80s Era + Arranged Marriage

Jiang Niannian, a capitalist heiress running a pet shop, is blasted into the 1980s by an explosion.

The real daughter has returned through rebirth, ruining Jiang Niannian’s reputation and forcing her—the fake daughter—to marry a feared village tyrant in her place.

So Jiang Niannian, soft and delicate as she was, ended up sleeping with the man three times… then left him five mao (cents) and ran away.

After moving to the countryside, both her biological parents and the village’s cats, dogs, and mice all doted on her.

Then, the man she had slept with three times cornered her against a wall.

Xiao Jingyan: “Your dog slept with my dog. You slept with me. Are neither of you planning to take responsibility?”

Jiang Niannian: “Comrade, let me explain…”

Meanwhile, her niece An’an—reincarnated from a child-giving immortal—insists on giving her beloved Aunt Niannian ten sets of ten-tuplets to repay the favor of raising her.

Jiang Niannian: “Please… I really can’t take this.”

This had a lot of potential but it fell so flat that I lowkey felt it was a waste of time to read this. It felt very rushed in so many places, with no actual connections between characters and basically no plot whatsoever. The romance was non existent and literally no chemistry/actual romance going on. Many of the characters are not fleshed out and because it was quite obvious that the author cut the story short, it literally ended with a 3 years later and a "let's get... more>> married, I fixed the problem behind the scenes so we good now." then boom. Done. HAHAHAH

It felt like the author was a fan of the transmigration trope in the 80s and had many ideas but was trying to put them all together without knowing how to narrate an actual plot and so it just became a mess where it feels like a lot yet nothing was happening at the same time.

I did like the premise of being able to talk to animals and how she used that ability to predict any and all dangers. But on the downside it felt like there was no real danger at all since it was like "this animal informs me this and I save myself from the situation, then this animal tells me that and I save myself again" kind of thing. Over and over again.

And literally in the final chapter, it feels like we are reading a summary of all the conclusions the author wanted to clarify. AHHAHA so yeah not satisfying to read at all, especially knowing that we never know what happens to all the bad guys.

Spoiler

There's even the part with the youngest brother who was a total brat the whole time, literally the whole novel and was not likeable in any way and it was funny how it felt like the author didn't know what to do with him and therefore made him get child-trafficked in the middle fo the story so we don't have to listen to him anymore and then get his conclusion of being found by the final chapter haHAHHA hopefully he's a better person by then.

[collapse]

The only reason I gave this another star was because the main character and her mom (and also the oldest brother) had likeable personalities. But literally everyone else was so ambiguously frustrating that u kinda wish they were written off. <<less
