TL;DR: This book has a lot of potential, though there are some kinks to be worked out.

This novel, at least from the few chapters out now, seems to be in the horror/mystery genres. The main character travels to different planes/timelines and must solve mysteries to escape and return to the real world.

One important thing to note is that, though there are supernatural events present in the novel, the main character himself has no special powers. There also doesn't seem to be any form of system or other way to gain... more>> them. He relies on only his intelligence to make it through these life-threatening mysteries and find the truth.

Now, this is also where my main issue with this book comes from. The author does not seem to know how to write an intelligent character properly. The main character does make great deductions that the readers couldn't make... but that is because the author leaves out information.

For example, the main character sees a person wearing slippers and is suspicious of them because of that. However, the author doesn't even tell us that the person is wearing slippers. Only after the main character "solves" it are we told that detail.

It isn't the worst problem to have, but it does lower the enjoyment of reading a smart character and a mystery novel when we aren't able to solve the mysteries with the MC.

I would likely be harsher on this error, but the novel has just begun. The author will likely improve upon his writing in the future, and I do believe that there is a ton of potential here. The plot that I have read was very well thought out, though I can't predict if it will continue that way in the future.

The only other thing of note is that there are some problems with translation, but not to the extent that it affected my reading experience.

Great novel, the horror is good enough to remind me of my hunted house with a more interesting protagonist, and the translation quality is topnotch and consistent as well as expected of lonelytree translations.

One of the best chinese horror novel I have read. Its not prefect, l and there are some loose end but overall its a good story. Each of the different arc/doors is about 30-60 chapters so it quite detail.

The ending seems rush, and the final battle is quite confusing because you're introduced to multiple new characters that is some of the big shot behind the scenes, and most of them don't have names, just their appearance as character such as "the old man with beard", "the old woman" and such..

Its... more>> the kind of story that when you find out that it has 1700++ chapters, you feel its too long, but when you finished all the chapters, you find that its too short. It definitely need side stories to compliment to end. <<less
