There are too many black companies (exploitative companies) in South Korea.

Jung Hwi-kyung, an upstanding young person in South Korea, was returning home after ending their unpaid internship when they helped a suspicious elderly woman. The elderly woman, saying it’s rare to see such a kind young person these days, asked Hwi-kyung to make a wish. Without much thought, Hwi-kyung said “I want to get a job at a good place”….

Little did they know that the wish would focus on “good place” rather than “getting a job.”

Who would have known there was a system where if you get hired at a black company, you return to being a job seeker again?

Grandmother… where in Korea can you even find a company that isn’t a black company….

Jung Hwi-kyung, now a powerful office worker who has tried everything from small businesses, public corporations, large corporations, medium-sized companies, contract positions, permanent contract positions, temporary positions, daily work, to full-time positions, has one thing left to try.

“I will personally employ you.”

“Pardon?”

“Four major insurances guaranteed, separate incentives, all meals provided, separate overtime and weekend pay.”

“…”

“Full-time employment with separate holiday bonuses, freedom to use vacation days, and casual dress code.”

A live-in housekeeper for a parachute-appointed executive director?

Note: “Black company” is a term used in East Asian countries to describe exploitative companies with poor working conditions. A “parachute appointment” refers to someone placed in a high position through connections rather than merit.

More of a 4.5 out of 5, with the few points taken off because the translation has some issues with consistency. It isn't unreadable, and I'm grateful to the translator, but it really is a bit confusing at times. It could use an editor to go over everything.

Overall, though, the translation is good enough that the author's natural talent shines through. This is one of the best examples of omniscient third person POV writing I've read in quite some time. Amazing writing.

It can drag on a little towards the end... more>> with pacing. I think the author may have had some trouble wrapping everything up, but the work is written well enough with good humor throughout, so I didn't mind.

Definitely a standout among the many available books on NU. Worth your time if you enjoy character development! <<less

I love this novel for its completely novel premise and unexpected touches of dark humour. Usually it’s become a CEO / save a failing company or die, but here the goal is deceptively humble.

ML is kind of childish and some people might be irritated at his early behaviour but honestly he’s a saint if you think about everything he had to tolerate.

MC has depression from dozens of regression and seeing his grandmother pass away repeatedly. The only way out of this time loop is to achieve his original wish of... more>> gaining legal employment, but this doesn’t quite work out for one reason or another. Even on the most successful run, he lived long enough to become the problem.

Being a modern fantasy with some supernatural tropes there is a bit of authorial handwaving with regards to how the happy ending is achieved but this was wrapped up pretty neatly compared to most BL webnovels. Makes you believe that love is about the small things in life, and that’s even considering ML is a chaebol lol <<less
