This novel has Gong 1, Gong 2, Gong 3… and the list goes on, each of them seemingly infected with madness, falling deeply and uncontrollably in love with the protagonist shou.
Constantly showing concern, forcing possession, secretly stalking… Every flavor of obsession is covered.
Yet, Ye Jishu isn’t even one of these cannon-fodder gongs. He’s just a spicy little plot device thrown into the tangled web of messy love triangles and polyamorous relationships.
His entire existence serves one purpose: for the protagonist shou to coldly say, while facing all the gongs vying for him, “He’s my boyfriend.”
Such an enticing and manipulative statement, spicing things up just a little more.
For Ye Jishu, this was a doorway to a whole new world.
According to the original plot, his role was:
When Gong 1 shows up, he conveniently goes to get water, leaving the two some private space;
When Gong 2 arrives, he pretends to look for something, giving them time to exchange glances;
When Gong 3 comes, he closes his eyes and pretends to sleep, giving them a chance for some dramatic tension…
He thought this was all he had to do.
But one late night, unexpectedly, the protagonist shou suddenly pins him down on the bed, snuggling against his neck, voice low and heavy:
“Jishu, why don’t you care about the people getting close to me? It’s obvious they all have ulterior motives, yet you don’t get jealous at all—”
“Heh, of course, I don’t really care what you think either. After all, humans are just food, and you’re nothing more than a tool I’m using…”
“…Hmm? Why aren’t you saying anything? Are you planning to ignore me again, leave me alone, and focus on someone else? Ridiculous. As if I’d actually care. This is getting old.”
“……………”
“Uh-oh, how troublesome, what a mess. What should I do? I don’t want this, but now that things have reached this point, you’ll just have to always keep your eyes on me from now on. Otherwise, I might end up eating you too. What do you think about that, Jishu?”
His tone was coaxing, his face dazzlingly beautiful.
His ink-black eyes were filled with dark, insane possessiveness.
Seeing the tent**les sprouting from the protagonist shou’s body, and the black mist swirling around him, Ye Jishu’s heart raced at five hundred miles per hour, jumping to full throttle, his eyelids twitching furiously.
What is this? So scary, so terrifying, ahhhh!
#I thought I was just background scenery, but it turns out I’m a pure love warrior!#
Warnings:
1. Non-human elements involved.
2. The gong isn’t human; his inner thoughts are often crawling with darkness, constantly acting out his own mental dramas.
3. Don’t force yourself if this isn’t your taste! This is mainly about writing a yandere, gloomy, twisted, walking-red-flag male lead! A gong with overwhelming, suffocating love!

The synopsis is actually intentionally misleading. The narrator is meant to be a bit unreliable, and you find out how pretty quickly.
I would say that this should have a horror tag, but that might be a spoiler for the first couple chapters. Some of the visuals might be a bit icky. Still, I think it's worth saying for anyone who wanted something dog-blood or fluffy. I guess it leans more towards fluffy tbh.
I actually quite liked the explanation in the story for why he likes MC so much. ML is NOT one of those black flag yanderes and actually would probably cry at the idea of making MC cry or hurt. He's actually more like a silly romantic, just a little guy who could technically also instantly mu*der everyone within a 500 mile radius. Very cute. He doesn't do anything towards MC than basically beg not to break up lol, there's no threatening to kill MC or his family or anything, just pls pls pls give me another chance, I don't know why you're upset but let me make it up to u
yet once we have both MC and ML in the scene, they forcefully portray a campus romance
the relationship feels one way until you really see the meanings behind MC's actions for ML, I really liked the lengths he would go to to make sure ML doesn't get upset over certain things, he indulges ML's possessive tendencies and actively reassures the insecurity in ML through his actions
ML, aside from being an eldrich monster and the main villain in this story, is quite the puppy dog for MC. Despite the power difference, he never once tries to take advantage of MC. Even when he snapped from the breakup, all he ended up doing after the tough talk was beg and be pitiful for MC, which was really adorable ngl. His way of trying to convince the MC was to reflect on all his own actions and tried to be a better version of himself.
- Creepy - yes
- Fresh - yes
- Interesting - sometimes
- Making me like the characters or emphasise with them - not really
- Complete - well while the story was complete, it was a bit bland and it could be more fun if there were some arcs with complete stories about each infection case, where there would be some mystery, interaction btw characters, development of the characters and their relationship, complete story of each infection with all the why and how answered.
So overall I recommend the story, I think it is worth reading, but do not expect it being a fascinating masterpiece.
