“A Fox Cultivation Partner? – On the Path to Immortality”

Deep in the mist-wrapped peaks of Spirit Mountain, the aloof cultivator Yun Zhao found a wounded silver fox.

Its eyes gleamed like moonlight, its fur was white as snow, and it always nuzzled against his fingertips.

Yun Zhao’s heart softened, and he took it back to his cave.

But he soon realized—

This little fox stole his spirit fruits at midnight, burrowed into his lap during meditation, and after transforming… it turned out to be a smiling, enchanting youth?

“Since the Immortal Lord saved me… why not take me as your cultivation partner?” The fox boy’s tail swayed lightly, his tone sweet yet sly.

—After a thousand years of ascetic cultivation, even the icy master never imagined his heart would be stolen by a little fox.

So this short story does feel like the author is compiling their thoughts for a more comprehensive novel, and this is just a teaser.

I'm not going to rate it because the story itself made no sense. However, the translator took the time to provide this; for free I might add. It is appreciated.

How off-putting that 2 days after a translator releases their work, a review with nothing but snark is unleashed. Would love to provide my own tip to Karen, but that would get this review banned.

Story read like a summary of a super melodramatic dogblood novel.

There was no build up, no connection with the characters, just endless "you sacrificed x for me, but actually I sacrificed y for you, but actually that's what we thought but you actually sacrificed z for me" x 100.

The plot twist after plot twist, amnesia after amnesia, and random new places/characters introduced every other paragraph or sentence that never show up again.

... more>> Keep in mind this story is 4 (?) chapters long lol

Translation prose was super purple with tons of italicized words, which made it more difficult to read. There was way too much italic emphasis on random words and phrases that did not make the story better but rather felt over-the-top and reminded me of the naive exaggerated fantasy stories with way too Proper Nouns and Magick and italics I wrote in middle school. Thank god I got over that phase.

Here's a tip - if everything is emphasized, nothing is emphasized. <<less
