At first, I didn't understand. How can Kikel defeat the cold? He doesn't seem to be the sharpest tool in the shed, and he's not all that skilled or experienced either...

Then I witnessed Kikel's brilliance, then I knew. Of course Kikel could kill the cold, if not him then who else?

Anyways, I'm giving this story 5 stars for Kikel, best character in the whole novel.

And the character before the MC possessed is not a POS but just a tragic character, no matter how much the story say she was seen as a POS by everyone including the MC.

The character shown in the cover image as of writing this review is not the MC, but probably the 'hero' of the story the MC is possessed into. High possibility a huge importance to the story in the future but not much to talk about in the first 15 chapters. Just read the first chapter and see what the MC looked like, which is not a big deal but good that I have an image of the MC in my head.

The novel piqued my interest greatly and will continue reading it.

Interesting stuff

Pretty dark with all shitty ass people MC has met, though there are some good ones. I’m enjoying it so far, I like how even though MC took over Brunhilde’s body, she didn’t get any memories or techniques. Her battle style is based on Brunhilde’s instinct and experience.

One thing I don’t understand begins with the plot twist.

Brunhilde is one of the 3 heroine who betrayed the tr*sh hero (before isekai protag takes his body) at the beginning to join another hero. Mc’s memories of the book says Brunhilde also joined the another hero and ended up brainwashed and a s*x s*ave. So when MC took over Brunhilde’s body, they ran away. Plot twist, og plot is isekai protag takes tr*sh hero’s body. But Butterfly effect, tr*sh hero finds out that his crush, Brunhilde didn’t go to other hero and makes a wish to go back in time. Resulting not isekai protag taking tr*sh hero’s body. What does this mean? Did MC coincidentally isekai into Brunhilde around the time tr*sh hero made the wish? Or did only tr*sh hero’s body go back in time?

Edit with a little more detail after more chapters came out:

Like I wrote originally this novel definitely has a lot of promise. I feel like way too many of these "I need to avoid the original story" novels immediate mess up their premise and have the MC get involved in the story for dumb/contrived reasons that are ultimately just super frustrating and make me hate the MC. Alternatively, I've also seen several that go too far in the other direction and have the original story completely vanish and have zero... more>> relevance which while not as bad as the alternative, makes the inclusion of the original story premise kind of useless.

This novel walks a line between the two extremes that I enjoy a lot, the MC is very well written and makes a good effort to avoid the original story, and foundation has been layed to show how the MC will get involved again in the future but is done in a good way that seems like it's not the MC messing up or some random contrivance that will make them involved again but a specific phenomenon.

As for the rest of the novel's aspects, the action is engaging and well written, the translation is top notch, and there are regular updates. Just like my original review, as of now my biggest complaint is that there aren't more chapters out!

I won't lie, the first 10 chapters or so were fairly boring - the MC is an interesting character but no motivations or greater plan or plot were really revealed. After reading chapter 14, some really awesome twists were shown that have reignited my interest and really set the story in motion - I think I'll be sticking around for a while! If the prior 13 chapters set up the story and background, chapter 14 is when the story really starts.

Its quite a bit to read, but I recommend reading... more>> at least until chapter 14 so you can see the twist, and then decide whether you want to keep reading or not. This seems like the type of story that will keep ramping up in excitement as it goes on, with a slower start. I do hope the pacing keeps up and we don't fall into a lull like the first 10 chapters.

The translation is high quality, I don't think I've seen any mistakes in what I've read for now. A lot of chapters are also being released (6 / week), so it is a great time to join in! It's also nice because the site has an active comment section, and its easy to comment yourself - its honestly very refreshing to have actual discussion on a novel. <<less

Kachak and the twist are my favorite parts so far. Fun story: regular guy isekais into a shitty fantasy world that he read about which is populated by some decent people, but mostly not, so the MC gets a crash course in a lot of violence and justified homicide. The cast is a little absurd, but they're understandable as people. I'm looking forward to the reunion.

edit now that I've read up through ch58: taking it down a star because the FL is kind of... she's def a native to the... more>> sh*t world this is set in. Like, she draws the line at s*xual assault, but she still assaults the MC and is incredibly desperate/thirsty. I would say 'in love' but the FL fell 'in love' with the OG!Brunhilde and hasn't really cottoned on that MC is very much not her. idk I'm just not vibing with the FL. I miss Kachak. <<less

It's a novel take (for me, at least) on doom avoidance type stories; as pointed out in other reviews there's a welcome twist not too far in. In my opinion the author has managed to strike a difficult balance between the world being decidedly unfriendly towards the MC while preventing the story's tone from becoming outright oppressive. The characters we've been introduced to thus far all behave reasonably for what we know of them, though to be certain some of them are a bit touched. I was honestly questioning the comedy tag at the start but later on the author starts to let slip that they have opinions about certain classic RPG archetypes. The rant probably overstays its welcome? It's still understandable in the given context. If I somehow managed to share a table with them I'd be tempted to play a monk/thief just to see what kind of apoplexy it would cause. <<less

I intently just to save the chapters up, but unfortunately it turns out I didn't have any motivation to continue this. Mostly, because it because Friede. If you read it, you could see my comments there. Im truly enjoy this story. But slowly I hate friede. Thx. I really curious how it went, but thx. It's enough. Good novel.
