Please use proper spacing and paragraphs. After disappearing for three months, the just-turned-adult Su Yi was diagnosed with post-war stress disorder. Only eats vacuum-sealed food? Afraid of being poisoned….. Sleeps with half-open eyes and a knife in hand? Afraid of being attacked by assassins…. Looks at a pretty girl once? Afraid that looking twice will make him explode….
Childhood friend: “How did you get so good at fighting now?”
Mother: “I feel like my son just came back from Syria.”
Classmate: “I don’t dare say anything. Last week he pulled a knife because his dormmate was snoring.”
What was a moment for them, was ten years for me.
A ten-year journey through the wasteland changes a person in many ways—character, personality, strength—even to the point of being unable to integrate back into modern society. That kind of instinct feels lonely. No one can understand.
Until one day, Su Yi passed by a convenience store, and a girl—who also came from the wasteland—burst in and shouted at him:
“I’m willing to launch a nuclear bomb and die with the enemy!”
“Lord of Sequence Two, sir! Soldier Lorrie, codename 748923, reporting in!”
Emotionless soldiers, spreading radiation, powers that drive you crazier the more you use them, unpredictable enemies, divine relics that control time but require sacrificing your whole family.
Su Yi hadn’t changed, but the world had.
Facing everything, he had no choice but to take up arms again:
“Before the wasteland came, you called me crazy. I didn’t argue. After the wasteland came, what do you call me now?”
