I'll update this review after finishing the entire novel, but for now:

This is a solid wuxia martial arts novel, easily an 8/10. The world-building is well-crafted, the story is engaging, and the characters are well-written.

There are no cliché "s*upid young masters" or heroines fainting in awe of the MC's greatness.

The protagonist is written realistically, is interesting to follow and the world is filled with compelling characters of both genders.

The only thing lacking so far is romance—nothing particularly concrete has developed yet.

Although the starting did feel like info dumping, I loved the world-building. Murim+gates - it used this concept brilliantly.

MC is rather gentle and righteous. But I also found him a bit of a pushover. Especially the part where he agreed to help that little girl when that pang girl asked him.

I mean he had already helped them enough. I don't get why he was getting involved with them again and again.

Especially when they, as the righteous family, had done nothing for Namguang in past. No matter the blood feud, the Namguang family elders fought against black sects. They could have helped them a bit.

But oh well, maybe it's only me.

Rating- 3 stars

60 chapters in and no progress. The MC is engaged more in romance and martial arts. Different martial arts techniques name pop up here and there which god knows when will be useful.

It's just another round of info dumping and there is no Harem so far but there is romance.

Don't get me wrong, I am fine with romance, but this pang girl is so annoying. She so dependent on MC for both martial arts and personal stuff. I rather have her more independent woman who follow her own martial arts journey to be with MC. She doesn't need to be too op but at least not feel like baggage.

Also I am so far in story and there is so little about namguang family?? MC is not even telling his family name and he only so little about them.

There is so much info dumping but still the novel title had nothing to do with story is just insane. They as well had not made it a plot point.....

Like I had been here for 60 chapters I am more interested in knowing nobles and empire dynamics than martial techniques which have nothing to do with story and bunch of romance.

(Plus- you know there is even half a chapter dedicated to MC clothing and how he likes korean more than chinese and all that stuff.)

Anyway, I will read it I have nothing read. But most likely I will drop it. <<less
