Yu Hua loses his job, and the weight of the household falls on the shoulders of his partner, You Zhengping.

His husband is a temporary employee at the subdistrict office, with a monthly salary of only 2500; this troubles Yu Hua exceedingly.

You Zhengping is secretly engaged in the work of protecting the world from Destroyers, with a rather liberal subsidy.

You Zhengping spends all day fretting: how can he tell Yu Hua that he has a few million in private savings without giving anything away?

Right up until the day that You Zhengping receives a notice that a power great enough to destroy the world has appeared in his home.

Worried that something will happen to Yu Hua, an ordinary person, You Zhengping hurries home with his team. Once through the door, he sees a peaceful home, Yu Hua wearing an apron, a lifted frying pan in his hand, and a fish, golden on both sides and its aroma wafting around, frying in the pan.

Seeing You Zhengping, Yu Hua puts the frying pan on the switched-off electric stove and wipes his hands on his apron. “I wanted to save on the electricity bill.”

You Zhengping: …

The entire world’s most awesome Destroyer is his husband.

No typos, writing errors. It's well translated...

As for the novel substance itself... Not that interesting, or entertaining. I don't want to say boring coz that would underlook the writer's effort.

I don't understand how the ML is like "I saved some money but I have to lie to give it to my partner" Just give it to him bro!! When did your partner ever say he hates saving?

Something is just off about the plot for me. Just can't enjoy it.

After marriage, can you fall in love all over again and again to your partner? In this story, the answer is yes, absolutely. This melancholy husbands will stuff your face with full of dog food, support between couples, cool things that I can't explain but it's definitely exciting.

I love the plot and all the characters who has many sides <3 This couple kind of remind me of Soyou or YuYou if you call it :3 (is it a coincidence that the main couple surnames kind of remind me of someone?)

and even though they're definitely equal and there's no indication about who is more weak and inferior, like ffs the gong is referred as the 'wife' (and they definitely could be switchable couple), the who's gong and who shou is my cup of tea :3 definitely enjoyable. Oh and also mutual support and learning about not so good thing about ur partner, and still accept and support him, and understand him <3 this couple, successfully made me found a new favorite OTP! <<less

I came in expecting some light hearted straight forward novel, I walked out with my world views shifted and my eyes still shaking

I love this novel, although the hidden identity stuff spanned on for far too long and some of the exposition is way too convoluted sometimes. I enjoyed it immensely; the plot is substantial, the side characters story lines and developments weren't neglected. The logic and pieces of stability as well as the slightly slow but heavy momentum of the pacing are all very good.

There's definitely some frustrating parts... more>> like how grindy it feels to read, when it could've been explained in a few less paragraphs. But overall, I quite like how meticulous the author is with the story.

Anyways, come in expecting the unexpected. A good time! There's so many side CPs I wish would've happened, but alas no official side cps here <<less

I gotta give it up to the author. They wrote an amazing novel. It was a breath of fresh air after reading back-to-back horrible novels. The world building was fantastic and not expected. Usually, authors don’t take the time to explain, in depth, why things are happening or what something means. But this author did that. They explained why, who, what, where, when and how. Everything was connected, somehow, perfectly.

Spoiler

World law, how protectors came to be, system, levelers/destroyers, special abilities, etc. The author did not leave anything unanswered.

[collapse]

This novel flipped the switch on us. You would naturally assume that the MC is the shou and the ML is the gong but uh uh. The MC, Yu Hua, is the gong. The ML, You Zhengping, is the shou. They are so good together. Yu Hua has OCD and is a perfectionist. He always had a plan and his plans always have plans, plans within plans is his name. He just wanted to live an ordinary life after becoming the first clearer in a system run world. All You Zhengping wants to do is love Yu Hua, eat the food Yu Hua makes and do back exercises with Yu Hua in no particular order.

What I really loved and found fascinating about this novel is the fact that there are no plot holes, at all. Everything gets resolved in a way that leaves no space for holes. The cannon fodders became essential, in a way, to the plot and get become allies. Also, the character development was good. The main characters evolve and change gradually/naturally as the novel progresses.

I also love Yu Hua as an evil boss. In front of his husband, he is so nice, attentive, sweet, and gentle. But with his employees he is a total overbearing boss. There are reasons why he is like that towards them to be honest.

Spoiler

The destroyers/levelers that Yu Hua saves from the system become his employees. Plot twist: he’s actually a good boss. He helps them adapt to society, gives them jobs, and gives them somewhere to live.

[collapse]

I do not usually like system novels because I feel that they drag on and are never ending. But this one is good and I am super happy I didn’t have to read about all of the 3, 000+ worlds that Yu Hua visited. I’d probably have stopped reading after world 5. This novel kept me entertained and I can proudly say that I didn’t skip a chapter. I read every chapter and word of this novel. <<less

I guess this is okay. Honestly it's not bad, but not really good either. It's the kind of story I'll prob forget about the next day. It feels quite a bit bland. I'll give it a 3.5/5

My biggest issue is that I'm not super sure what type of story it is. There's this whole thing with ability users and MC being powerful and all, but the whole story ended up feeling very anticlimactic for me. There's fledglings of world building in this, which are interesting enough but never fully expanded... more>> to its full potential. It's only at those times you realize that, yeah, this was probably supposed to be a romance novel. You can tell by how much action scenes and fights kinda sucks lol. I'm really not sold on the scale of the fights, because it's supposed to be the world fighting outside invaders but we only get to see a very extremely narrow perspective. Things also happened a bit too smoothly imo. At the beginning I had felt the other characters were smarter than what they were at the end. They made some solid reasonings but that kinda stopped at the later half due to how things went a bit too smoothly. You have an OP character and still write good emotional/intellectual drama, but that obviously didn't happen here. Which is fine, I guess, since this is a comedy. But I still lament the missed potential.

Main couple is alright. They do have nice chemistry. Though idk how much I like the romance part of the story. Granted I'll admit I don't read or am interested in much romances a it generally isn't my thing; I just wanted a story where MC kicks ass. But even so, overall I guess, based on the background setting of the story and the MC's past, I expected something more emotionally stimulating? But it's been kinda bland too. For all the burden the emotional MC was supposed to have, I didn't feel particularly touched. I guess it really does feel like they're an old married couple or something so nothing too new or stimulating is going on, imo. I guess it's a little more comedy than anything else. Comedy is kinda okay, nothing too special on that either.

In the end, I guess my opinion is just that it's an okay read if you have extra time to spare. It's not awful. It's self-contained enough.

That said, yes the translator is amazing, this is one of the smoother translations I've seen around. <<less

Really good! Less of a plot based on romance and more inclined towards comedy and action. Very impressed with the author's abilities to keep up with all the interweaving plots and schemes. I also love how the characters are established; despite the MC's OPness (and especially Yu Hua with his multitalented skillset), they have very realistic worries and struggles. Translation is also excellent (and with VERY good release times too).

Ok im not super satisfied with my review above however idk how to describe this but yk with Cyan Wing's other... more>> books too its like really comedic and fun BUT at the same time there are real life lessons within the chaos and you just kinda leave it feeling like you've gained some sort of insight in how to live???

omg I can’t go on this is too hilarious, forget about the characters operating on different brainwaves, their brainwaves are in entirely different dimensions. They’re so so smart but so so dumb yet everything works cuz everyone’s too busy trying to trick the other person that they don’t notice themselves being tricked.

Based on the first 25 chapters, I would rate this novel a 5. If I stopped at chapter 40, this novel would be a 4 in my mind. Since I finished the novel, it became a 3 in my mind. But since most people don't finish this novel, I'll keep my rating at a 4. The premise of the story is very interesting. It's about an established couple that are deeply in love with each other. However, one of the couples is a "Protector", one of the elite superpowered humans... more>> who are in charge of defending the planet from invaders. The other one is a so-called "Destroyer" or alien who is not native to this world. Both are hiding their identities from each other.

The first few chapters is laugh out loud funny as there are a lot of situational comedy moments mixed with a bunch of fluff. The color cast of characters in addition to the main couple are fun. It's not a novel that takes itself very seriously. However, it soon becomes stale as the same jokes and tropes are recycled again and again. The author must have realized that the story was getting stale and started adding ridiculous plot devices to raise the stakes. However, it loses the soul of what made it good - the humor.

You might wonder why readers should stop at ch25? It's because it went from a humorous jab at the transmigration genre into an actual transmigration drama. The MC (Xiao You) becomes more and more OP. The ML (Yu Hua) starts out OP and becomes more OP. It becomes to a degree that is ridiculous in a way that's no longer funny. The ML himself is pretty morally gray and often does things that the author tries to "justify", but I can't help but think are cruel.

By the end, the fluff and the lighthearted slice of life scenes no longer interested me. The characters grew in a direction that was off-putting. The antics never changed, except it was now had a subpar transmigration plot line. Oh, and mix in time travel in there, because why not.

Overall, I would recommend reading it until chapter 30 or so. I made the mistake of finishing it, since I was already most of the way through it. I regret that decision to this day. <<less

I love a good OP MC. This is one of the best. The relationship between You Zhengping and Yu Hua is so wholesome and pure and ahdkfjhafkdjha. It's also got its fair share of laughs. Just a good solid novel. Like one of the other reviewers said, I also love drama, but sometimes you just want to read a good story. This is that.

Here I am at 9:10 pm with my phone at 21% and my emotions spiraling out of control. Wow, what a novel to end my 2023 year on, it truly blew me out of the water.

So, where do I even start? First, I suggest to read- or at least have some knowledge of quick transmigration/world-hopping novels before reading this, it's not mandatory to understand it- but it definitely helps highlight the author's beautiful world-building. Truly, it was masterful.

Second, if you like Shonen manga, then this might be just the novel... more>> for you. Whether it be fine scenes, premise, characters, team work, it all reminded me of reading a manga. Especially if you like the manga Sakamoto Days which has a slightly (but also not at all) similar premise.

But what is it about? Yu Hua, our main character, just wants to live a peaceful life. He works a normal job, just bought a car, has a husband, and is overall pretty average (not his looks though). Oh, but he just lost his job, ah- and now he's avoiding his husband? How can this be! Well, Yu Hua isn't very ordinary at all, in fact he's quite OP! And now his OP powers have suddenly been unsealed??? How is he ever going to hide this from his husband and get back to his normal life? Ah, but wait, his husband actually also isn't ordinary at all! He also has supernatural powers! And now they're having to save the world while trying to maintain they're ordinary life together.

Don't let the seme protagonist tag scare you off- it's multi pov. And don't let the already established relationship throw you off either! They have plenty of couple growth and tension despite already being married. Fair warning, you will overdose on dog food though. Their every interaction is laced with enough sugar to put a person into a coma for months! Seriously, these two are so insanely in love it's, well, it's insane! They're made for each other.
Spoiler

even the world law agrees. I can't get over certain things about them... ah, rainbows, how Ill never look at you the same. Also, Yu Hua holding You Zhengping and going "ah, so this is where my humanity went" is everything to me. God they're so sickening, I hate them (affectionate)

[collapse]

Now, let me get to my favorite part of the novel: Teamwork. Yu Hua's OPness is cool and all and I love when he joins the fight, but You Zhengping and the rest of the Protectors fighting together are really where it's at! I especially loved You Zhengping's and Lian Yufan's rivalry but also they're trust in each other. Not to mention Cen Xiao and the others.

Speaking of teamwork, the characters are really where this story shines. I loved every single one of them to bits, maybe even Director Ha. Let's go through a few of them first:

Yu Hua: Though there were some things about him that I couldn't agree with, like his tyranny, it was all a part of his character and he's extremely well-written. My guy's been through a lot, he's been betrayed, beaten down, worshipped, put on a pedal stool, but all he's ever wanted was to be a normal person. I can't help but admire him a little.
Spoiler

I always disliked it when the MC would lose their power in the end, but for this novel, this is truly the best ending- especially for Yu Hua- after all, that's all he's ever wanted.

[collapse]

You Zhengping: Maybe my favorite character in the novel, and definitely one of my favorite MLs too! His greediness, his protection, his silliness. He really is such a guy. I can see why Yu Hua fell for him, how can you not? Even I would want to cook his meals and wash his clothes! Seriously, if I admire Yu Hua a little then I worship You Zhengping a lot. I tend to go for more edgier and dark characters (who secretly care a lot) but a character like You Zhengping will always blindside me with their shining sun once in a while and I will hold them gently (or throttle them affectionately) in my hands.

Cen Xiao: The forever 3rd wheel, the bearer of Yu Hua's jealousy. I really did like him, he was so a good genuine dude.

Zhen Li: bro's the luckiest character in the novel but he also went through a lot to the point where I want to go "buddy, you just might deserve better." But he has pretty privilege so there's only so much I can say.

Lian Yufan: Might be my second favorite character in the novel. I loved his backstory and convictions, the way he acted and why he did things made sense. He's also a bit silly so how can I not like him? Plus, bonus points for that fake teardrop mole

Yuan Luori: He was hilarious, from beginning to end arrogant yet cowardly.

Huan Zixu: what can I say, he's a long haired scheming beauty? How can I not like him!

Feng Kui: [sighs] He and Huan Zixu's relationship was beautiful, I even kinda wished we saw more of it. Feng Kui...I have no words but that he is truly sweet

There's a few other characters but I think it's best to stop the brainrot there. This novel blew my expectations out of the water and now it's one of my favorites, I highly recommend it. If you like comedy, slice-of-life, action, teamwork, wonderful world-building, and wonderful characters, then I highly recommend this. After this, I definitely need to check out more of Cyan Wings' novels. My phone's at 15% now, happy reading! <<less

This is a beautiful romance story disguised as the most hilarious office comedy. The sheer number of layers to this story is amazing, you can just tell how much work the author put into planning out the plot, there truly were no plot holes left unfilled. The climactic scenes were stunning and the way that the author allowed our ML to truly understand and support MC was everything I needed.

Yu Hua (MC) is technically thousands of years older than You Zhengping (ML) but you will literally never feel a power... more>> imbalance between them. MC truly loves ML with his entire heart, and will respect and cherish him so much that you will truly feel that ML is his savior and the light of his life. This love is also returned ten-fold back from ML to MC, and the two of them are so absolutely smitten with each other that it's actually hilarious. They cry for each other, share happiness with each other, and live their lives for and with each other. Truly the most beautiful relationship.

ML is crazy powerful in his own right, and through the story his powers refine even more to bridge the gap between the world and MC, who has basically turned into a god. He brings out the humanity in MC, something that is hinted at throughout the story but truly becomes a reality by the end. The relationship ML has with his friends as well is so wholesome while also being hilarious, the platonic relationships really do shine in this story as well.

The pacing of the identity reveals was actually perfect, and I never felt bored or like the plot was dragging. The interactions between characters were golden, and I found myself attached to every side character's plot as well. No side romances made official but there's plenty of room to ship characters together haha! This is one of those stories that I truly could not put down, it was just so good.

Sooooo many absolutely hilarious moments in this, including

Spoiler

- THE PANTS

- MC trying to confess his identity to ML in increasingly obvious ways, culminating in ML accidentally disintegrating the cloak and mask

- Literally every time that the office drama was going on, it was like a sitcom

- ML and MC's first blind date in which they both fell in love at first sight, literally everything about the lead up to this killed me from the rainbow hair to the flip flops

- MC turning a destroyer into a husky and making him a director???

- All the destroyers getting tamed by MC regardless of whether they knew his true identity or not, and having to build ships for content with other "employees"

- MC running the most exploitative business operation ever lmaoooo like how is this even a corporation

- ML and MC going on a date "with just the two of them" and ending up getting tailed by all of ML's suspicious coworkers and MC's two useless employees

- MC's jealousy over ML's bestie relationship getting exacerbated by the PANTS

- MC watching endless dramas about wives taking revenge on cheating husbands

- The "romantic" movie ML picked out being Gone Girl

[collapse]

Also all the moments where MC and ML were trying to hide their true identities from each other had me dying, they both were trying so hard to hide the evidence at the same time that they didn't realize how suspicious the other person was being hahaha

Only qualm I have with this novel is the extras, they felt pretty unnecessarily fatphobic and image obsessed. Not a fan. <<less

First, I'd like to say kudos to the translator for a fantastic translation, and even, to my delight, a download link so I could read this on my kindle. I think your site is one of my favorites - everything is so clearly stated, it has a nice layout, and your translations really suit my tastes.

I'm rating this story a five because if I only looked at enjoyment that's close to what I'd give it, (Probably a 4.7?) this story really checks a lot of boxes in my "what... more>> I enjoy" list. If you don't like a calm, established romance, slice of life stories, sometimes absurd comedy, or system / transmigrator tropes that are turned upside-down, you might not find this to your liking.

The author is clearly a fantastic writer, not only when you look at all the fantastic story elements but when you look at the actual writing. Great prose, dialogue, tension, and all the wonderful little details the author includes come together with absurd humor and a few poignant scenes to make this an incredibly enjoyable read.

The world building and plot was novel, well established, and incredibly interesting; I'd really wish we'd seen more of the world than a single district in China, but what I did see was amazing.

There was a large group of interesting and unique characters, but I'd really like to have seen women. Like, any women. The whole cast of characters was just men. And it's not like they don't exist in that world, seeing how there are female fans, store clerks, ect. There were also some potential relationships being hinted at that I wish had gone somewhere. Another thing that disappointed me a bit was the (very minor) focus on weight, but it does make sense with Yu Hua's perfectionist character and the way he's set up.

The relationship development was nice and really enjoyable to read about, because they were just so sweet together. You can so clearly see what made them fall in love with each other. With all their trust and knowledge of each other, they're so clearly a married couple. Also like how even though they know so much about each other their understanding of each other isn't perfect, they have to work for it, and how they continue to find out new things and surprise each other.

Spoiler

I was a bit annoyed at the beginning to not see You Zhengping doing chores, but it was so interesting to go along and see that actually be a part / a sign of the Yu Hua's control issues. I'm also a bit like that; I'd rather do something myself then have someone who I know won't do it to my liking take care of it. Things being out of what I think is their place bothers me, but I wouldn't make someone go out of what they'd usually do to conform to my standards.

The characters really overturned my first impressions of them, in big ways but sometimes so subtly that I didn't notice for a while. Also happened for the side characters; Cen Xiao, encouraging You Zhengping to treat Yu Hua well. Zhen Li, giving wise advice. (Also can I just say I love Yu Zhengping being quite smart and capable? I love him so much).

[collapse]

I'll say that I'd have liked to see stronger character development, but I don't know what exactly is leaving me unsatisfied there because they definitely did develop and mature as people.

I would also have liked more development in the epilogue, but it did leave me satisfied.

All in all, this was really such a charming story that occupied such a unique niche that I didn't know needed filling, and I'm so glad I read it. <<less

One of my favorite couple in BL novel

Sometimes author will dictate his character to be top or bottom. But this couple is not. It's just a position. It doesn't metter

And even if You Zingping prefer being a bottom because he is too lazy to be top, but MC doesn't really care if he is bottom or top

And the plot is amazing

It's the 2nd time I read this, and I still feel that it's a well written plot

This has like one of the well plotted novel. It’s not exactly scattered, the pace is even and comfortable, the well-kept light atmosphere of the story is quite good despite the actual dark themes if they delved into certain points. I love this novel. It’s quite a refreshing read.

It’s really rare to find novels like this. Definitely recommend!!

The story setting is unique. Both main characters and every other side character are beautifully portrayed. Especially Yu hua, from a twenty years old graduate youth with sunny personality to a cold and ruthless unfeeling man who seal his humanity. And how Xiao You unconditionally trust his beloved and heal his wound. And this one word " you save the world, I'll protect you". Their character development is so beautiful, is make me cry. And other side characters, how they struggle to survive, how they try to adapt their new... more>> lives, how they try to protect their beliefs, try to understand each other and changed from foe to friends. So beautiful yet painful. They say 'it's ok if you don't understand each other and what they're thinking as long as their goal is the same'. There is not only one path to reach the goal. Some comedy parts are so funny. And the natural law, world law and time-space theory made my mind blow up. Well, with this story I have my fav new characters again. <<less

If you like the movie, Mr/Mrs Smith, this is the book for you!

I love tropes like this, established relationship (husband pair) but hiding each other's secret identities. When they both find out about each other, the internal struggle (very cute), loyalty to organization clashing with loyalty to partner, and the trust they built up over the years were all challenged.

Ultimately, this is a fluffy and humorous story, but very epic and ambitious in its undertaking. The overarching plot spans space-time portals, molecular physics, thousands of worlds, and the destruction of... more>> the universe as we know it.

The plot was extremely engaging and a wonderful way to explain a premise often left completely unexplored in other novels (quick transmigration, infinite flow, etc.).

In this story, we get to see the other side: What happens when players take a world to be generated NPCs? What happens when that world is full of real people who learn how to fight back?

Spoiler

I understand the ethical dilemma about the Director Ha (husky), but I think it was resolved satisfactorily. First, keep in mind that he had completed 192 worlds. Every leveler introduced around that clearance level all knew or had an idea that the worlds they were clearing were not just pure "NPC/game worlds."

Second, just because you were not aware of a law that was broken does not absolve you of the consequences of breaking that law. If you've threatened the police, tried to blow up a mall and kill everyone inside, kidnapped multiple children and planted bombs on them; those are real actions taken on the premise of "misinformation."

If you consider the other Destroyers who had completed just as many levels -- Huan Zixu, for example, was extremely scheming and also wanted to insure his own safety BUT he didn't kidnap children and threaten the safety of thousands of people, which he COULD have done with his mental ability.

This comparison shows a fundamental difference between essentially a psychopath terrorist (192) and a morally ambiguous yet selfish person who just wanted to survive the System (Huan Zixu).

According to the considerations of the Protector agency, 192 would have straight up been eliminated/killed for everything he had already done, husky or not.

True, in dog form he had no choice about the merging of his personality with the dog and that could be an ethical dilemma as convicts also have some human rights (which ones is another question). It would have been best if 192 had been given a choice: stay as a husky and be assimilated or return to a human body to be killed, but that would have been out-of-character for the ruthless Yu Hua who wanted him to "live" with the consequences.

What I like about this novel is how morally ambiguous Yu Hua really is. A far cry from your typical "I'm basically a perfect person who rejects power and can do no wrong" main character.

An interesting fact is that later, the "merging with the husky's personality" was what saved 192 from future punishment. The agency was willing to give him a pass due to cultural beliefs of rebirth and karma. One of the key points of rebirth is starting anew by forgetting the past. Thus, the husky form was considered the "reborn him" who was no longer a psychopath hungering for power, which can only be thanked by the dog's simple personality.

Simply just love it. The main couples are so lovey dovey and our shou is way too adorable while our gong is everyone's dream husband. Super fluffy and no angst.

Spoiler

pitty the gong for having to redo his 3000 years level the second time
