“I have no intention of touching a woman. That applies even to my wife.”

Ryu Sung-woon, a man seeking a child through in vitro fertilization from his blind date partner. Instead, Su-hwa steps in for the woman who stormed out and offers him a contract marriage.

“I’ll give birth to your child.”

After five years, she reunites with her first love. But Sung-woon fails to recognize her—not even realizing she was the intruder who once climbed over the villa’s wall.

However, on their wedding night, when she expects them to sleep in separate rooms, her husband climbs into her bed.

“W-Why are you taking off your clothes?”

“Then, do you prefer keeping them on, Ms. Song Su-hwa?”

Sung-woon had even come out as a man who preferred men. He didn’t want to be with a woman, which was why he had insisted on in vitro fertilization. So why…?

“What’s the problem? You said you’d bear my child. It was clearly stipulated in the prenuptial contract and notarized, wasn’t it?”

Looking into his wife’s wide, startled eyes, Sung-woon smirked in satisfaction. The intruder who had once made him question his own s*xual orientation had walked right into his life.

How could he have forgotten those dark, pebble-like eyes? He had imagined kissing her countless times.

“I won’t let you slip away a second time.”

It seems my preference has always been the same. Back then and now, it’s still you.

The classic arranged marriage setup — rich ML paired up with an FMC whose family is neck-deep in debt. The ML has no interest in women — in fact, he's openly declared himself gay to his family and is physically repulsed by any form of intimacy with a woman, to the point of breaking out in rashes. Years ago, he met someone who snuck onto his family estate. Mistaking the intruder for a thief at first, he eventually realized that this person was the only one he felt drawn to,... more>> without any of the revulsion he experienced with others. Believing this person to be a man, he spent years convinced he was gay. 😶‍🌫️ Fast forward to the family forcing him to marry and produce an heir (as toxic rich families do), and in comes our FMC, sold out by her vile excuse of a family. Honestly, her relatives are so detestable they'll have your blood pressure skyrocketing in no time. The poor girl's ab*sed, manipulated, and basically trapped because her evil father is holding her mother hostage. The only way out? Marry a rich stranger.

Spoiler

Plot twist — guess who the FMC turns out to be? Yep, the very same person ML fell for years ago. Only back then, she was disguised as a man. Once ML puts two and two together, he's suddenly very interested in turning their marriage of convenience into something much more physical (if you catch my drift 😉). What was meant to be a cold, appearance-only marriage quickly turns into something much more intense and possessive.

[collapse]

Is this tropey? Absolutely. Have I read this type of setup before? A dozen times. Did I still devour it like my favorite guilty pleasure snack? You bet I did. I'm a sucker for a domineering ML who isn't afraid to crush anyone who dares to mistreat the FMC, and this story delivers exactly that. And ML is genuinely likeable too, slowly catching on to FMC's hellish situation and taking her side against her tr*sh family. I love that

The romance builds slowly, with a good amount of tension and chemistry. The smut, for now, leans more toward fade-to-black scenes, though the story does a great job hinting at the intensity between them. It's that kind of simmering tension that keeps you turning pages.

I also have to give credit to the translation — the translators from Lily from the Valley consistently delivers excellent work, and this is no exception. Honestly, most of my favorite knovels lately have come from them.

Overall, it's a guilty pleasure read with a likeable ML, a satisfying revenge-family-destruction arc on the horizon, and just enough tension to keep things interesting. Five stars (for now) — can't wait to see how the story develops. <<less
