My Dream is to Get My Own House

I died and returned to my family and lover.
The way to legally and quickly disconnect from them is to buy a house and become independent-

“If I get married in the country, will you give me a house?”

Marriage, and moving into a newlywed town.
Half-jokingly, I proposed to the perfect knight, Sir Dylan.

“Will you marry me?”

His expression was really bad.
All forces retreat.

“Just kidding, if you don’t like it, I’ll marry Henry.”

“Let’s get married as soon as possible.”

I don’t know why, but he accepted the result?!
Besides, this husband is suspiciously nice to me!

“I’ve cleaned up in advance.”

“I made a shake. Don’t skip lunch.”

“I’ve made a light dinner.”

A light meal for dinner?
I don’t think you’re in your right mind

~*~

Anyway, thanks to the money I made to buy my own house, the time for divorce quickly came.
But my husband, who I thought was an ordinary knight, is the cursed Grand Duke?

“This…! Isn’t this a fraudulent marriage?”

“There was a situation. I’ll compensate you.”

I was intrigued by the word “compensate”.
He grabbed my hand roughly and put it to his chest.

“I swear to god, from now on I will do well at night.”

I could feel the thick chest and a fast beating heart on my fingertips.
As he looked deeply into my bewildered eyes, he suddenly whispered.

“I will pay the compensation with my body, so please accept it.”

…No, how are you going to compensate with your body?!

I'd like to disagree with the top review when you said it gripes you that the author changed her appearance normally glasses and messy hair means the characters is ugly not a looker but when I read that's not the case because she wasn't looking after her self dirty glasses untidy hair I feel like it was supposed to be a new changed for her and she's leaving her dirty push over self behind although if she's blind why did they take the glasses anyway it didn't make me mad... more>> like true beauty <<less

excellent start, looks like a promising story. A bit cliche but nicely done.

my only gripe: the author removes her fluffy hair and big glasses as soon as she gets married. As if having fluffy hair and glasses was a sin :/ and frankly, she looks better like that than on the cover - at least she has a personality.

still, this is just a small eye-roll towards the author, otherwise it's your typical cute soft-revenge against abusive family and misunderstood adorable ML story. An enjoyable read.

The translation is readable but messy. First, second, and third person pronouns are all mixed up; ranks of the named nobles are also mixed up and seemed to be used synonymously (duke, marquis, count, viscount one of the recurring characters has all of these titles, apparently). And "mausoleum"?? It should be a "tower, " no? When it first got mentioned, I didn't think too much, but after I kept reading, I realized it was referring to a magician's tower and NOT a place where the dead lay above ground....

To be... more>> fair, the actually writing itself seems to be pretty unclear and stilted as well. The romantic pacing isn't too bad, but everything else is moving at a break-neck speed. The characters are also all pretty flat, and they aren't described in much detail (still no clue what the emperor looks like other than "handsome") aside from FL and ML. There's also a lot of filler gossip lines to help pad it out, which gets annoying fast. If you read Chinese webnovels, it's basically just the flurry of Weibo/bullet comments that consume like half the page to be a foil to/gas up a character.

FL is Mary Sue to the fullest with solid face slaps; ML is a giant puppy, must protect. FL has no personality aside from being a Mary Sue, and her only hobby is face-slapping. ML gradually develops a personality as the curse dies out, which is nice.

Spoiler

Making magic circles/formulas essentially software coding was creative of the author.

Also, regarding the "makeover, " it's not like FL actually underwent a full transformation. Her "fluffy" hair was just unbrushed and messy in order to cover her face (she doesn't have curly hair), and she wore glasses even though she didn't need them (she has no sight issues) ; both because this was how she was raised to 1) serve as a foil to her sister, 2) hide her after she was trafficked/adopted. I understand that we're tired of the "makeover" trope, but this actually served a purpose for her, as she is almost instantly recognized by her grandfather pretty early on (around 1/4 of the way in)

Which by the way that claim is just a strong hunch because of the ham-fisted foreshadowing: 1) FL is super maltreated compared to her sister for NO reason, 2) we were informed that the recurring character of many noble titles has a kidnapped granddaughter, 3) the FL's father seems to be involved in trafficking, or at least with the same organization that trafficked her, 4) the noble grandpa thought FL was his granddaughter, but her eye color is off (but it's a magic world, so... yea), 5) the masochistic cousin's heart and body instinctively recognizes her though his mind hasn't caught up.

Edit: 6) I totally forgot but there was a fortune teller who's actually a divine beast that was mentioned super early on and circled back to around halfway in that perfectly describes FL's living situation that we as reader's would be privy to. There is absolutely no subtlty.

Honestly, I want to finish this series since I made it this far, but man is it tough to get through. I'll update my review, but maybe not the rating, if I don't drop it

It's a 2.5 for me right now, so I'm giving it a 2.

Update: Made it to 71; I'm giving up. I stopped reading it for two days, and just couldn't find any joy to pick up from 70. When I finished 71, I realized that I don't remember the fine details of the previous chapters anymore...

Spoiler

Of course there was a fake/imposter arc, but it felt super short and wasn't impactful/emotional because the cousin and grandfather just didn't really care/believe the imposter and loved the FL so much, so they didn't care when the fake/imposter was revealed. And of course we found out the FL was adopted (what?! noooooooooo) ; can't remember if this was before or at the climax of the fake/imposter arc. Anywho her family's in jail, or at least her parents are, and she's keeping/adopting the fortune teller divine beast. Neato

Absolutely love the story. It's funny and refreshingly different, even though it's a regression story. Yet the FL comes over as smart and not a helpless damsel in distress. Plus, the translation is superb! I'm really hoping the quality stays stellar all the way through.

Well, I just completed the story. I still love the story but somehow midway, the TL quality fell (ᗒ︵ᗕ) ՞

Sadly, I don't recommend reading this except if they've finally edited the translated chapters...

I think there was something wrong with the translation or the writing (?) so I found it a bit... challenging to read. Ok, honestly not a bit, but a lot.

Anyway I've finally managed to complete it since I want to know the ending... won't leave any review for this one since I think it was error in translation that made it bad and it was unfair for the story itself. I think it was somehow an... more>> mtl and unedited translations (?) Lots of wrong symbols like ".." and '..' that usually used to differentiate between words actually said and the thoughts of the characters. Wrong titles for the same person... Made it really hard to read😂

For the story itself, a lot of cliche plot but actually it would be interesting if only it was written / translated properly. Too bad : ( <<less

I wouldn't comment on the translation because the novel itself is written like a child's play. There are so many inconsistencies that I don't even want to write a list... Okay, just one example:... more>>
Spoiler

FL's hair color change and it's not a "personal hygiene" thing. It goes from black to chestnut. I guess the author couldn't decide.

[collapse]

Honestly, I tried to ignore those inconsistencies, thinking maybe there would be an actual plot after the not-so-comedic scenes, but I lost my dedication to read this novel.

Since there is no common sense, the drama is not worth it either, so BYE.

Dropped after chapter 23. <<less

It's truly cliche with a Mary Sue FL. Which can still work, if the story has amazing humour or a twist here and there. Sadly, it feels as though the author is just ticking off the popular tags, the starter pack of "abusive family, regression, pathetic to op fl, " to fulfil her contract of writing n novels.

The two stars are for the fluff and the peace of mind when reading, knowing that nothing can truly ruin the FL and her relationship with the ml.

Will recommend to read from source... more>> because the 'translation' seems to be worse than google translate. <<less

If you love a cliché regressed OP and overly smart FL then I guess this one is for you. Like the other comments FL is a Mary Sue. The FL and ML's interaction was adorable and I would have enjoyed and continuing reading this until I got bored of an FL who gets everything she wanted.

I just want to rant these out;

Spoiler

1. FL is your typical character being oppressed from her family and lover who regressed twice and because she regained her first life memories living as a workaholic woman she became a super confident and cunning woman who now thinks of everyone as a pawn for her plans to have her own most expensive house.

2. When she drank the truth serum how come she was able to omit the part where she regressed twice when she was interrogated as to how come she knew the magic formula. In the early chapter where the Duke gave the witness a truth serum regarding Diana's disappearance he straight up told everything but for some reason FL was able to dodge it? Like isn't that I dunno biased from the author?

[collapse]

I thought it's gonna be a different from other novels I read even though there's a ton of cliché tropes in it but man I'm tired of Mary sues so I'm dropping this.

Fred the fairy godmother and wingman aka emperor is the only character who I liked in this novel. <<less

I was confused in dialogues, who speak to whom? English is my third language. From what I grasp, it is typical Mary Sue cliche.
