Chen Mang finds himself transmigrated into a desolate, post-apocalyptic world where endless zombie hordes roam the wasteland and the air reeks of death.

To survive, humanity’s last remnants must become “Train Captains”—gathering resources like ore and minerals to build, fortify, and continuously upgrade their personal trains. These armored locomotives are their only means of navigating the wasteland while evading zombie swarms. The alternative is s*avery, living at the mercy of another Captain.

In this world, all train components have maximum level caps. But Chen Mang’s unique birthmark grants him an extraordinary ability: he can upgrade components without any limit whatsoever.

While other Captains dismiss basic, common-grade parts like “Carriage Blades” and “Drill Rams,” Chen Mang pushes them to levels beyond imagination.

Before long, he realizes he has become invincible.

And so begins the thunderous rampage of a juggernaut train—hundreds of carriages long and heavily fortified—across the doomsday wilderness.

“In this world, there are only two kinds of people…

Train Captains, and s*aves.”

Just so you know, there's a translation team on Scribblehub that posts 2 chapters a day and they're already up to chapter 200 (at the time of this post).

The story is your average power fantasy apocalypse story. Guy gets sent to apocalypse game world with cheat and proceeds to use it to dominate. There's a surprisingly small amount of the standard face-slapping and the MC does come off as reasonable, intelligent, and practical.

It's a fairly decent story, even if pretty standard for this genre. The translators do a decent job... more>> as well. If you really want to support them, they apparently have a large backlog of chapters you can get immediate access to by donating on their patreon. <<less

I believe this novel was inspired by Apocalypse: I Built the Infinite Train. It's the only novel I know of that concerns a train, with the task of outpacing disaster, with the world a cruel place, chasing the last specks of lights from a dwindling sand of time

This is not a review of this novel per se. I will do that when I do come around to read this, there are still backlogs I want to finish. I just want to point to the other novel. May update this review... more>> when possible. Putting it at 4 stars for now <<less

Pretty good if you like apocalypse shelter upgrade stories. The shelter here is obviously a Train in a world that works like a game for upgrades and monsters.

Everything has levels, and the logic is really "game logic" not real world logic, (for example, iron can be used to craft food) with upgrades easily becoming futuristic SF with a slight mix of fantasy.

The plot thickens starting from chapter in the 50s and gives a presage to the future scope of the story while being interesting.

However I must insist on the... more>> upgrade part of the story, if you're looking for a heavy action story, this story is probably not for you, so far while there has been some action the focus has mostly been on the upgrades and story being revealed a little bit.

The situation is overall pretty grim for basic survivors, I recommend double checking story tags.

Also, translation is actually quite good so far, which is rare enough with chinese translations nowadays that its worth mentioning.

Edit: after checking further in the MTL, I dropped the note from 4 to 3 stars as I felt like the story was a bit weak and not playing on his strength after a while, still readable to waste time (or if you're really into the genre). <<less
