I started reading this, not realizing it was a romance between 2 male leads. It's a short, sweet romance. One male lead is the great, handsome, wise Emperor of Da Shao. The other is the humble, sleepy, lazy, delicate Assistant Minister of Rites, Qing.

The Emperor has already fulfilled his duties by ruling a prosperous country and fathering his heirs. Throughout the story, there are flashbacks telling the story of the 6 year romance between the Emperor and Qing. The Emperor... more>>

is in love, but Qing is unambitious and doesn't want any trouble so the Emperor has to chase him. Finally, the Emperor sends Qing away to figure out what he really wants in his time away from the Emperor. It's a happy ending.

One of the most satisfying aspects of this story is the lack of conflict.

The Emperor's parents are alive and well and his dad retired from the throne. The Emperor's brothers all get along with him - one of his brothers is also deeply in love with his Chief Eunuch. A neighbouring King wants one of the Emperor's brothers to be his male Queen. I guess in an Yaoi story, there are several similar romances? The Emperor's wives all live together harmoniously and raise their children safely.

If you like short, sweet Yaoi stories, this one is good. There are some smutty scenes, if that matters. This Yaoi genre is not my cup of tea, but it was a cute story. <<less

socuuuuuuuuute!!!

cutecutecutecutecute... so cute!

... more>> it's lovely, really. the writing style, the story, the feelings and all. it's like reading a fluffy happy shounen ai, but with a bit of actual smut. and laughs are waranteed. and I really like this emperor! <3

there's 2 storylines, and they are beautifully interconected. The only downside is that the author has the habit of actually speaking to the readers. I think this decreases the literary value of the otherwise perfect writing. i'd rate this 4/5 because of this but... since someone rated this with a "1", which is not posible unless you are a yaoi hater, then i've made my vote 5/5. to balance things out a bit... yeah xD

firstly the story move from the present time to the past time for every chapter. But they all connected beautifully like some scene from the present is connected or made them remember something from the past. The translator put effort to give meaning for all the idiom encountered in the story, not just translate them at the face value. The ending ... more>>

make me shed tears a little bit, I know it's a happy ending, but they portrayed it until both MC die of old age.. Not like others BL I've read whereas the epilogue section made you felt warm and fluffy, this one though the main story is light and fluffy but the epilogue..

Although the story went from present to past and back again, it flowed beautifully. It was a simple story that was easy to follow and left me with a refreshed heart like a light spring breeze. I admired how the title of the piece expressed the theme and was woven into the story. I liked that there wasn't much drama and angst, but that the characters seriously took the time to consider their feelings. When they came to terms with their feelings, it felt very natural. The parallel of the... more>> relationships between the seventh prince and the eunuch and the emperor and his beloved added depth to the story. The support cast all had unique personalities and were very playful. The author's interjections were also very fun. The dirty bits weren't overwhelming and were in just the right place. I have re-read this novel many times. It is one of my favourite. It is rare to read a story about a couple who have been together for many years and it's a joy to witness their unwavering love and devotion for each other. It is also rare to read about an emperor who is not some psycho sadistic bastard lol. His lover Qing is one of the most adorable characters ever, whose only defining characteristic is his laziness, and this laziness is often the source of much comic relief.

I chose this specifically due to the fact that it was short and I just wanted to read a novel to start up my day, I also promised myself that after this one I'll finally do my work but I ended up reading this the whole day??? Its only around 11 chapters but it took me that long to read it for some reason... Huh. Even I'm confused. But anyways back to the main point of this review,

The story was wholesome and satisfying. No r*pe, no intense angst, just... more>> a relaxing read. (It was so relaxing that a whole day passed by and even then, I, haven't finished it yet) It took me a few minutes to get used to the constant switches between the backstories and flashbacks and the present storyline, but overall it was a good read. The ending, especially, was satisfying. Because of chapter 9, for some reason I suddenly had the urge to search about the most favored 'male companions' and I ended up reading a few articles and a whole Wikipedia page about Emperor Ai and Dong Xian, and Ancient Chinese homosexuality in general which might've contributed to the reason why it took me so long to finish this lol

Needless to say their relationship is pretty cute, our Sleepy Assistant Minister of Rites shou and our Emperor gong's dynamic just clicks. Li Cong Qing who doesn't have a care in the world, who sleeps no matter the time and place, and the doting black-bellied Song Yu who tolerates everything and anything. Oh to be pampered that way, we all need a Song Yu in our lives indeed... ㅠㅠ

It made me feel reassured when they said that Song Yu (the Emperor) and Li Cong Qing (the Ass. Minister) died loving each other the whole time, and that their love (hopefully) continued even in the afterlife. Fyi the reason for this unexplainable anxiety is none other than A Decade of Deep Love.. every since I read it reading BL was never the same..

I read this a long time a ago, but forgot to write a review.

This story is more realistic and beautiful. The emperor have his duties, but he have only one lover in his heart. For him, he is willing to face any upheavals. The MC of this story, Emperor's lover, is a sloth spirit typically. Always likes to sleep and a person who don't want to be disturbed. Due to this, he just passively accepted Emperor's love in the past without discovering his own feelings.

Their road from passive love to... more>> active on both sides is the story as well as how they met in the past. Such a beautiful story.

The ending made me cry, epilogue on what happens afterwards. <<less

This is a slow quiet story that explores the different power dynamics that emerge in the relationship between an Emperor and one of his Ministers.

The characterizations are consistent and as in life, their personalties lead to all the meaningful issues in their relationship.

I could never decide if I want to mu*der the older brother or laugh at his profiteering evilness.

The setting showcases a stable empire with several generations of a peaceful exchange of power. Its quite refreshing after most historicals where everyone fights for the throne at the expense of each other and the country.

Ultimately, its really nice to read a romance between an established couple as they look back at how they began in order to understand where they want their relationship to head moving forward.

I reread it and still so FUNNY

it's been a long time for me to laugh so f -hard (more than once)

The story was pure.... make your heart warm....

Finally there is a emperor that is kind and sweet !!!!

Everything is perfect.......

The ending make you feel....

"DAMN.......I want that kind of love......"

JUST READ IT.....

This historical romcom is like a cup of warm, mellow tea~

The MC is the embodiment of absolute laziness and the ML does his best to indulge him in it. A very lighthearted and fluffy story without the typical drama/revenge/face-slapping.

Oh wow, this novel just made me want to dive in a cloud of love and roll around while giggling crazily😩😩. It was just full of warmth in every chapter that I was blown away.

The relationship btw the MC and ML is one for the history books. I love how lazy the MC was lol, my soulmate😂 and the ML has to be one of the best written characters I've read. I usually go for toxic ml's😏 but this ML has stolen my heart. One can only wish to have... more>> the love shared between these two characters in real life but alas.

Aweeeee so sweeeeeet!!! ٩ (*❛⊰❛) ～❤ It's very romantic and no complicated plot, no dog blood drama, this story is lighthearted and just pure happiness. 🌸🌸🌸 The MC is my spirit animal, lmao!!! I love naps and to live as simple as I can, away from dramas and troubles.

The ML, oh yeah!!!! I like him so much, he's very doting and understanding to our MC. He's "the Son of Heaven" and can do what he pleases, but he respects the decision and thoughts of our MC.

When I started reading this novel, I got a little bored in chapter 1 and 2, maybe because I wasn't used to the frequent transition between past and present, but soon I got accustomed to it.

It has its funny parts, I laughed really hard in chapter 3 when MC was babbling nonsense. Chapter 5 was also comical, MC's family is really unique and peculiar. But can really all the siblings be so beautiful? Did Heaven blessed this family?

The plot is pretty simple, but the ending is kinda surprising, but also... more>> a little expected. Since the MC is really lazy and likes to keep his life simple without worries. The Emperor is indulgent and never forces his wishes.

Despiste the plot being simple and short, I really enjoyed it. I like to imagine that the couple indeed carried their predestined love forever, even afterlife.

10/10. Really looking forward to read the remaining of the extras! <<less

This novel is simply too cute! A not domineering Emperor but rather simply a loving and doting one, not at all restricting his lover's freedom? Simply one of a kind!

MC is lazy, but he has his principles. There is no dull moment while reading this. In fact, I was smiling the whole time as if my face was paralyzed!

The chapters are just enough, had it been a little longer, it would've lost its essence, had it been a little shorter, one couldn't help but feel unsatisfied. Author fitted in every... more>> single detail in just 10 short chapters, it is very good. Finished it in one sitting. Definitely wouldn't hurt to try it. <<less

This story will leave a sour feeling in your chest once you've finished reading, BECAUSE IT'S JUST THAT GOOD

Of course the fluff and *ahem ahem* between the ML and MC is super cute but what REALLY gets it going is the storytelling.

No, MC doesn't have devastating beauty nor does he have unparalleled wit. But he has this languid charm from being extremely relaxed and going with the flow. One word, relatable.

ML super dotes on his cute partner and only has eyes for him, giving him whatever he wants. He's not... more>> cold and unfeeling, at some points he is rather amiable. Although he starts of as imposing he actually thinks alot about MC and is very afraid to cause him distress, very refreshing to see such an ML being at the 'losing' end of the relationship

of course he realises that he cannot spoil MC too much thus adopted a 'pull back' method to let MC falls into his arms himself

But WAIT!! The transitions between the past and present is as smooth as a baby's butt. Unless you skimmed through quickly, there is no way you can be lost.

The flashbacks are inserted tastefully and it's not filler, literally if you cut out any part of the story it would feel incomplete.

This story looks short but each chapter is actually longer than others, but still shorter than the 100 over chapters stories.

PLEASE take some time to read this beautiful masterpiece clench your heart in a mixture of cuteness and sweetness.
