My Son Might Be A Villain

Su Ran, a music prodigy, woke up transmigrated into a book.

At that point in time, the main story arc in the book had already been completed. As a villainess female supporting character, not only did she need to take over the original owner’s pitiful life in poverty, she also gained an instant son right at his rebellious period.

Ten or so more years from then, the son would turn into a twisted, evil villain. He would appear in one of the extra chapters to pick on the male and female lead’s children.

***

Su Ran: Son, you shouldn’t be too outstanding.
Su Han: Why not?
Su Ran: ’cause you will be killed.

Su Ran: Son, would you like to learn music from me and become a zen, little fairy boy who only needs to drink dew.
Su Han: No, I want to go into business so I can support you.

2nd read in Oct 2023: I will still give this a 4-star rating. However, this time, I no longer have issues with the son being a thirdwheel. In fact, I often want to complain about ML because he always pushes the son away so he can spend time with MC. I feel bad for this cutie son. He already missed most of his years lacking parental love, but right when he finally gets it, his dad still steals the love and affection from the mom. Another thing why this doesn't... more>> get 5 stars is because the antagonists are not even real antagonists. They are completely harmless. Also, the children of the antagonists seemed to be good children but they were only introduced at a surface level. It's wasted potential for more plot. The translation is ok, but they need a proper editor. I spotted a lot of grammatical mistakes, wrong word usage, incorrect spelling of words, and the names of characters often get mixed up. 1st read:

I love the MC and her son! He doesn't get rid of his tsundere personality throughout the story, which is fine but he eventually becomes such a huge third wheel or as they say in chinese novels, a bright lightbulb. It's a pity the romance area of the story was quite lacking. The 'original' main lead also does not pose much threat so there's that. The MC's path is very smooth and rarely met with any bumps, especially if you consider how "dirty" her past is. (Although I personally believe that one should not shame s*x workers for their jobs. It's just an exchange of goods - a way of earning money.) The "new" Su Ran did not suffer at all, despite the reputation the original owner has.

I completed the main storyline, I stopped reading the extra chapters because I was no longer interested. It also does not affect the main storyline, so there's no need to read them. I started reading the mtl version at chapter 56. Overall, despite the weird wordings at times, I read through the mtl version quite quickly. <<less

A short novel and without drama, those words summarize this work, what I liked about all this beautiful work, was the interaction of the father with the son, he has a barbarous way of educating children.

SPOILER, if you don't want to know about the spoiler, don't read, I can't say much about the protagonist, everyone when they read the novel will find it strange that the son accepts the mother very easily, when the real mother was cruel, and it is something that It leaves you a void, because... more>> at the end of the novel she never clarifies from Lu Shao or Su Han who she really is. It's also funny when they try to have a second baby, and they were expecting a girl and they get a boy, and Su Ran didn't want to throw away the girls' clothes or accessories that she bought so for a year they put girl's clothes on her. In short, hypocrisy. It was a very entertaining novel, recommended, you will like how Lu Shao proposes to Su Ran. It was so romantic, and fast xd. <<less

It is a novel with a lot of romance and beautiful moments.

MC tries to cope with her new role as a mother and adapt to her environment.

Maybe it bothers me a little how the child forgives her mother so quickly but anyway. If you like light novels where there are no extraordinary twists and you just want to hang out ahead

Spoiler

The epilogue, it was simply beautiful, the villain made me very sad, I just need to see how he interacted with his brothers.

I hope the translation is completed to read it again, I think it may change some things a bit <<less

This is definitely recommended for a good time. I loved the interactions between father and son. I started this novel with the translation from Fuyuneko and read until chapter 48. Translator did a great job with this novel. Unfortunately I was impatient and couldn't wait for updates, so I finished this novel in MTL. 16 raw chapters equal to 48 chapters in translation (approx). I guess I would have had to wait for almost 6 months to finish this novel if I depended on translator ?. Anyway, I would suggest... more>> you to put this on your reading list and read it after the complete translation. You would have a great time that way. Kudos to Author-san ? <<less

It was an overall fun story to read. Perfect for just some light stuff or maybe something to read in between a heavy novel. It isn't that deep, there's no large drama or overdramatic fight scenes and it's very relaxing to read in general. It's fairly short and the chapters aren't tedious to read.

The reason I gave this a four was because of the writing. It was still a good read but the writing did have some shortcomings, the characters and plot sometimes seemed to lack depth and some stuff... more>> like the su family drama just gets dismissed like it never happened. MTL was a little hard to follow but it was still ok.

I wouldn't rave about it, but I might mention it in passing. <<less

A somewhat different setup than others in this subgenre, very slice-of-life, but just not as fluffy and entertaining as I’d hoped.

It was a good story

The romance are so so

Its more to slice of life and the story focus more between mother and son

But I feel kinda bit unrealistic how, for 12 years, she treat her son so so bad, but easily open his heart again for her because of simple gesture like sharing her food.

[collapse]

Other than that, are okay

And I think how nice it is for the ML to accept MC past

Spoiler

Since she's a prostitute before and the bad past with protagonists. Not that I have problem that MC being a prostitute, just I think its rare for people to accept their partner like that, and I think its nice.

I really liked this story because it is different. If you are looking for a plot revenge story with a plot twist this story is not for you, it is a simple slice of life about a character who has already received his bad ending trying to live better with his son.

If there are no other novels, then you can read this one. The author himself destroyed several storylines. To be honest, I don’t know why he created them in order to forget about it later. Everything looks as if he had to rush to finish this novel. Maybe this is due to the fact that the author has no experience. Well, I would give this novel a rating of 3.7.

The synopsis intrigued me because it started at the end of the novel, which I was really hoping to find in novels overall, so I was glad to have found it, though rather late in years. Still, the FL, ML, and their sons's personality, I loved all of them. Except for maybe a number of chapters where SH was annoying to read. Although he was not physically aggressive, it irked me how he treated his father. I almost dropped the story because of it. But I'm glad I stayed till... more>> the end, at least he and his father worked through with their conflicting attitude towards each other.

One thing I noticed about the ML that differentiated him among the many I've read, he's the type that understands the FL completely, COMPLETELY. Even her little gestures or changes in her mood, HE'S THE MOST IDEAL ML EVER THAT U WOULD WANT IN REAL LIFE, FR. Not only that, he's also fully aware of his actions and sincerely apologizes for his mistakes instantly, yes you've read that right. The moment he sounds wrong or might have though he offendedthe FL, he apologizes like a true gentlemen he is. Other reviewers of this novel might say otherwise but I'm standing my ground.

What shocked me the most about this novel was how it utilized the backstories. It may appear ordinary and common among many CN at first sight, but when SR and SH's backstories were further explained, especially the extra chapters after the ending, the author was specially brutal about it, my heart ached for the main characters. The ending is good tho, don't worry, nothing tragic happening here. As with the other characters like LBY, SZY, and LX, I loved how realistic they were all portrayed. After years of reading CN, I was shocked to read these type of characters, that I was looking for many novels already, to have appeared in a novel that published this 6 years ago, and I've been reading CN for 7 years, damn. I'm still glad I found it, tho.

Overall, the plot was meh, it could've been properly executed but I guess that wasn't the author's focus. However, I liked all the charactess. Everyone was up to my expectations and I liked how the author was challenging the trope with the characters, we may have similar thoughts on CN novels. The translations were all good, almost great. Just that some names were mixed up, but that's a super minor issue. <<less

This is one of the stories I read when I first discovered NU and decided to reread it again before doing a review. My opinion of it then was kind of rose tinted glasses because it's not quite as good as I remember.

The MC is Su Ran, a musical master who transmigrated into the body of a similarly named woman in a novel world after the novel ended. She gains an instant son and immediately decides that she is going to make their lives better. She uses her skills as... more>> a musical genius to start gaining money but things get a little derailed when she accidentally runs into the ML of the story. After that, we're treated to the rather dense MC not realizing that the ML was just as interested in marrying her as he was in supporting his son.

The ML is Lu Shao, the patriarch of the Lu family. While older than the MC (it's never outright stated but he was in his 20s while she was 15/16 when Su Han was conceived), he is immediately interested in her upon first meeting. In fact, he's attracted to her before he even knows that she gave birth to his son. He's a little emotionally constipated and showcases the usual Cold CEO demeanour. While he was unaware of his son's existence, he pretty much goes "yep, that's definitely my son" upon seeing him for the first time (there is a DNA test done but he's already pretty much decided before that).

Overall, the story is relatively unimpactful when it comes to the MC. She solves all of her money problems pretty quickly and then the harder problems are all solved by the ML. There isn't any face-slapping for those who harmed her in the past and only one for someone who tried to do something in the present.

Spoiler

She sent music to one company and then they tried to claim that she plagiarised it when it ends up purchased by another company. Afterwards, all the evidence reveals the truth (super quickly I might add) and then that's it. No details of the consequences beyond a minor sentence about how the person responsible was punished. Of course, that person doesn't even look for revenge either. Just a kind of "one and done".

[collapse]

The MC honestly comes off as a little s*upid in this. While it's not necessarily a bad thing, it just makes her bland and requires the ML to explain everything. I like a dense main character but this was just too boring to read by the end of it. Towards the end, it was really hard not to skip paragraphs that just reinforced her denseness.

There is also the addition of the "Chats" between different groups. They did not add anything to the story. They were all rather pointless. Especially the ones about the other Lu family members as we don't spend much time with those characters.

And then the "revenge" against the ones who destroyed the original Su Ran's life. The MC really didn't care much about going back against them at all, just wanting to live her new life with her instant son, but the ML engages in revenge for her. And it's pretty much just mentioned in passing how he did it.

The extras are weird. We have Su Han in the original having grown up without Su Ran. Then there is one about the original Su Ran changing her life and going with her parents instead. Overall, doesn't add much to the main story but kind of nice to read.

Spoiler

Su Han without Su Ran became an insane person who basically got revenge on all the wealthy men who were at the party where the original Su Ran ended up killing herself. Apparently, he only became obsessed with the novel's original ML's daughter because she played the same song that Su Ran played before her death. Eventually, he gets saved by Lu Shao before dreaming about the world with Su Ran in it. That ends with him calling the original Lu Shao "dad".

The Su Ran one was odd as it's just her living a happy life and getting married while retaining the memories up until she died.

[collapse]

Over all, it's not bad. It's not incredibly good either. A recommended only if you want a slice of life where rarely anything interrupts the MC's life. <<less

I liked it at first, but to be honest I couldn't warm up to the ML. His attitude and propriorities didn't sit well with me.

Spoiler

Instead of trying to get close to his son, he was mostly planning how to get with the FL. Some can argue that he was doing both, but the way he went about it rubbed me in the wrong way. The son's personality and attitude made sense since he suffered in the past. However, the fact this wasn't taken into account, made me angry. The ML thought he didn't know how to be a father, but since that man runs such a big business, he isn't that clueless. There are times where you should advance then retreat. Constantly competing with his son for the FL's attention was petty and childish. I don't know why webnovelists do this. It isn't cute. Instead, he should've respected his son's feelings, let him know that he wanted to be in his life, and ask if he could see him from time to time. As for the misunderstanding, he should have just explained it gently and patiently. The son is old enough to learn the circumstances of his birth. Of course, that wouldn't happen because the author made the ML an ice cube until he met the FL. Even if writer's go down the CEO route, I wish they wouldn't copy and paste the characters. Make them different. Anyways, after building a relationship with his son, he could try to change his and the FL's relationship. But even then, I find that weird. Though it has been revealed they were both victims (FL being an transmigrator still is irrelevant in this case) who in their right might would pursue/accept their r*pist?

And another thing about the FL, in the beginning she said it was up to her son if he wanted to communicate with his father, but further on without asking she invites the ML to family activities and stuff, making her son upset. She was quite contradicting.

Cute and fluffy until 2/3 in it just gets repetitive. You don’t see much growth in the father son relationship. Then once FL and ML confirm their relationship, they kind of cast the son to grow on his own which seems contradictory to the FL’s intentions on being a better mother. The FL had an edge in the beginning as a renowned musician but gets more and more dependent as it goes on. She acknowledges the son’s trauma in the beginning but by the end it’s like she just forgets... more>> about them. Don’t feel like they really made it up to the son except more so in the beginning.

Major plot hole is also the villains. I’m all for a life of focusing on themselves rather than needing to face slap the villains but why spend time writing about them only to leave them forgotten? Especially how much she harped about the Song twins and being wary of them. It’s like they only served the purpose of showing the ML was better than the Song family and after he acquires their company, it alludes that he’ll prevent them from starting over with the capital. We find out Mrs. Song is sent to an asylum and nothing more about the Su family after they get intimidated by the ML. It’s just really abrupt and unsatisfying. <<less

BEWARE of SPOILER

Su Ran, a music prodigy, woke up transmigrated into a book. And she was the villain in said book. Her fate was about to end that very night. But, Su Ran won't give up no matter what. She have a 'son' to save.

In most story, The ML and FL are the lead while the rest are either supporting characters or just cannon fodder. For the first time ever, in my honest opinion, the ML in this story was a supporting character because Su Ran and her son, Su... more>> Han, were enough to carry on the plot.

Before transmigration, Su Ran never think of having a family. Her life was her music. In fact, she past away in her previous life because of music. But once she woke up in the book world and knew she have a son, she took on that roll without batting an eyelash. Her relationship with Su Han was the cutest thing ever in this story. And for once, a story where the son is in his early teen instead of a 2 to 3 years old child that acted and think like adult.

The story ended at chapter 95 according to MTL. But, the writer decided to add on some extra and one of that extra was a glimpse in Su Han life if the story progressed without Su Ran in it. To make it more realistic or baffling, which ever you like, the past Su Han and the new Su Han exchange soul for 5 days. Well, correct me if I'm wrong because MTL can be confusing.

But, the story was sweet enough that it can be a leisure read. <<less

I’ve tried to reread this several times but just could not find myself completing it. I did read the ending and extras via MTL.

My problems with it is that I could not find myself accepting the fact that a 13-14 year old boy who was abandoned and ab*sed by his mum could forgive her so easily.

I also did not really like the FL, Su Ran’s personality and felt it was boring.

Honestly tried to read it again but I always stop halfway. Writing this review to remind myself of the nth... more>> time trying. <<less

The story is medicore there is no drama and no face slapping at all of you are looking for novel for these two factors this is not for u !

Well it was cute I like su han's mature personality which wasn't shown overly mature for a child of his age and his tsundere side is actually not annoying which creat some sort of fluffy moments? In entire novel.

MC (su ran) is okish ? Character she is cool, air head so we doesn't really much emotional response from her

Spoiler

Su Han has just improved his relationship with his mother, but then after a few months, a new person and child has arrived. Su Han deserves to be pampered more!

[collapse]

Also, about OG Su Ran,
Spoiler

She's an ab*ser, well, what happened to her was way too traumatic, as already explained by a commenter, a pampered 16 year old girl was drugged, "raped", banished from her family, orphaned, and then got pregnant. She's all alone to fend for herself. And also, the child looks like the guy who "raped" her. And she's also forced to prostitute herself. Once pampered, high and mighty, then suddenly fell to sell her services. I dunno man. Everythings sounds so fckng traumatic, and yeah, I'm not sure how she managed to continue to live like that but hate/spite can also be a huge catalyst. I don't agree with her abusive acts. I just kind of understood why she was that way. But to take it to a child? That just further proved that OG Su Ran is small minded. and Su Han is very very pitiful.

[collapse]

about MC,
Spoiler

what I didn't like was how she treated the characters like "unreal", well yes, she transmigrated so it's understandable to be like "this is my favourite character second ML", "this little villain" etc, BUT even after so long, she still continues to call them like that. It just felt... unsympathetic? I dunno how to call it but I disliked the feeling I got reading "villain son".

[collapse]

And, lots of plot holes, but still decent.

Anyway, Su Han is sooooo adorable and deserved aaaaallll the love and affection and the best of everything! seriously, I felt he was too battered with homeworks :')

P.S. I MTLed the rest but I can't find the extras. Still, based on one review, I'm not sure if my heart is ready for the OG Su Han T.T <<less

Dropped at 25. Here is why:

This writing style in these novels bothers me so much. There is way too much explanation between dialogues. One character says something and you have to read 5 long paragraphs to reach the other character's line. Also, I can't understand why we have to know the detailed thoughts of the background characters. For example, neighbors gossiping about MC and her messy apartment, they're complaining alright but I don't wanna read a half chapter of hostile dialogues about it. It's just annoying.

As for the story, I'm... more>> pretty sure that MC doesn't let her son know she's reincarnated to her current body. That... disturbs me. He is a smart 14-year-old child and not a 4-year-old who can forget his mother's previous neglect or ab*se. Even one day she'll suddenly become a responsible affectionate mother, don't believe he'll love her completely. That's the realistic way, this novel's common sense is way broken for me to continue. <<less
