I am speechless. I don't have words to describe what a thrilling journey this novel was.

It was mind-boggling.

To the new readers, sit back and prepare yourselves. This is definitely something you don't want to miss. The plot is mind-numbingly twisty, it'll leave you in awe.

... more>> It may get a bit hard to follow but it'll be really worth it.

Before you start reading, just keep in mind what you're getting yourself into, it has a lot of triggering stuff, and is easily one of the most plot-focused stories you'll ever see so you will have to keep up. You'll have to run your brain and put in effort to get the most possible clear picture, but trust me, you will enjoy it a lot.

So definitely do give it a try. It's so underrated. For the exceptional writing, plot, character development, this should have easily entered the top 5 danmei. I would say that if you're newly delving into the danmei worls, this should definitely be in your starter pack.

One of the best novel I read. The storyline is interesting. The relationship between Ji Yushi and Song Qinglang progressed in such a natural way it was so sweet. The translation is very easy to read. PLEASE give it a try I promise you will not regret it!

The genre of this novel confused me at first, as it starts off with an apocalypse arc and then shifts into basically a time travelling conspiracy mystery. Safe to say, it was very engaging once I finally got a handle on where the story was going, and I quickly fell in love with all the various characters of the ensemble cast.

MC is a bit overpowered with his perfect memory ability, but he's not perfect and though he can take care of himself, he also learns to depend on ML. They... more>> have a very equal partnership and intuitive understanding of each other- pretty standard CP behavior in danmei I would say. They're also more on the touchy side when they get together, which I personally love to see.

Call out to that confession scene though, literally the most chaotic thing I have ever read. Really probably the funniest scene in this otherwise somber novel, while also being so sincere and emotional- if nothing else, read this novel for that moment because it was actually gold. ML's feelings culminated in such a beautiful way, really one of my favorite confession scenes ever.

The plot does wrap up nicely at the end, but I was still a bit confused at all the time bending and timeline shenanigans. I don't think it's possible to not be confused though? Since it's all made up physics it's not going to make too much sense in our understanding of science, but I did like how author added in some real world science to the mix!

Reminds me of how confused I was reading "Nights" - the parallels of that story and this one are interesting that's for sure. (Given that Nights was published 3 years earlier I wonder if Mist is influenced by it?)

Only thing that annoyed me, it's kind of a pet peeve of mine, but I don't like when characters are introduced as "homophobic" but then aren't homophobic in the slightest. Safe to say, ML is not homophobic and there's really no reason for him to be introduced as such? I came in expecting him to at the very least act disgusted by MC but no, nothing. A little disappointed ngl, I mean this man is so accepting of the gays that:

When he misinterprets MC's three cats to be three boyfriends, his only thoughts are worry for MC to take better care of his body and also worry that MC having three men means none will value him enough??? Like there's literally zero judgement, give his man a green flag.

Soo.. I felt the ending was hella rushed?? Ntm at first I understood the time stuff, and then, progressively, didn't 😭. I understood less and less... Also going back to oroboros ?! I was stumped.... It felt like they got together for a week and then ML is already ready to die for ml...?? The s*x scenes were okay. But, what?? Also, MC of the past sees ML and MC of the future (present?) and he basically sees ML "force himself " on.. himself.. of the future..??

and it's literally... more>> never mentioned again. The injuries seemed realistic until these guys started running around w BROKEN HANDS like it's NOTHING?? Like. "Arm bent the wrong way but he's a big boy and doesn't need anyone to worry Abt him" HELLO??

As is common for these novels, they need to finish the moment the CP gets together... They're only good until then.. but alas, atp, ur alr hooked!!! Mf!!!! Sob sob

Also ML got bent waaaay too easily... This "straight, homophobic man" realised he had feelings for a guy and was like aight that's cool. UHM LMAO WHAT HAPPENED TO UR SETTING

Won't even comment on the time loops. I simply can't. I lost track at some point, gave up, and proceeded to enjoy... I think somewhere around Rubik's cube I lost it. What colors what sides, what??? Woe to whoever gets to animate this.. if they ever do XD

Also. MC goes from very strong to puppy-like based on povs. Makes it seem like he's hyping himself a lil in bjs own mind.... Lollll totally offset the cool image lolol... But overall good read. The end wasn't "mind blowing" like the reviews said, simply because, I couldn't understand it. XD. Hahaha... What big circle, what?? What meeting up w ur future selves what??? I was so confused the entire way thru... XD and then just laid down and accepted it lolol ok Ji Yushi whatever u say XD

Anyways solid 8 or 9/10. Passed the time, I enjoyed reading it, still can't compete w top picks like mxtx. Overall solid read.. I love this genre whatever it's called XD I read them unlimited flow novels annually, requires too much brain power to do it any more frequently.

Amazing!

I didn't expect to like it because I'm not fun of reading novels where I need to analyze what I'm reading lol. It's not my first but I didn't read that many.

Anyway, I love it. I was bored before but when reading this I'm too focused and made my day reading this fulfilling.

All I can say was, time travel really made everything worst. Be it butterfly effect or what, in human life it become obsession.

Lesson learned: Don't regret anything. Just keep going forward and don't look back to the past mistakes, because everything is okay.

This is a mind-blowing unlimited flow novel with time travel. Highly recommend it!

This is one of the most creative and well thought-out plots I've ever read! The plot is complex and the author clearly put a lot of effort into it. The translator also provides a diagram for the first arc in case anyone gets very confused. I really enjoyed the development of the romance as the MC and ML first start out with bad impressions of each other. Another reason why I liked this novel is that the superpower... more>> that makes the MC OP is also his crutch at the same time - I like heroes with flaws.

With that said, my recommendation does come with some caveats, First, it's a slow burn with more romance later in the story - survival first! Second, time travel is complicated - there are times when the story will make you think hard. Don't get too hung up if something doesn't make sense right away - it usually becomes clear later as the story moves on. Lastly, as some other reviewers pointed out, the prose is good but not amazing. Read this for the story content and not the writing quality.

And it helps to take notes especially of the date and time. <<less

MINDBLOWING!! didn't really feel like a slowburn to me but omg the novel was awesome!!!!! a must read even if u don't enjoy BL. just the plot is enough to make people stay.

just a reminder to those who have yet to read this novel: don't look at spoilers!

since everything is linked tgt, if u accidentally know something ahead of time then it plot would be less thrilling n exciting! (it will ruin your experience)

overall, the plot and romance part is a 100/10! super cute relationship and I loved how... more>> the MC and ML interacted with each other. also, I would really like to give the MC a big hug and tell him that everything will be alright <3

homophobic part

tbh it wasn't all that bad. I expected much worse from the synopsis but thankfully it was still in the acceptable range. the ML seemed like an a** at the start but I can totally understand why he said those things from his perspective. being the captain, he has many responsibilities and he has to make sure of his teammates safety. with the addition of the MC who seemed weak and lacking, it probably felt to him that the MC will probably be a burden to the team. however during the first arc he will quickly understand that the MC is not what he seems and the whole team will soon acknowledge his abilities and strengths. so actually during the first arc, the 'homophobic' behaviour of the team is not really observed. plus the team members aren't really homophobic at the start...? they are just a bunch of straight guys that just have bad experiences w someone who is also gay. whereas the ML is a 'deeply closeted gay' haha just joking. he probably was straight until he met the MC.

lastly, this novel made me feel really dumb. it was so complex and minblowing that I had to stop and repeat some parts multiple times before being able to understand what it meant or was trying to convey. really wondered how the writer wrote such an amazing novel... <<less

Read up to C13. Good read so far, but it is quite annoying how much the MC and ML are described every couple of paragraphs. For the nth time, I’ve read how the MC is soft, delicate and fair, while the ML is tall and strong. Sigh. I get it already. They’re in a life and death mission, yet we have to be reminded of their attractiveness every other sentence! Another best novel that I've ever read. It's almost on par with Global Examination, the difference was just like 0.5 hehe.

Okay, let's begin my review about this novel

Plot : 10/5

I can't imagine that the plot of this story will be this great. Since the plot itself is pretty heavy, mainly about time and space which still have a lot of mystery untill now, but this story makes everything looks interesting and amazing. There is no plot hole, the answer will come along the story, so you need to make sure... more>> to read it till the end. And what amazed me more is the fact that everything was made sense like I don't confuse by the logic.

I also want to give applause for KK Translates for give us a top tier translation.

Character : 100/5

MC and ML also power or smart couple and I love both of them so much. The story itself didn't focus much on our couple since they were in a team with seven person. Everyone had their own role and no one left out. It's just perfect.

Ending : 5/5

The ending was the best, but

I still want to know about his father. Don't get me wrong, the story itself explain it to us. But still, at least I want him meet our MC for the last time. He already hurt so bad : (

By no means is this a perfectly written story, but the intrigue, the mystery, the pacing, and the overall chemistry not only between the two leads but between all characters made this a fascinating and pleasantly enjoyable read. I started and didn't stop until the end.

Plot:

  • Very very very very well done
  • Involves lots of scientific stuff so if you don't actually like those you might not understand it
  • Anyways I am a science nerd so yeah basically I loved it
  • The 'scientific' explanation is not perfect (some kinda made me cringe) but it's good enough to not make me want to skip parts or drop the book
  • It's a difficult read, very plot heavy
  • The pacing is great, and there's never a dull moment at all
Characters and CP:

  • Love them. Love them all.
  • All characters have this distinct personality, and the mains are just so comfortable with each other it is beautiful to read
  • Also the ML is not homophobic, and neither are his teammates. The summary makes it seem like they are but they absolutely aren't.
  • The relationship of the CP was well developed and not forced, just very beautifully written.

STOP READING THE REVIEWS AND JUST READ THIS NOW!!! This really deserves a 5 star rating. It's so intense from beginning to end. The synopsis really doesn't capture even a third of how well-written and thrilling this story is.

The plot and characters are complex, so I sometimes had to sit with a chapter to understand the theories about time-travel/looping. Many moments actually gave me goosebumps, which doesn't happen. "Tianqiong" is like a company that protects earth by going back in time or the future to eradicate dangerous events like terrorist... more>> attacks, wars, assassinations, etc that could mess up the world. You grow attached to all the characters quickly because they are put in crazy life/death situations, it's thrilling, creepy, intellectual, romantic, and funny. <<less

It's really good 10 out of 10. I've been reading a lot of bl's lately and this one stands out the most.

The story can be somewhat confusing but all of it will make sense as you read along. The romance is also good. Rn, I'm kind of in the middle of an apocalypse phase, reading this to have a change of pace but was delightfully surprised bcs the first arc is kind of an apocalyptic style 🤩

This is really good. I'm not into sci fi and I'm so glad I started this story. Once I started, I really couldn't stop. The Rubik arc really had me confused, I had to read it twice lol. Our MC was so strong, not just intellectually but physically too and our dear ML was a perfect match.

Translation team did a great job!

This kinda reminds me of a movie called Pre-destination, there are no coincidence only cause and effects. This is my kind of sci-fi theme where EVERYHING makes sense. I just hope that the side-characters would have their own development, I mean they did but in an extra? (Can't get enough of their humor and all)

Overall, it was a very satisfactory read. Great translation. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I've always been in love with stories about time travel, especially if it's done well. And Mist is definitely one of those well done. Reading novels about time travel requires a lot of effort and focus because it will only goes two ways for the readers, either you will fail to understand it and leave you confuse, or you will feel confuse but you will still hit all the marks in the end. Maybe because both the author and the translator done a great job in creating and... more>> translating this wonderful novel, though I lose most of my brain cells reading this, the flow of the time travel plot is clear as day to me. The story has another level of complexity and you'll never know the actual sequence of the events but it was supposed to work that way because all the events are flowing in circle, no beginning and no ending.

I admire the way the author scattered a lot of foreshadowing all throughout the novel, and in the end you'll realize that the seemingly casual words that was thrown at the beginning actually carried deeper meaning. That's why it was really important to focus on the MC and ML's words. It would leave you speechless once you discover all the hidden foreshadows. The plot gets thicker and thicker each moment and you'll be reluctant to put it down even for a short break. That's the reason why I binge read this novel in a single breath. The mind-blowing plot twists are amazing!

All the characters are great!

The ML is supposed to be the homophobic, straight guy but in the end he's just a deeply closeted gay (exact words from the MC) without a single awareness. He didn't even realize that

already cemented his s*xual orientation. He was 'homophobic' because of his 'trauma' that he experienced from his creepy gay suitor and ended up generalizing all the gay guys. He was the typical 'judging the book by its cover' person and he really underestimated the MC a lot at the beginning. And that exact attitude comes back to bite him in the ass and slap his face hard in the future. I don't hate his character and I actually find him interesting. Introducing him this way meant that he was going to go through a lot of character development, and I love great character development that happens naturally.

The MC is this indifferent, calm and collected guy with a cold, pretty face. He's an open gay and proud of his s*xual orientation. I loved it whenever the ML shows his disdain towards the MC, saying that he should just stay as the team's flower vase and avoid doing something that will drag the team down and just lay down and win or that he looked so fragile and might not even able to protect himself, and the MC was like *shrugs shoulders* and didn't even give a single f*ck. Since he has a condition called Hyperthymesia that makes him remember every single details that he saw, felt and heard, he was not only the brain of the team that analyzes the situation, he also has a huge contribution in making their team complete the mission. Not only that, because he has the ability to remember everything, he would certainly not let a single grievance go unreturned. He was a vengeful little devil. Do something bad and he will surely write the note down. The moment that you already forget about it, that's the time he will make you pay.

The MC and the ML really complement each other. The way their relationship just smoothly and naturally progressed. The tension even in their 'enemy stage' is palpable and the slowly building up romance is perfectly made. The ML's feeling towards the MC is natural, from disdain --> appreciation and respect --> care --> love, it didn't feel awkward at all. The ML slowly felt the 'foreign' feeling inside of him and only thought that he cared for him as a teammate, but when he realized the true meaning of his feelings, he was not in denial just because he thought he was a straight guy and tried to brushed it away. No, he didn't do that. He accepted it and finally realized that he can actually have that kind of feeling towards the MC, regardless of the s*xual orientation. The fluff that comes after the confession makes me so giddy, I actually found myself grinning countless times.

Also, the guys from the seventh squad, I can't say enough good things about them. They're all so funny, lively, loyal and so likeable. I adore their relationship as a team so much. I especially loved them after the confession part. They're all like a mischievous children teasing and pairing their friends together and they're the biggest shipper of the MC and ML.

All in all, this novel is highly recommended! I only have limited words to describe how much amazing this was. It was so worth it! <<less

It was interesting. Story wise, I can tell the author put a lot of thought into it. The characters were compelling and the dynamic between the squad members was enjoyable to read. In fact, the human element in this story made it worth the read. Especially the MC's struggle. However, the story overall is not my cup of tea.

The explanations of time and space travel and the different theories are interesting if you like digging into physics theory, however if you are like me and don't want to think too much when reading just for entertainment then you may get annoyed after a while because this story centers around many time space concepts that the author tried to explain and demonstrate... not always successfully in my opinion. That's the second reason I don't give this review five stars.

Another reason for not being satisfiy is also the same reason why I liked it, the characters' imperfections

The MC is petty. The ML makes too many assumptions leading to misunderstandings. The MC's father is an *sshole, though I get why he abandoned his son he's still the worse dad.

I'm not a fan of quick transmigration stories where they world hop and that's how I felt reading about them going from mission to mission. It even had a d*mn "system" which hijacked them and I'm not a fan of system stories either... so yeah I'm ranting because I FEEL TRICKED!! I feel like I read a system and world hopping novel in disguise. *pouting*

Pros :

The MC. MC is smart, too smart sometimes but still cute. I like how there's a story about why MC became that way. MC seems human and has feelings. The ML is kinda annoying at first but you'll soon realised that ML cares a lot about his teammates. ML has a lot of good qualities. Their relationship is to die for literally. ML loves MC more than you think. I like how everything ties up.

The arcs are super interesting. My fav is the ouroboros arc. It's understandable as I... more>> am an avid zombie fan. The story is plot heavy, sometimes I need to space between chaps.

MC's dad. Damnnn I hated him at first but the last main chapter changes everything. Now I shall proceed to cry myself to sleep. Fortunately the extras soothe my soul.

Cons :

Sometimes too plot heavy, I don't rlly mind it. There's not a lot of romance scenes in the first half but more of I-will-suffer-to-see-you-happy type of chapters. <<less
