In the tides of time, humankind has lost their position as the wisest of all creatures. The Steel City that suddenly rose in the center of the eastern lands and a man-made god, ‘Father,’ have replaced them. Mechs have taken over the world of this petri dish, Astrolabe, that the ancient Creators have left behind. One day, a young human s*ave named A-Ka finds a black-haired male on a beach of Desolate Sea… The world of Astrolabe is about to reboot, so what will become of the future of the humans, androids, and mechs?

The high ratings were well-deserved.

I don't really like mechs and the summary didn't catch my interest but thanks to the positive reviews I gave this story a try. It was a good change of pace from what I usually read. The plot is simple yet interesting and all the loose ends are tied nicely by the end. The world building has depth.

In short, it was a pleasant read.

Chicken Gege, you really translate some great stories - in an incredibly lovely way.

As some other reviewers mentioned, a very great world and story building on author's part... but Fei Tian is like that.

There was a great deal of character development, which I love, but I missed the couple development. An extra or two wouldn't have hurt.

This novel has good pacing/plot development, good world building, and interesting main and side characters for the number of chapters there are. It's clear the author put a lot of thought into creating the plot. Quality novel.

such a breathtaking story!! Really wonderful, no amount of words could describe it.

This story despite being short never felt rushed.

Such great worldbuilding and plotline really breathtaking.

I would highly recommend this story to everyone.

I don’t think it’s Feitian’s best but I still enjoyed it. Some of the decent transitions feel too abrupt for me, not as smooth as his other works. It definitely reads as an older work of his but that’s not a bad thing—it’s fun to see his growth, and this is a really interesting take on a “computer take over the world” The Matrix-esque story.

I agree with translator moon’s note that if you like the CP dynamic you should read Dinghai. The main characters A-Ka and Heishi definitely feel like... more>> precursors for Chen Xing and Xiang Shu, or maybe a sci-fi AU of them, which made me smile as I read. I also really liked some of the side characters—Shahuang and Huixiong felt like such anime characters, I could imagine them perfectly.

Pretty fast read and overall I’m glad I read it. <<less
