Honestly, premise is really good but execution wasn't up to my taste. Romance is progressing really slowly (one interaction every 30-50 chapters) and plot gets convulated too much. There are god level cultivators who watches bad guys destroy their sect and do nothing other than pretending to be in control and act sagely. Honestly, there are a lot of plot holes which made me stop reading.

Also, thanks a lot to the translators for translating but translation is really bad, especially first 75 chapters. Names, power levels, alliance names etc all... more>> change constantly which makes it incredibly confusing to read. After 75 chaps, it improves but still I wouldn't say it is good. Appreciate the effort went into translating it tho <<less

The MC and main love interest get along very well. The arcs are well written, and everything develops at a natural pace that shows the author's mastery over storytelling. Additionally, each chapter leaves you wanting the next, so there's never a moment where you're not waiting for something to happen.

I agree with the other reviews. This is a refreshing, pretty well-written murim novel with a male protagonist and non-harem romantic subplot, which makes it a rare find. Its what The Regressor and the Blind Saint could have been that novel did not end up being utter doo doo, but with a bit less romance. The MC is a smart guy and thinks things through. His shrewdness is entertaining, especially since his family is stereotypically the meatheads of the demon sect. Reading the FL's character growth and development also makes... more>> this a cut above the rest, and her personality makes me eager to see how she acts when she finally realizes she likes MC. The actual action, mystery, and strategy put this story at 4 stars imho, but a since FL romance in a murim novel is so rare that I'm giving it 5 stars in support.

From my online sleuthing, a person who read the raws to the mid-300s said no harem had developed, which makes me really hopeful. A rare find and definitely worth checking out. :) <<less

Having read about 40 chapters of this, I think I have a pretty good feel for the direction of the story. So far, I'd say it's off to a good start. I like the dynamic between the MC and FMC, and the plot itself isn't so brain dead (although I wouldn't call it amazing either). There are some fun side characters as well. I also appreciate that the MC is fairly transparent (in his own monologues) about his feeling for the FMC. Often in this kind of novel, the protagonist... more>> doesn't really reflect on his feelings or meaningfully express them in anyway, and it's up to the main heroine to do all the work narratively. So far that hasn't been a problem. The MC is fairly conscious of his budding feelings. The FMC is a pretty interesting character so far, with her being pretty confident, intelligent, and powerful (shes stronger than the MC at this point in the story). I do worry that the MC will leave her in the dust at some point in the story in terms of strength, I feel like that would be a boring development. I also worry about a harem of some kind being introduced into the story. I'm not THAT Worried given what's been written so far, but you never really know with webnovels lol. It's shocking how many stories advertised a monogamous romance in their title end up with a harem tag. These are just worries at the end of the day, and I look forward to having more chapters build up. <<less

A refreshing take for a murim novel for me. It's not like the other novels which only revolves around gaining power ups and then defeating powerful oppponents (rinse and repeat). This novel takes time to build up the lore while keeping the readers engaged in the story (no info bombs or boring arcs).

The characters' growth (especially the side characters) and the pacing of the story has a unique taste to it. It didn't completely break out of cliches but it was written in a way that makes it unique from... more>> other novels of its kind. The romance is like a slow burn here but reasonable. Like, gaining interest with each other first rather than being full-blown in-love. FMC and MC aren't dense and are honest with what they feel (once you read chapter 49).

Fights are decent (since it's just the beginning, it's focused more on the characters). Implements the mystery part and world building much better than other novels.

Other things I can say for this novel are: Villains aren't brain-dead and actually comes up with decent plans. MC doesn't do ass-pulls just to solve or escape from a scenario. FMC has her own personality, isn't bland (plot device) and actually written (or portrayed, at least) how significant she is in the upcoming arcs. She isn't a damsel in distress either, giving her title "young cult leader" more weight than other novels. Power levels aren't messy and are actually given importance (no ass pull against a higher level opponents). MC is a genius but the story respects power levels (no ass pull techniques that instantly kills higher levels). MC is not an omnipotent, all-knowing regressor either so it gives the mystery of the story more weight and makes it more interesting. MC's trait gives him an advantage against inexperienced enemies but he still has to train and work hard to make it effective against higher level opponents (so no 1-hit edgelord scenes). MC is calm, patient and smart that's appropriate for his metal age as regressor.

That's all I could say so far in how far I had read. We'll see if it continues this way further ahead in the novel. But the novel is in the right path (interesting, fun and worth the read) so far. <<less

Absolutely, love it! I like how the story progress especially the romance. It's pretty rare to have MC in murim world that is direct with his feelings for the fMC and only focus on her. I want them to interact more with each other but then I'm pretty satisfied with the pace. It's not forced or anything. Also, it's not a typical revenge type of thing like other novels. More like he just want to protect the MC and that he can do anything for her. I'm satisfied with romance,... more>> martial arts and writing! Oh boy, I'm hooked <<less

Well I am no litrature expert just a curious reader. From my perspective I Wii mention few points without spoiling any of the story.

1. It got romantic comedy. (Only romance is boring)

2. it's action packed.

... more>> 3. MC is not too op form start or gets stronger too quickly.

4. story pace is not too slow or too quick.

5. There r multiple F. MC. (don't worry about quarrel between f. MCs raking chapter space)

6. villians r unique & funny at same time.

7. the world building is good.

8. Lastly MC is not too innocent or revenge driven, stiff or clueless But he is ambitious, cunning, courageous, smart, hardworking & have outgoing personality....

That's all I could say from the chapters I have read. Plz correct if I have mistake or left something

I will highly suggest you to read it...🙏🏼🔥😁🌟 <<less

It was interesting,.. So far, this novel stands out as a thoughtful and engaging entry in the murim genre. The author has managed to balance character development, worldbuilding, and power scaling in a way that feels fresh and grounded. The MC and FMC have a dynamic relationship that grows realistically, the villains are competent, and the pacing keeps the reader invested without feeling rushed. There’s enough mystery and intrigue to keep you hooked, and the story respects its own internal logic, avoiding the usual tropes that can make these types... more>> of stories feel stale., , ,

Well, I did saw some potential for harem but hopefully it's not,.. <<less

Okay so a refreshing storyline with relative characters - check, complex world building- check, slowburn feelings & strength - check, plot twist- check... what could possibly go wrong? Oh yeah, slow releasing chapters.

So far, the story has been intriguing & hope it continues as so... would be back to add more if & when I complete the novel. ✌️

It is undoubtedly a novel! Ehem.

So, while the overall skeleton of the story seems more or less like a common wuxia/xianxia regression story, it does at least try to change things a little: the main character's past life seems to be a possible source of interesting plot points, as his previous life was not a ordinary one; and his relation with Cheon Yura, which is supposed to be one of the core elements of the novel.

On the second one, while their relation can certainly have some charm, with the introduction... more>> of another character, it does seem to threaten falling into some harem tropes, but, at the very least, Jin Yeomyung (the main character) does seem only interested in Cheon Yura.

Now, some other things on my mind, some spoilers from The Lazy Swordmaster (to a lesser degree) and The Terminally Ill Young Master of the Baek Clan (to a larger degree) :

Spoiler

Some of the elements of the novel make me reminisce about other ones. It was not invented by Lazy Swordmaster, but the idea of a character that was a hero always reminds me of it. Also reminds me of Children of the Holy Emperor. More than those two, though, the one I was most reminded about is Terminally Ill Young Master of the Baek Clan. The whole plot about the Heaven-Defying Society being individuals who wish to bring back the Age of Mythology, where monsters and gods reigned in the world just strongly reminds me of the latter novel, more specifically, the second half of it. It could be interesting! But until then, I will leave it at a 3. 3, 5 I guess?

Very engaging, keeps me hooked. The current rating of 4.1 is perfect for this work though, no more no less.

Because there are a few problem with how the author set up this story. The MC reincarnated multiple times, but the thing is you can't get a feel for it neither in his actions nor in his attitude. He doesn't seem any wiser or enlightened or carefree as a person. He gets shaken up by things which actually shouldn't bother him much. Mind you this is his second time (reincarnating+time traveling)... more>> in the same world and before that he has been through other reincarnation too in different worlds and he is from earth to boot.

But on the other hand if I ignore that part of the story setting, I can take this story a bit better. Nonetheless it's a decent time killer. <<less
