less

So far the summary is very true to the story and the story seems to be a fluffy romance road that has some potholes where people try to step into the relationship but get swerved on by the MC and ML who are driving along in a car. The MC and ML use their past life experiences to make up for mistakes and to try and build a solid future together. So far there is an element of supernatural besides the rebirth in which the MC toaist roots come to... more>> play in that fate and fortune are mentioned but nothing too far as like demons and ghosts.

General stuff you'd learn in the first chapter:

  • MC is an orphan raised in a Taoist temple in the mountains and is a disciple (apparently not a very talented one in the mystical stuff and her master is just her father figure) who goes down the mountain when she turns 18 to experience the world and go to college
  • ML is from a good rich family and is in the military (presumably high ranking and skilled as he has trusted subordinates and such)
  • Story starts and MC and ML are already married.

I really like that both main characters are determined to be kind, loving, and protective of their relationship. They are willing to go outside their personal comfort zones to communicate and clear up misunderstandings. The characters are a little over the top but still likable. So far a fun read, with fluffy emotions scattered with some passionate kisses, and face slapping of bad guys.

I had high hopes for this novel. The first 80 chapters were quite interesting to read. Unfortunately afterward I had about 100 chapters of what I consider fillers. Author should have focused on the main characters story instead of introducing bunch of new characters that are not bringing value, at least not at the moment. The story had a lot of potential.

I might go back to complete it one day so I won’t rate it for now.

What I think first after finishing this was:

"Really? It's finished just like that?"

Because this novel seriously had so many unanswered questions and things left unsolved even until the last chapter.

So, this novel wasn't just about the sweet moments between MC and ML but there were also conflicts mainly with other nations. The scale of conflicts were quite large and there were so many enemies here and there.

MC also often attracted hatred from other people for no apparent reason.

However, not all the villains were defetead in the ending, for example:

    • The rose and skull gang who kidnapped MC back then. I thought they would be a main villain but with the additional villains, they seemed to be forgotten in the end.
    • The villain who killed MC's master back then. I don't know whether the villain was the one that was already defeated by MC and ML or there was someone else because the author didn't elaborate more.
    • The villages that raised poisonous bug. Did MC and ML completely solve those?
    • What about Bettina? Yun Ruoshan? Inoue family? There were still pretty much alive and kicking and even came to disgust MC from time to time.

The mystery behind MC and ML's rebirth was also left as a mystery until the end. There was also no clear explanation about what really happened in the past, for example: how MC and ML died back then and who was behind it? Who killed MC's master? Etc.

There was also a mystery about MC and ML's 3 years contract. MC's master said that ML's aura would save MC from misfortune so they would have to get married for at least 3 years and after that, their fate would be broken. However in the past, they clearly married for 10 years although full of misunderstandings and fightings.

MC's master also tampered MC's body so she couldn't get pregnant for 3 years but somehow, she still got pregnant? However, as usual, no explanation from the author.

MC and ML also didn't have any clear plan to avoid the future misfortune and chose to have a "go with the flow" attitude. MC only actively tried to change the future in the beginning of the story.

For example: when she tried to warn her roommates about their future misfortune in a roundabout way and eventually changed their fate.

Another thing that I found annoying was how Mary Sue and Gary Stu MC and ML were.

Many people would fall head over heels towards MC and ML. ML's suitors would be hostile towards MC and even schemed against her. MC repeatedly suffered grievance because of ML's suitors. And they're all so shameless, still stuck themselves to ML even though he already rejected them and he was already married to MC.

Meanwhile, MC's suitors weren't that antagonistic but they somehow kept obsessing over MC even though they knew she was married to ML. They even didn't hesitate to become a third party and encouraged MC to divorce ML and chose them instead which really disgusted me.

In conclusion, I couldn't say that this was an enjoyable read even though rebirth story was one of my favorite genre. I think it would be better if the author made the scale of this story smaller and there was a clear main villain in the end.

I wouldn't consider this fluff because you won't get butterflies in your stomach while reading it. I can't consider it a good romance story because there's little to no room left for their relationship to progress more. Right off the bat, they are in love with each other and having lots of skinship.
