Xiang Ye (Ah Ye) and Charles have the fated arrangement of master and servant. In the depths of darkness, Ah Ye scooped up Charles – a vampire butler. Possessing a fervid passion for service, Charles single-mindedly attends to the secretive young master Ah Ye – regardless of his ferocious appetite, abhorrent taste in clothing, and relationship failings – for the master is always right.

On the other hand, in the chaotic era of scientifically enhanced humans, powerful heroes become the protectors of normal citizens, going where evil needs subduing. This young master may be secretive, but he is our hero.

It is unusual how an author such as Yu Wo can write a really good novel such as The Legend of the Sun Knight, and a novel that was really good for the first few volumes such as Half Prince write such lackluster novels such as No Hero and its predecessor Eclipse Hunter. The main character is interesting enough, he is a child who was made into a android designed to kill. The premise is interesting enough however the novel falls flat when the entire supporting cast is uninteresting and... more>> flat. Reading through this and you will see every character in the novel remain static, none of them are dynamic is any way. Its hard to enjoy a lifeless novel. <<less

Ah... the cons of reading from an unreliable first person POV. The reader will never find out how cool and OP our seemingly NPC vampire butler is if he himself doesn't think so!

Charles Endelis is not a normal non-human off the bat. In fact, there is none as unique as him, as powerful as him, or as unfailingly kind as him... Besides maybe his new master, the unique, powerful, and kind Young Master, Ah Ye.

To read No Hero and understand the complexity of our oblivious MC who assumes himself to... more>> be a wallflower, the reader must look outward and see the waves Charles causes in those around him. You'll find no one experiences more impact from Charles' actions than the deuteragonist Young Master.

Ah Ye influences Charles in equal measure. It's a slow burn kind of transformation lasting nine volumes. To a young adult (in vampire terms) vampire granted with basically the entirety of "eternity", this change is sudden but welcome.

This friendship story is about a protagonist and his Young Master who don't see themselves as heroes.

A vampire cannot be heroic.

A demon cannot be saved.

Their paths are aligned in darkness.

However, if one could say to the other about fate, maybe each would say:

"You do not have to walk this road alone."

Also, you get rocket launchers, human sized frozen beetles, a married Priest with an adult son, and marketplace haggling. The comedy has loads of funny times among the tragic pasts. Why does everyone want in on our MC's halo?! Ah Ye, protect your family/household member!! Soon everyone will realize what a perfect butler *cough* husband material *cough* Charles is!

I absolutely adore this novel. I don't get why some people would rated it so low.. Sigh

And it is not similar to black butler (I really don't see a shred of similarities anywhere!)

I love the butler, he is just so cute! A vampire butler hehe where would you ever find that *smirk*

... more>> I love his monologues (and the letters to his late father lol), I like reading from his pov.

And ahem a slight spoiler alert *and how he haggles with the groccerers to give him freebies and discounts using his 'family members'!*

the sun emperor who is super overprotective and a bro con.... Turns out the young master is one of the 4 heros protecting the city... but does the city need their protection?

Despite being a vampire and the MC, the MC doesnt like violence and being in the front lines so he along with us get to chear the young master and everyone else from a (safe) dinstance! <<less

The author introduced us to the other side of the heroes, in the butler's pov. The main character is a vampire butler (you read it correctly) who was looking for employment after losing his job named Charles Endelis. Through a meeting, he became a butler of a very interesting young master. The background of the butler and the young master is pretty unique that you can't help but guess with the scattered info along the story. There are comedy, action, and slice-of-life in this novel. like this one. As well as the eclipse hunter (you don’t really need to read it, or actually I read no hero first, still makes sense) No hero is very much like Alfred and Batman, I’m a huge fan of Alfred so Charles character is very pleasing to my eyes. Lots of humor, really enjoyable, not too “cliff hangy “ BUT personally I read it only when the whole volume is completely translated- otherwise one is left with a very “hungry for more” feeling.
