Hmmmm. I get the vibe this might end up being pretty good. Just 4 chapters so far. Each chapter is pretty long and the translation is def smooth and well edited. What seems to be a strong fella is reincarnated, not sure into a new body or the old one, and sets out to find someone very important to him that seems to have come back as well, though from context that person may not have their memories. Story starts pretty abruptly and gets right into itself but not in... more>> a way that bothered me I guess? Looks to be small info dumps as we go which I don't mind at all. It's pretty soon to tell but I feel like this one will have some nice humor all throughout. Anyway, so far so good - give it a shot and see what you think. <<less

Alternative title: Gojo Satoru reincarnates in the Murim World.

Very decent read. A small problem though.

Long rant about MCs personality ahead:

The author tries to make a lovable dork archetype and it works for a few chapters. But, after a while the lovable moments become rare while the dork side is taking more screen time. MC lazes around, is generally rude to enemies and allies alike. The frustrating part is that he really wants to become a better person for his lover, yet does nothing or just selfish acte that oppresses his... more>> noble desire. Like he is suppose to be this Murim big shot with resources and many ways to find her, yet he does just the bear minimum. This inconsistency in his character is very irking to me and makes me feel like reading the thoughts of a hypocrite. You might like that or you might not. Personally, I just started to feel bad for the other characters like the students, colleagues, his subordinates or even his enemies, who have to deal with MCs antics. Sometimes I just want him to burn the academy to the ground which would be more fitting for his character. Well, at least you don't need to worry about a grown man wanting to date his student because it is very implied that MC lied about his age and is actually much younger than 25. Probably the same age as the students.

Translation: Quiet decent, but not perfect like small gender mistakes. They are not very noticeable so it's still ok. <<less

It's... decent. If you want to read about a "whimsical" and "playful yet lazy" MC play a teacher in a Slice-of-Life Murim academy story, then you'll probably enjoy this. Now, if you want to read what the synopsis portrays, you'll be severely disappointed.

I don't think there's been a single time in 50 chapters that the MC actually makes an effort to look for his "wife". Hell, even calling her his "wife" is a bit of a stretch. She's more like someone he knew for a long time through happenstance than... more>> a wife, at least from what I understood.

After a few chapters, you'll learn real quick that the MC is insanely strong (shocker, I know). He's one of, if not the strongest, person in Murim. And you're telling me that this guy, someone who knows countless techniques and has his own powerful organization at his beck and call, can't find a single person? I mean, he could literally just pay someone like the Beggars Sect or Hao Clan to search for her, then sit back and wait. Or just ask his own willing subordinates... But somehow, he comes to the conclusion that he needs to be an instructor at the academy on the off chance she's there? Sorry, I'm not so brain-rotted yet from MTL that I'd just look past that.

The whole plot is just so contrived and forced. The MC is strong yet incredibly lazy. If he's not forced to move, he won't. He's supposed to be this chaotic-esque character, but we mostly get the bored/lazy side. To me, he's more suited as a supporting character than an actual MC...

I don't know, there are just way too many plot holes for me to enjoy this story, and the further along you go, the more they pop up. Then again, I'm also an avid Murim hater. I always try to read Murim novels when they come out, and always end up hating them... So, take my opinion with a grain of salt if this is your thing. I hate that, for every Murim story, you can take 1 chapter and immediately remove half of it because the other half will be something along the lines of "You brat! How dare you disrespect your Elders! I'm one year older than you! Listen to me!" and other such nonsense. I'm here to read a story, not about a boomer trying to validate his ego and sense of superiority...

Yet somehow, this novel takes that to the extreme... It's pretty much only about boomers trying to feel superior and the MC being too lazy to do anything about it.

The fact that this is rated 4/5 is criminal. <<less
