Hi, I’m the translator for this novel. Thus, this review might be biased.

The novel is about a sugar daddy relationship where the female and male leads realize they have developed deeper feelings for each other. It beautifully captures their character growth through the pain of hiding their true feelings to maintain their complicated relationship and their fatal attraction through the intensity of the smut.

The female lead is a timid wallflower. Yet, she has a magnetic draw to her and takes the initiative in unexpected moments. The male lead is seen... more>> as gentle and refined. He has many particulars that are hard to meet, but the female lead satisfies him in ways he’s never experienced before. Both characters are likable and well written with relatable details to them, such as the female lead’s overthinking, and the male lead’s sudden perverse reflections.

One of the most unique aspects of this novel is being able to read through the perspectives of the side characters.

There is the male lead’s secretary, who tries to humanize her boss, and believes that she is not like the other girls. From her, ‘why Jiang Tong (the female lead) ?’ is a lingering question explored throughout the novel.

Then there is the male lead’s nephew, who has a budding crush on the female lead. His place as a side character helps answer the ‘why Jiang Tong’ question through some parallels with the male lead and a past he dwells on that pushes forward the male lead’s future.

It’s a short novel, which I know people don't like. It’s a smut novel, which I also know people don’t like. However, it is written so well in a heart warming and heart fluttering way that you’ll want to read it again and again. If Gu Man or some of the best BG writers from jjwxc were to write a smut novel, then it would be just like this one.

Entertaining and mild level spicy smut. I'm a sucker for plots where they develop feelings for each other after having a strictly physical relationship.

This story had a "transactional relationship turned into true love" and "she fell first, he fell harder" plot. The sm*t was quite hot but the story wasn't all just about the sm*t and there's more to it. Still, nothing too complicated happened. Even 2nd ML didn't have much presence but he did contribute on making ML realized that he liked MC and wanted to be with her.

I enjoyed this novel. I usually don’t read romance, but I wanted a bit of smut and romance so here I am. The writing was smooth, with good conversational tone. The switches in perspective between characters worked well. The smut was hot as hell... when it wasn’t having reality intrude upon it. I have to say that although I haven’t experienced a relationship like this, it was believable. While the tropes of relatives liking the same person, age gaps, classmates, etc were all standard, the overall narrative flowed well. There’s... more>> nothing shocking, dramatic, or outlandish about this story and maybe that’s why it works. Two people who come together under extra ordinary circumstances, have misconceptions and miscommunication, work on their flaws, talk, and have a HE. What makes this story work is that we like the characters so that we can imagine ourselves in their places or imagine their HE if it was instead ourselves or our own lives. Anyway, well written, charismatic, with a wide range of emotional expression and experiences. Trying not to give details since they don’t really matter. It’s a nice, quick read I recommend. <<less

Between a 3 and a 4 for me imo. I've rarely seen a smut with less exciting s*x scenes before. All of them are just like they did this and that, she moaned, he grunted, show's over. Only later do we barely get a couple more details and even then it all feels very cold. Which at the beginning was representative of their relationship, which was supposed to be strictly transactional. It's hard to say, just feel like the whole story felt somewhat stiff and contrived. People never answer questions... more>> directly, author keeps vaguely mentioning clues, very few substantial conversations are had. An interesting work for sure. <<less
