Hyperthymesia. Those with this condition can remember every detail of their lives from something as significant as the world’s turning point to something as small and as insignificant as a minor fleeting thought. They cannot forget and their thirst for knowledge allows them to be considered genius in some senses.

Legend has it that Ji Yushi was this kind of genius.

In addition, it was said that he was gay and very beautiful.

As soon as the news that he was going to support Tianqiong’s seventh squad broke out, it sent everyone buzzing.

Everyone knew that the captain of the seventh squad, Song Qinglan, was a hoodlum and deeply homophobic.

He not only relied on his super-powerful abilities to become the dark horse on the battlefield in less than two years, but he also hates it when those at the top forced a flower vase* into his squad.

Sure enough, Song Qinglan announced in front of everyone, “Useful? Us brothers are going out there working ourselves to the bone, we don’t need a little genius who can only speedread quantum waves!”

Later.

The squad was forced into a dire situation during their mission.

That beautiful little genius calmly continued, every gunfire hitting the mark, his fighting power peaking.

Song Qinglan begged in front of everyone, “Adviser Ji, stay.”

In the end, he added, “I’ll work myself to the bone for you.”

*****

Ji Yushi had a secret.

He would often be awake at night, suffering from memory overload and recurring nightmares.

There was only one thing that could let him fall asleep peacefully.

And that was Song Qinglan.

*Flower vase: Someone who only looks pretty but can’t amount to much

This gem is so underrated!! I believe this deserves more reads and love.

The plot itself is great and compelling. It might seem a bit complicated at first with all the time and space theories and stuff but you will eventually get the hang of it.

I also love the character dynamics. The 7th squad are so funny and I loved how their friendship grew through their life and death experiences together.

I won't say much about the main couple, THEY ARE SO CUTE. And it was just a joy to see their... more>> relationship blossom.

Anyways, I won't say much anymore because I don't wanna spoil. IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR A SIGN TO READ THIS, THIS IS IT! GO FOR IT. <<less

This books is amazing!!😭. I love the characters. If you love survival, futuristic setting, mystery that is wrapped up so tightly your brain would go numb, pls read this book!

****

Ji Yushi gets drafted into the seventh squad as a temporary scout since the former teammate had an accident. At first he didn't want to. He was secured with his work as a Recorder.

... more>> But he was convinced by his chief to take this specific job.

The seventh squad is said to be quite homophobic, especially the captain. Ji Yushi certainly isn't gonna fit in this team... seeing as he was gay.

But he was smart, a genius, in fact. Due to some circumstances and (character setting and development by the author). He is able to far exceed the (low and non-existent) expectations of his teammates.

The ML isn't exactly homophobic as what was stated in the summary. It was more like he looks down on the MC. His job involves dangerous tasks and the safety of the team is his responsibility as a captain. Having someone who wasn't trained to be a guardian and had been added to the team made him think that it would become a burden when they go through the mission. The rate of success in each mission would lessen if one of the teammates can't pull their own weight. The difference between a guardian and a recorder is much like a front line soldier and a office clerk. Also, there is a big difference between the tasks of the two.

His biased opinion towards Ji Yushi will be set straight much faster than one expects. JYS is truly a genius and it shone right after they started the first mission. I love his characterization. Cool, calm, and beautiful genius. He holds grudges and since his memory is too good, whatever the ML once said to him, he manages to use it as a counter statement in the next argument, leaving Song Qinglan speechless all the time. And his strength as an individual, in terms of mental and physical capacity wouldn't lose out on the team. In fact his mental fortitude in the midst of all that is happening becomes the team's greatest benefit.

The story progresses in fast-paces. Guardians work involves danger. What if they die during a mission while in another time? What would happen to their present timeline? What would happen if they meet their past selves?

There's a lot of mystery in this book that needs to be unravelled. I had a hard time processing some parts so I reread several paragraphs most times, especially the explanation in the arcs.

It's a bit hard, mainly coz I wanted to picture out exactly what the author is telling thru her characters.

The plot of the story is truly unexpected. There are several theories about time, parallel dimensions and such, that are imbedded into the story. (Most of which I don't know wtf coz I didn't pay attention in my Physics class.🤣)

There are arcs that involve gore and cannibalism, so beware. I don't want to go into details coz it will spoil it a bit (I guess?). Seven major arcs that involves their mission and their own timeline, plus the transfer station chaps and the ending. The story transitions so smoothly in between arcs. I love how the author twisted the story and stretched the topic of time travel and the cause and effects of tearing through time and space to its utmost limit, making it believable.

The romance is gradually introduced. As soon as the bias against both characters get settled, the natural treatment of the CP towards one another as teammates who wants to survive all those dangers gets better. Don't expect automatic romantic relationship. The book is not just that. But, no worries, the author scattered dog food crumbs. Banter that always feels like flirting and such. Also, the rest of the seventh squad are hilarious af.

Li Chun, works on logistics who suffers from motion sickness, Old Duan, who does the control and is amazing with tech stuff. Zhou Mingxuan who deals with the machinery, the twins Tang Le and Tang Qi.

There are a lot of fluffy moments between the CP especially in the later chaps.. around 70sh. Probably some bits and pieces in the early chaps, but I can't think of them rn, coz my brain was too busy with a lot of stuff in those that included trying to calculate possibilities of the characters dying.🤣

There are flaws, of course, but in my reading case, the good outweighs those.... so READ IT! READ IT! READ IT! <<less

This is a great novel right here. Everything is super duper good that you just have to love it. I don't know how to descript and what to write for the review, that's how good it is.

Full of enjoyment, great plot, charming characters, beautiful storyline. You could tell that the author planned everything that happened from the get-go. (The well-planned story is really my thing.)

Let me warn you, If you want to truly enjoy this, don't read any spoilers or sneak peek at chapters ahead of what you are... more>> currently reading. Everything matters.

Well-deserve 5 stars. Highly recommended. <<less

I wish they went on a longer adventure. After reading a few chapters, I was hooked so I MLT it. The MC's name might be translated to literal meaning so it was hard to read it. I'm kinda confused about what happened near the end, but the story is fun to read. I miss seeing the dynamic between team 7 and want to read them complete more missions together. The side characters aren't dull and each has its own personality. The chemistry between MC and ML is spicy and the... more>> plot will make your brain think.

Don't worry about the h*mophobia because
Spoiler

they aren't homophobic! ML was traumatized by a dude who was chasing him. He was relentless and lowkey stalked the ML. That dude even m*sturbated in his office and ML got PTSD. That's why he was antagonistic of gay people. ML was an as*hole in the beginning, but after learning about the MC and working together, he fell in love. He doesn't have that gay panic and accepts it pretty fast. The BS that the MC and ML overcame together strengthened each other.

[collapse]

The ending is
Spoiler

HE. Everyone in the team survives. I didn't really understand the MLT, but the gist of the plot I got was MC's dad was killed by the MC's dad's future self because he wanted to escape the supercomputer. He left the MC and didn't care about the trauma he faced for 17 years. MC somehow dies and returns to the beginning of the story in the zombie world. Then they get back to the present world and have a happy life. They go through three missions. The first mission is with zombies, the second is chaos (bubble worlds), and the last was a Rubix cube. It involved paradox worlds and the plot gets trippy with double memories and trying to see what's real or fake. The plot is solid so you won't regret reading it.

[collapse]

I'll come back when it's completed translated to understand what happened. The author also likes describing the MC's "feminine" appearance and earth-shattering beauty and ML's masculine aura that is filled with testosterone. Ignoring those descriptions, the world-building and challenges they went through are the bread and butter of the story. <<less

boy do I love me some timeloop slop!!

jokes aside, mist is my favorite danmei because of its genuinely great plot and inventive use of time traveling pseudoscience. Every information and detail given to the reader felt important and foreshadowed later plot points too, making nothing feel redundant.
    • the plot:
as an IF (infinite flow), the core of the novel is the missions the main characters have to accomplish/solve in order to progress to the next one. While this genre can sometimes feel like it drags on, I really felt like every mission in mist was wonderfully written and developed, keeping the intrigue + suspense consistently strong throughout the novel.

although the pseudoscience/difficult puzzles may seem intimidating, they are not that hard to grasp as long as you don't read mindlessly. Rereading a paragraph or pausing to think about it usually did the trick for me. (Aside from that cube mission lol, I just gave up on that one and let MC carry me)

    • MC/ML:
I'm very happy that author wrote MC's hyperthymesia as an actual condition that can be debilitating too. Now I'm not saying that this is a 100% accurate depiction, but I'm just glad it wasn't treated as a superpower with no drawbacks.

it is MC's greatest asset but also greatest weakness. He can remember very useful information that will tremendously aid them on missions, but will also never forget the traumatic sights and events he has experienced. (There's more stuff but that's spoilers)

also yes MC and ML have a very healthy relationship. Their romance is SLOOWW slow burn because it's kinda like "general dislike>>reliable teammate>>id trust you with my life>>mutual interest but they both think the other isn't interested", but that just makes the moment they get together even more satisfying!! (The tension going on between them the whole time is crazyy tho)

  • extra:
the suspense in this novel is lowk insane, like omg the amount of times my heart rate picked up bc of the scary stressful situations they found themselevs in

the first mission was practically horror subgenre.

but damn there are so many funny interactions between all the characters, I love them all sm. In certain danmeis you can clearly tell the secondary characters were an afterthought, but not in here. They all compliment eachother so well, you learn to care for the whole 7th squad because they're not just fodder for MC/ML to overshadow them or wtv gary sue sh*t some other novels have going on.

Dare I say this is one of the most amazing novel I've read, the thought process is well laid out and it was easy to understand and follow so I don't understand why a recent review says the other way, but oh well, to each their own. Don't be discouraged of that reviewer saying this novel isn't worth recommending because all of us here can attest how good this novel is. The plot is so intricately done well and the points in the end connecting is so fascinating. You know... more>> the author really thought how to played out the novel from the beginning. The characters all feel alive and they were so entertaining to read, not one of them feel like they were for laughs and to fill a space, you can see they were there for a purpose. If I had to voice out a tiny bit complain is that we've never really known Song Qinglan's background apart from him coming from a good and wealthy family and a grandfather in Nincheng, although it wasn't much but I hope we get to see Song Qinglan's mother meeting Ji Yushi seeing as the author included that phone call from his mom, but sadly, that was the closest reveal to Song Qinglan's family that we will ever get in the story, although it was said that his parents are separated. But his personality is great and we know Captain Song so much so I ain't complaining.

Thank you for the translator who shared the novel with us and most especially, THANK YOU FOR THE AUTHOR who made this piece of gem. I hope to read more book with this kind of intricately woven plot with tension romance. It's been a while since I've read a good novel. <<less

If you're looking for a series that full of twists this is a really good series for you.

I really enjoyed the time manipulation in this series. Every chapter felt purposeful, there were hardly any breaks from the action. Every chapter felt thrilling to read, leaving me wanting more.

Easily an amazingly written sci-fi. The flow of the book is pretty much a classic unlimited flow, with the characters having to use their smarts to 'solve' instance after instance, but these instances are so well thought-out and compelling to read.

The logic and world-building of the world are very solid, and even though things seem complicated, the author still manages to convey everything very clearly. The characters feel very intelligent since you can also understand their thought processes, it's just that they got to the answer far, far before you... more>> did; their cleverness is very believable and makes them very likable.

As for the romance, it's very sweet, with the couple being the emotional core of the story. They're there for each other, support each other, and trust each other wholeheartedly, making them great partners. They work well together; a lot of the novel consists of them undergoing a two-person love triangle--hahaha you were the person I was in love with this whole time!

The confession scene was very fun and made me giddy, very rereadable. There's a section near the end where the love interest works very very hard to achieve a happy ending for the two of them--I'd nitpick and say that I wish they spent more time dating before this, but the couple does go through a lot together so the book builds up enough goodwill for the two to warrant that much devotion.

Overall, this book is very deserving of its high regard amongst unlimited flows, fascinating sci-fi that is still easily digestible with a sweet, kind romance! <<less

I'm surprised at how quickly I finished reading this. I really liked it, I got a few scares and I had fun reading it too. I really like how human Ji Yushi is, despite seeming distant, he's someone sensitive and full of overflowing emotions. I really liked his dynamic with Song Qinglan and the way the author managed to make their relationship go from hate (or disgust) to love. And even more so, how incredible it was to read the conflicts they had to go through throughout the novel, the... more>> author really planned every detail to make the conclusion of all that "conflict" even more shocking in the end.

This novel is complicated but the translator did an above and beyond job of explaining each concept in those chapters.

The author introduced many terms and events that were sometimes hard for me to follow, though they were interesting.

The story is not for those times when you just want to read something easy to pass the time. It takes some concentration and effort to keep the timelines and characters straight.

I did like it. And I did like the characters. But, at times, it felt like work! :) There is a nice... more>> sweetness between the MC and ML, which changes throughout with each new event. And, as the novel progresses, you see that random events were really not that random at all. It's both lovely and just a bit tedious. Maybe I didn't read it at the right time (when life gets busy).

Thanks to the author as well as the amazing translator, Veyrithele. <<less

Genius MC - Ji Yushi x Hoodlum ML Song Qinglan. This is an unlimited flow - time travel story, which lends itself to plot twists, foreshadowing, morality decisions, personal growth and redemption. However, it can get bogged down in the details and become repetitive. The cast of characters can provide comic relief, during the intense challenges the team faces. The romance develops slowly, naturally, allowing the reader to connect and feel their bond.

It was a really good novel.

An extremely smart and pretty MC x an handsome, strong and smart ML.

What changed here compared to some yaoi of the same type I read (Global Examination or Hui Tian for example) was that it did not insist that much on the MC or the ML charism / beauty or whatever (I mean yes but only towards each other) but more on their personnality and fears, which made them really human.

For example, both of them never had a relationship and seemed really lonely outside of... more>> the team, specially the MC who did not even had friends.

Also, the smartness of the MC is here described as burden, and a very comprehensive one in the Ourobos mission, and that was refreshing to see it that way instead of just commenting on the fact he's a genius.

Then, the two of them becoming a couple also brings significant change to them and everyone comment on the fact they both seem so much happier ! As a reader, it was truly heartwarming

Idk, maybe I was too used to see social / extrovert characters and seeing them felt different, more intimate.

The other characters were present too but not too much and idk, they were just a positive presence even if they could have gotten more developement. Liked them. Now or the bad points and why I did not put it amonst my all-favorites ones.

Honestly it's nothing too bad.

It's just that some scientific explanations were way too hard to understand and felt unecessary sometimes (like at the place where the bearded man was, finally they just had to remove the bright flowers so I did not see the need to have such complex discussions).

Okay, it does not seems dramatic but when it's a the point I did not even understand the main problems / solutions of every mission, it is very frustrating and I, everytime, instead of being amazed of their smartness, I was just like "gosh I don't understand, next mission"

That was notably the case
Spoiler

for the disapperance of the father, did not understand at all

[collapse]

Also, I reeeally liked the romance, but to me there was way too little romance times between the two of them (
Spoiler

even if there is just a little bit of smut just one time

[collapse]
).

Still, I really recommend it and I swear you won't be disappointed by it ! <<less

This gets a solid four stars from me.

OK, this is a novel you must pay attention to when reading. The author gets pretty in-depth into what they deem as time travel and what it consists of. It can sometimes become complicated or confusing because there’s so much twist to it that if you don’t understand something or miss a point within the plot, you’re pretty much thrown off, and you have to reread it. But I enjoyed it.

There was not much romance until the last half of the novel. There... more>> are a lot of AHA moments in this novel that will make you go, OooooOhh, that’s why! <<less

"They were each other's salvation."

I really have no words left for this, I think I agree to all the other reviewers. I really like this novel, it made kindle interest in the concept of time and tinkered with my brain screws to comprehend different theories. MC and ML's love building was worth to read, and I really love how they portrayed MC of having this illness that made him powerful to the eyes of others but a burden (kind of) to him. Just like what other reviewers had said, this... more>> novel was thoroughly planned out, it was well executed and will really make you reread to think it through.

This might not be anyone's cup of tea but please do try, it's short read, packed with action, theories, fluff as well as a sprinkle of spice.

And now unto my own comments hehe... :q

Spoiler

The execution of the Ouroboros cycle was my favorite out of all of them, that in order for them to get out of that cycle, they needed to create the cycle first. Which really would make you question, what came first then? Because when they were hijacked in the first round, team A also found the existence of of the black wall, but how did that black wall appeared if not for them creating it? I get chills everytime I dwell into it, the Ouroboros mission reminds me of Grandfather Paradox.

The mission I didn’t get the most was the Rubik’s Cube Mission, I cannot visualize the top-right, bottom-up... I also wanted to give props to Sheng Yun, he might not be the best dad, but he had always been by Adv Jis’ side, working in the shadows to pave way for his son and for the humanity, there was this quote from the novel Little Mushroom that I wanted to connect with Sheng Yun, “Human interests above all else. It isn’t kindness to one person but to the fate of humanity as a whole.” I find it scary that he could stomach knowing that the past is pre-determined, what was the basis as to why that is so? Knowing that the past and future are interlocked together like lovers, what becomes of the present? Maybe I am asking pointless questions because I couldn’t understand.

10/10 would recommend to anyone even if you dont like sci-fi, a good read is a good read after all.

  • the MC is "overpowered" but also very human
  • the ML is a green flag and love MC deeply
the author show us grief and love in an era where time and space are common knowlegde and easily manipulated. There are concepts and moments which the author didnt explain what happened but that's okay because they arent meant to be understood. We are reading jin yinshu's story and that's what we got, his story:... more>> the begging and the end.

the extras are short and sweet so we can see a little about the CP domestic life

overall, a short and nice read :))) <<less
