I feels it's unfair for me to rate the story, since I've only been able to get through the first 23 chapters. Based on the description, I expected a fluffy romance between MC and ML.

Although their romance is growing, it's extremely slow. Not because of slow-burn pacing, but because they interact 1-2 times (sometimes even 0) in each chapter. Knowing barely anything about them and not being given anything (especially about the ML) makes it difficult to become attached to the story and want to keep reading.

There's a lot of... more>> world building and lengthy description about niche science/engineering facts. But because I'm not invested in the characters, to keep reading just because the setting around them is interesting isn't enough for me.

Based on what I've read,
Spoiler

90% of the chapters just consists of following MC when he's working. Not with the purpose to get to know more about MC and other characters around him, but simply overly detailed scenes of MC running, cleaning, or working on a project where the details of how everything works goes on and on... and on. If I had gotten to know MC or ML better, or about half of the chapters had anything to do with their romantic development, I would probably have continued reading because there is a huge potential if character development and the plot becoming more clear.

I know 23 chapters is quite early to drop when a novel has 100+ chapters but I honestly
Spoiler

don't care enough about the the molecular structure of a plant or the efficiency of changing the shape of a turbine to be frank. But if you're into that, the novel will certainly keep you interested.

The description of the story that made me pick it up in the first place isn't wrong, but I expected the author would've put a lot more value in at least building their relationship

The MC and ML still feel
Spoiler

like one dimensional characters with over used troupes. MC is the loving "wife" that cooks, cleans, and wants to support ML. ML is emotionally distant and has a hard time opening up. Naturally, these things take time, but the lack of interaction between them is so frustratingly slow. I want to like them, feel for them, stay for them, but it just doesn't happen.

Regarding the universe and it's technologically advanced and "progressive society"
Spoiler

it was a bit confusing to read since it felt very contradictory.

They're living in a future where they're encouraged to pair to up with someone. The society feels open minded with future technology that can also determine same s*x relationships as the best compability and males can also get pregnant and it doesn't seem like it's a taboo in society, like gender & s*x doesn't matter. Basically, a advanced society with progression regarding sexism and h*mophobia, but no.

In the beginning, it seems like whether MC (X) paired up X/Y doesn't matter at all because MC and the one's conducting the tests doesn't value any result as lesser or more unfortunate. The exceptionally high match rate is treated as something praiseworthy and exceptionally good. Because it's not something frowned upon just because they're both X.

The wording and overall tone that follows are a bit... problematic. Rather than "anyone can have a child" it's phrased as "anyone can become a mother", which makes labels suddenly feel very important again. So, if it's between two males one becomes the other the father. But if they're both female, is the one not carrying the child still called the mother? Or does it not matter? But it clearly does since if two males have a child they can't just both be called father.

The female gender role of being the perfect stay at home mom that cooks and cleans is still clearly associated with the "being a good wife" narrative. MC has no problem being called ML's wife, but because ML can't cook he feels that he won't be as good of a wife to MC. So the word "wife" is used as "partner" but with associated old gender stereotypes.

When MC or ML mentions they have a partner, everyone assumes they have a wife (not a husband) as if it's the natural answer. Even though gender shouldn't be a matter, none of them ever correctes them either which makes it feel once again that it is a taboo.

When they got the results none them was treated as "good news, the rating is high. Bad news, it's also a male. None of them feel as if they were hoping for one gender over the other - just a partner.

If the stigma around same s*x relationships did exist in that world, it would make sense for ML (the general) to hide it since he's a well-known important figure for the public and for the future of the world, then it would make sense to refer to MC as his wife instead and not correct people when they assume his partner is a female.

But if it was such a taboo, given his influence and image the staff would be rushing to search for a female instead with the highest rate they have collected or tell him to come back next year. Even if he was open to publicly dating a male, the people in charge would probably force him to hide it or never go through with it in the first place.

So yeah, to me it doesn't make sense how the society is progressive, but it't not, but it's not, yet it is.

Another author trying to be subversive in mixing the wife and husband characteristics between the MC and the ML while forgetting that it's a male x male story. Insisting about male and female roles then saying of course it doesn't matter because in my story everybody can do as they please while male and female part in society is latent in every sentence of the novel.

MC is always right. Right behaviour, right tone, right decision. Good cook, good mecanic, good soldier if not the best of each. The author rave... more>> about him but of course MC himself is humble and know the right way to smile.

ML is the genius general, admired by all citizens and soldiers and being schemed against by some military/politic elites. Of course he has a close friend who can give him advice about everything.

Relationship between MC and ML: for unknowned reasons MC doesn't misunderstand the cold actions of ML and pamper him (because ML is the wife) so he can act coquettish...

I don't know where the story is going yet, so it's a 3 stars, but I will try to find a more open minded author and drop this. <<less

Loving it so far. We have a seemingly ordinary, but well performing seme MC (with some big secrets), and "cold, manly" general shou (whose world was gray until he met MC).

There are some secrets, both regarding certain past events as well as MC's identity (ho ho ho).

Spoiler

I actually guessed who he was pretty early on, but because I'm MTLing sometimes I doubted if I read it right, and some things didn't translate well, so some info was a little confusing, but in the end, I was happy that my guess is correct. I like this kind of rebirth story.

[collapse]

The story doesn't stick to one environment as we have both work and relaxing moments between the two, it also doesn't let you get bored as there is always something happening and retaining your attention.

The two's relationship is sweet, and they both want to support each other. MC is working hard to catch up to his lover identity-wise. The revenge plot is foreshadowed as well.

Haven't seen all that many villains yet. There was only one that was pretty annoying but that's related to his weird personality. I don't know what the rest will be like yet.

There are many moments of sweetness, but also some moments that make you feel sad for the characters.

I don't know how the rest of the story is yet, but with what I've seen so far, I can recommend it. <<less

It's one of those military-officer-shou-marrying-below-his rank ~plot. Interestingly, in compare to other tropes, I like how different these webnovels are despite the same trope Gong/seme is quite the kind, homemaker type but is low-key strong. What's unique is there's farming in the middle of... a spaceship. 😅

Mpreg was explained properly as well. Generally, it's a lovely story, there are conflicts but no faceslapping nor dogblood. It's all a sweet slow-burn romance journey tinged with action.

Pretty good. Towards the end the author seems a bit perfunctory with the plot, but the fluff has increased.

It only took 2 CHAPTERS to hook me to this book. ML is a sweet wife (My little impression from a chapter) and MC, well, I can't say anything about him yet, but he's gonna be a great dad 😭

ML is a general and MC is a Corporal. I wonder where their love story begin?? By sex? It would be funny (but sweet) if everything started with s*x 😭🖐️

3.5 stars.

I'm on the fence about this because I really did enjoy the novel but there were parts that I was disappointed by as well.

When I first started the novel, I thought it was another one of those mindless "arranged marriage to general" tropes. I was pleasantly surprised by their relationship dynamics, the main couple are both very gentle people and give domestic vibes. I was a big fan of their relationship, I enjoyed seeing their relationship develop, their daily life and also how the ML got lots of love... more>> from the MC's family.

I was also surprised by the mystery that was starting to unravel as the story went along, as well as how some seemingly normal and unassuming characters ended up being part of the mystery. However, what was disappointing was how the author handled the mystery and the big reveal of the truth. It really fell flat for me, because it was a truth people fought to bury but the writing made it feel like it was all a sandcastle that crumbled without a fight. Additionally, after the mystery was revealed, the story continued to drag on and moved along like a headless fly. It seemed like the author didn't know how to end the story, because this last arc was so out of place and should really have been placed before the big reveal to bring more tension to the climax.

Aside from that, it might just be me, but I was very disappointed when
Spoiler

the MC was revealed to be a reincarnation of the super OP Emperor Qin Feng who was the center of the controversy and had died 700 years ago.

[collapse]

It felt like such a let down because I really adored MC's character of being the hardworking and diligent husband who toiled to climb from the very bottom despite being suppressed by nepotism and that all his expertise came from his own efforts. But the author totally ruined it with
Spoiler

the reveal that he was so talented because of his reincarnation.

[collapse]

Overall, I enjoyed the first half of the story but not so much the second half. Thank you to the translators for the hard work! <<less

Some parts are full of desciption of food which I quick read hahhaha our MC is a good cook anyways the story itself is nice and have a differently touch fr other interstellar novels

From one of the chapters:

Their marriage was hasty, and their goal of being together was practical and single-minded, without any romantic pledges or steadfast commitments. But through their interactions, a delicate and intimate affection blossomed, which would last for a long time.

A real slice of life kinda story with a little twist. For me the pace is slow but mant heartwarming moments. Even I sometimes feel its a bit slowburn, the background story and the world building is excellence. Both couple are op. But given their capabilities, its given. Later on there’s alot sweet moments and cute babies! There’s also alot of interstellar adventures which differ from the usual trope. (Quite a refreshing read) . Overall a good read for me. Tq
