Too much explanation about basic Japanese culture that sounds like it was taken directly from a wiki. While it may be helpful for people who don't know anything about Japan and have no access to wikipedia, the explanations could have been written more organically and with more brevity.

If you're willing to skim past about 1/3 of each chapter, you get... IDK. The protagonist is boring, the side characters are also boring or disgusting. I can't see myself getting into a romcom involving these people, so I'm out.

Probably has one of the shittiest final arcs.

Basically one of the heroines asked MC to protect her from assassins aiming for her inheritance while she waited for her father to die of illness (sounds bad but they both kinda wanted each other to die anyway). He agreed, tanked two bullets for her and had to stay bedridden for some days.

Then she drugged and r*ped him. With zero repercussions.

It's pretty much like Fluffums has reviewed it.

The setting is real world, but with, well, fantasy (?) elements (i.e. System), though it doesn't have that much influence so far. So that's okay. The infodumps are long and annoying, but not very frequent, so you can just skip them (I did).

The plot and characters are meh. Tepid. The premise of MC wanting to prioritize education etc. Is good. I mean, that's how a guy should be, especially a mature guy, if he wants to amount to something. However, it's true that... more>> the protagonist is considerably boring, even if he doesn't have any particularly annoying (from a reader's POV) flaws. And that is somewhat okay because the premise of the story is clearly a normal guy just focusing on his own thing while chicks disturb him.

Unfortunately, that's where the story is weak. The female characters aren't endearing in the least. They're considerably annoying most of the time, and one of them, a very short girl that provoked the MC repeatedly, is simply hateful, but I have a nagging feeling that she's going to be a love interest and possibly a girlfriend/wife later. So far the MC dealt with her well, but I have this gut feeling that the author will improve their relationship later, and honestly, she's not even a one-night-stand material because of how screwed she is. She's a psycho with a horrible personality.

The other girls aren't nearly as bad, but they're far from charming. The only charming girl is a loli, but hell, who cares about a loli that's not even out of primary school? I mean, if you are a pe*vert who's into such lolis, then go ahead and read. She's cute, I'll grant that much. But when I think of her age, the whole thing feels sus and awkward.

Overall, not a bad novel, but nothing stellar, either. I won't even try to find MTL. <<less
