I fell into a wannabe murim.

But apparently martial arts is supposed to be difficult?

Hm… Is it really that bad?

What is it that makes you interested in a novel? For me, it is always the characters.

One of the things I like is that the heroines aren't there just to look pretty, they're all well-fleshed out individuals and strong in their own right.

For as long as I've been into anime, novels, manga, I've disliked tsunderes, so it's been a long time since I've seen one I haven't disliked! And that's the first heroine. Her dynamic with our main character Lee Seojun is adorable and definitely one of the highlights of... more>> the novel. She's the little sister type and a tsundere done right.

The second heroine is righteous and will not back down for what she believes in even in the face of death. Honestly, there's a certain scene where she nearly stole my heart away. And also, she's a flirty, proactive big sis character. I know I caught some of you. Yep. She's the one.

Some people may be put off by Seojun at the start, but I believe they are seeing him in the wrong light or haven't read more than 3 chapters. He's a chuuni, memer, and mentally insane. To put him in another way, he's not a hero nor a villain, but for those he cares about, he would go up even against god. He's just someone that wants to live peacefully with his little sister.

And let's be real, most people who read these kinds of novels are chuunis. Yep I self-insert, what about it? I'm a big chuuni. There are some who are offput by them, but I LOVE THEM. Repeating edgy lines like,

"Cry... Hell Sword."

I'm cringing already, but I love it. There's so many other things just like that in the novel.

In fact I would say that earlier on is one of the weaker parts and it's one of those novels that only just gets better as it goes on.

I have good taste, I swear. <<less

I have some mixed feelings about this novel, but honestly, it has its charm. First off, Chun Bong absolutely carries the story, change my mind. Her dynamic with the MC is easily the best part. Their sibling-like bond feels so natural and heartwarming, and it's what kept me hooked even when other parts of the story fell flat.

The story starts off with the MC waking up in some random alley, in weird clothes, and in a younger body. From there, it's just chaos, a mix of martial arts, memes, and... more>> ridiculous humor. The comedy really stands out, with the MC dropping slang, parodying anime, and pulling off some of the most absurd antics I've seen in a murim novel. If you're into lighthearted, meme-heavy humor, it's hilarious. But if you're expecting a serious martial arts story, it's definitely not that.

The martial arts side is pretty standard. The MC has crazy luck, defeats stronger opponents, and gets these random, fortuitous boosts. But it's all just a setup for more jokes and gags, so don't expect too much tension or depth in the action scenes. Honestly, the time skips really bugged me because they skipped over moments that could've made the MC and Chun Bong's development way better. Feels like such a missed opportunity.

The writing is decent, but it has issues. The POV switches between first and third person, and it can be really jarring. Plus, the heavy use of memes and slang might not work for everyone. Younger readers or anyone into meme culture will probably love it, but older readers or those expecting a traditional murim novel might struggle to get into it.

That said, the novel has its originality going for it. The humor and unorthodox approach really set it apart, even if it leans too much on comedy for some people. The setting is murim, but with a few unique twists that make it stand out. I do think the start might turn people off because the MC comes across as such an ungrateful jerk at first, but he gets better as the story goes on.

Overall, it's chaotic, ridiculous, and surprisingly fun. If you're into meme-filled, lighthearted storytelling with a martial arts twist, you'll probably enjoy it. Just don't expect too much seriousness or depth. For me, it's a solid 7/10. Definitely worth a shot if you're in the mood for something different. <<less

The other reviews speak the truth, The MC and Chunbongs relationship is very enjoyable, 5 stars worthy even. His relationship with his "older sister" later is also pretty fun. Other aspects of the novel are done to a satisfactory level, and pacing is quite good. The novel is pretty weird in things like using Lingo or other types of genz language from time to time but the novel doesn't take itself very seriously anyways, sort of like a wacky D&D party type of vibe. World building is sort of a... more>> parody of Murim, and the author often self-satirizes himself.

Recommended for people who like

  1. OP MC
  2. Ruthless MC
  3. Silly and wholesome relationships
  4. Character focused story
  5. Light Isekai elements

I honestly liked it. Especially the interaction with chungbong and MC. And how the MC is just too chaotic and does whatever he wants. I also like how his past isn't just normal and there's more to it that meets the eye that causes him to be the way he is now.

The only part I don't really like is the second heroine because I am only here for chungbong and MC. And she just gets in the way of their interactions. I also don't really like the flirty types and... more>> those that uses their charm to make their MC do their bidding. And I especially hate the part where her interactions with MC makes the MC look dumb and make him seem like a virg*n korean MC that doesn't know how to interact with women.

but all in all, this is a decent and entertaining novel <<less
