Kim Dokja does not consider himself the protagonist of his own life. Befitting the name his parents gave him, he is a solitary person whose sole hobby is reading web novels. For over a decade, he has lived vicariously through Yu Junghyeok, the main character of the web novel Three Ways to Survive the Apocalypse (TWSA).

Through Junghyeok, Dokja has experienced secondhand the trials of repeatedly regressing in time, in search of an end to life-threatening “scenarios” that force people to act out narratives for the amusement of god-like “Constellations.”

After reading 3,149 chapters—long after all other readers lost interest—Dokja finally resigns himself to the story ending. However, he receives an enigmatic message from the author, stating that the story will soon be monetized, before his surroundings suddenly go dark.

He swiftly realizes that fiction has become reality and he is now living through TWSA. Although he is the singular omniscient reader of the events yet to come, his success in the scenarios is not guaranteed—but perhaps his advantage will empower him to step into the protagonist role that never suited him before.

My absolute favorite light novel of all time. Literary masterpiece. Dynamic, rounded characters. Epic saga. Quality comedy and fantastic references. Highly insightful and cathartic to read. An absolute jewel of an ending. Please read it from cover to cover and then read the manhua on webtoons too to support this epic duo of authors.

This is hella long drive, so many twist and unpredictable factor in story. I really get ho*kup with Kim Dokja/Our MC journey to find the truth.

Come on this is very original story. The author doing good job make this novel unpredictable.

Honestly one of the my favorite novel of all time! I started reading it and I couldn't stop!

I love the character and the story development. The characters have layers and the relationships they develop across the journey are all that much more real. They are interesting, complex and flawed!

BTW, in this novel Women are actually Women and not one-dimensional characters.

i love this novel, and I cried so many times because of it, but there's just one small complaint I have.

it's extremely long.

i lost interest in the novel a few times because of its never-ending nature, and only persisted because I was too curious about its ending and wanted to be part of the fandom without getting spoiled.

overall, it was an amazing experience. The plot was interesting, the MC was'nt the typical saint-like protagonist that would forgive any wrong and instead was a cool-headed and logical person, the characters were... more>> quite likable, and everything in the novel had its own purpose. It all tied up together at the end quite nicely.

would I read this novel again? Probably not. But I would definitely recommend people to at least try having a go at this story, because it was quite a good experience. <<less

It's a pretty high quality story, the plot is pretty damn confusing as it doesn't exactly follow some linear progression but its enjoyable. I guess the way the plot is would be part of what makes it so interesting.

Character progression does exist in this book but mostly its done in somewhat of a different way from the usual, I don't want to spoil too much but basically there are characters that before have been certain way but now our MC is working hard to change them. I guess it would... more>> be little bit of a spoiler if I were to talk about different timelines. Still though, not every character is like that. There are normal ones as well.

The world in this book could be construed to be both big and small. Most of the immediate situations in the beginning (and some through out the book) would happen in cities which are basically lifted from our real world such as Seoul or Tokyo. Obviously not much world building other than milieu creation would be needed in those situation. After that would be the fantasy counterparts which are "worlds" in their own right but are made to fit the story narrative in a way that there's really never any travel times or anything like that which makes me slightly question their sizes and things like that. So while there is definite and good world building its not on a crazy level. At least there are some rather imaginative descriptions even though its never really at a level that would awe the reader.

If I have to name something negative it would be that sometimes you really have to be very through in reading this and actually think/comprehend what are the effects and consequences that a characters or groups actions have. Because this author (a pair if I'm not mistaken?) has somewhat of a tendency to not really flat out describe those things. Lack of understanding could lead to missing some very, very crucial information- even at the level of understanding some of the main antagonists.

TL;DR Its rather good book. Definitely more thought out and some out there. 4/5 Is fair I think but it could only go higher from there.

I cried like a little bit*h multiple times throughout this story. 10/10

You really do need to read all chapters because it all works together SO WELL but you wouldn’t know that if you stop too soon. Genuinely has such a good pay off if you stick with it but goddam do they make it difficult for you to do that. The changing translation is a bit rough to get used to so late in the story, but it’s so worth it that all I can say is just keep going... more>> it’s not THAT bad you’ll get used to it pls don’t stop there. The name changes are worth the improved quality of translation.

Genuinely cannot praise this story enough. All the characters are so well rounded and you feel so strongly for them that it’s insane. And Kim Dokja... ily so much but you bring me so much pain. Great protagonist.

Give it a try, if you can stick it out through all 500+ chapters it really will be worth it. <<less

Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint was an unforgettable ride.

From picking up the first chapter, all the way to the last, I couldn't stop reading.

The ending was satisfying, I really can't complain about it either. There may be a few plot holes, but everything felt nicely wrapped up by the end of it.

This was really a great ride, I'd recommend reading it entirely to truly enjoy the full experience.

At first, I thought, there were many plot holes in this novel. The characters are great, but the plot armor is really thick until the end. All of these are addressed and explained in the ending and you can only truly understand the novel after 35 chapters of the epilogue. If you can maintain interest in this long journey, I believe the end is great. If you cannot, I suggest you still give it a go.

The story started a bit slow and there was a ramp-up in the middle until... more>> it gets complicated and hard to breathe, but the end would leave you empty inside. Overall, it's a good story with some plot holes that are explained with one (1) reason (which the authors did take advantage of in a good way, but to some, it might be too much) .

In my opinion, this could be seen as a take on reader-writer-character relationship/study, or a story of a found family trying to survive, or a love story. It's pretty versatile. I'd still rate it 5/5 despite my complaints. <<less

It's a super story! The start is the best and you can just read it binhe until ep 73. I stopped here cause it felt boring at that chapter. I will continue after reading another novel.

🤗 Got to continue the novel and I really loved it. For now I read until 356 and will resume after a short rest.

I stumbled onto this novel when looking for something similar to `Solo Leveling, ` It’s similar in a sense that there’s a concept of “leveling” up or gaining a “skill.” The gaming aspect is similar. The MC are totally different tho. Dokja (the MC of Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint) is more light hearted and easy going than the MC of Solo Leveling, which makes ORV more humorous at times than SL.

I stopped temporarily at c.279 because it was getting a bit harder to read. There were some confusing timeline and plot... more>> points. They mystery of it all isn’t a engaging as in the earlier chapters.

I’d recommend this novel if you have a lot of time to burn. It’s not the easiest read, but it’s complex enough to keep you going for a couple of days of binging. <<less

This review might not be that

reliable as I'm yet on the gigantomachia arc, but as far as I read, the novel is absolutely incredible. I wouldn't dare say is perfect, but that's what make this history so good. For now I'll apologize for my english, but I hope this will help like orv even a bit more.

Thus novel really uses of some cliche troupes, like system code and "another world", even if in this case he's still in his own world, but there are clearly many different things.

I admit that... more>> action novel is not my cup of tea, but as long as the history can make me fell a deep connection with the character I'll consider it incredible, so, thinking in this line, I'll start by talking about them. It might have some things that people consider spoilers, so read on your own accord.

Characters:

    • Starting by our MC, Kim Dokja
He might be a little aloof and... cold, he is very calculative

since the start of the novel, so sometimes it might be quite hard to like him, but this is one of his good point, I dare to say. He is not as cold blooded as the Yoo Jonghyuk bastard, actually he cares so much about the others that it hurts to see him sacrifice himself so much. He tries to evolve every character, and at the beginning it seens to be for his own sake, but at the history unfolds you can see that it is so that no one die even without him by their side.

At the same time Dokja has many bad points, more even than Jonghyuk, one of them is his suicidal plans. He doesn't clarify anything to anyone so it leave his companions even more on the edge.

Jonghyuk, being his companion of life and death is the one who suffers the most, specially when he returns from the 1800th universe, you can see how deeply he is attached to Dokja, and how much he fears to lose him again at the start of gigantomachia arc.

As many people said on their reviews, he is quite detached, he see everything like is just a novel, and refuses to like someone more than he "could" (failing miserably), but sometimes he wonders if he should really be there or if the others would really like to see the end with him as part of the group. For me it was really heartbreaking and, honestly, I cry each time that he drown himself in these thoughts. On the counterside his good point is his determination and good mental stability.

    • Now for Yoo Jonghyuk.
On the first 50 chapters or so I hated him so much it hurts, but he is a character that is quite easy to like, even when there is that growing tension between him and Dokja, you can see that they really like each other, even if our MC doesn't really talk about anything with him, there is no need, they understand what they should understand and ignore what there is not needed. He is pretty much a tsundere. He acts cold and is a ruthless bastard, he throw himself at things even more dangerous than Dokja could even imagine, but at the end, he only wishes to see the good end that the MC relentlessly talks about, even when he doesn't trust half of his words.

If Dokja have a strong mentality, Jonghyuk is a complete wreck, and the novel always explain about it, but on the other hand, his brute force is one of a monsters. Let's say they complement each other, they need the stability that they give each other, especially Jinghyuk, whose mind is completely broken. They have this bromance tension between them and some constellations (*cough*Uriel*cough) even ship them... for me the romance in novels is unnecessary, but really, their relationship is cute.

    • Going for my favorite female character, Heewon.
Dokja saved her by chance, but she is a character so strong and important that I think if she wasn't there, the novel wouldn't be complete. She is Dokja "sword", and to be honest I think she suffered so

much, what make her bond with Dokja even stronger. She goes to such lengths for her companions sake that it could even be considered a sacrifice.

She is s*upidly strong, not more than the protagonist, but her power is like a kind of cheat code, she is considerably mature and know what decision to make, this is... with the exception of when those decisions involve Kim Dokja and his suicidal plans. She is a character with clear objetives and great justice view. She would pretty much fill my needs for a FL role, what unfortunately she isn't.

    • Han Sooyoung, the plagiarist.
If I'm talking about the characters that gave me the most impressions she couldn't be forgotten. However if you want to read this without receiving a major spoiler I would recommend you to have read at least until the end of the kings war at the stations.

Let's start with the focus point, she is the plagiarist, so... she obviously know a lot about the world they are, and so she is as skeptical as Dokja, however she isn't as "good" as he is (let's be honest, neither of them are saints), she is also the First Apostle, so obviously when the party doesn't have a favorable opinion of her, but she stills help the MC along the history, and honestly, I love her. No matter how much they hate her, and how much she hates them (or acts like she hate) she still help them with all her mighty.

The saddest thing about her is the memory loss due to the avatars, which on the start of the arc after of the 73rd demon realm, "her" story will be introduced in a very subtle way, even if you'll have to think too much about it to really understand what happened. Honestly, both Han Sooyoung are very likeable, but the "original" is the only one who would really make the party complete the way it is.

    • Lee Hyunsung and the childs
Sadly I won't say much about them, but Hyunsung, The Steel Sword is... very dependent on Dokja. He knows how to do the things on his own, but he values Dokja's life much more than his, and so the one who receive the greatest impact of Dokja every actions is Hyunsung. He really cares about everyone and is like a huge, huggable bear. A really cute character, one that is impossible to hate. I would do a deep insight, but really, he is a character that is valuable to read about, his growth is very heartwarming, as it depend on the ones he protects.

The childrens are obviously attached to Dokja, as he would be like an adoptive parent to them, especially to Yoosung. They fight for his attention and is very cute. Gilyoung is part of the novel since the start and so we see his hardships first hand, is clear how he would do almost anything that benefits Dokja, even if this involve assassination (clearly stated at the changmuro arc), sometimes is hard to see him as a child, as his maturity is really great, but the way he clings onto Dokja and fights Yoosung is really cute. Yoosung too is quite a mature character, especially since she

accept so easily that she is one of the disasters and that one of the party members might kill her.

Under certain circumstances she is the one who understand our MC the most, and so she is really in synch with him, on that point she beats even the protagonist. She suffers a little more than others characters under Dokja "training", but it makes her a really strong ally, and even so their relationship is really cute and fluffy.

I'd like to talk more about other characters, including the constellations, but... it would drag on for too long. So a resume. Yoo Sangah is your typical female lead, strong, beautiful and gentle, yet somehow harsh, especially with Sooyoung, sacrifice herself as much as Kim Dokja, not my favorite type of female lead, but yeah. The constellations are quite ambiguous, apart from Uriel, the korean constellations and the first group that likes Dokja's party, or they are neutral a**holes, or complete a**holes. Some of the big nebulaes are a problem for the party and really self centred, what make hating them really easy, most of the time their incarnations are equally infuriating (Anna Croft, for an example). Obviously there are some constellations that you can't really like or hate, like the oh-so-mysterious Secretive Plotter, so I recommend you to observe carefully each if them, they're quite interesting. By the way, is quite easy to get attached to Bihyung, he might be a major problem at the beginning, but you can see how much he likes the party.

Kim Namwoon is a chunni character and so, he's quite uncontrollable, even if he died at the very start of the novel, he still plays a big role, I won't talk much about it, bur damn, he's cute. He's like a excitable and happy dog, if things turn out to be interesting or dangerous he will be there. Very much a free spirit, that Kim Dokja knows how to tame.

    • For the Plot.
Well, let's be honest, there are many settings and

many

arcs, so is almost impossible to understand everything, hopefully most of this will be answered by the end of the novel. If you read only the start of the novel you might think that the story is completely smooth and everything goes his way, but well, he deviated from the original novel course, so after some time he will experience some real good hardships, even when the ones who suffer the most are his party, well well. If you read at least a bit of the novel you know that this crazy MC would go to the end of the universe only to achieve his main goal, creating the perfect ending, and that's what cause the more problem to him.

He tries to be skeptical, but at the same time he's is to harsh on his judgment, he gives his own life for anything, if that means he will get what he wants. He pretty much know everything, but by knowing that he gets even more scared of failing and so he enters in a repetitive circle of doing everything without his party consent. Even if I hate that, I understand what he wants, what if he told everything to the others? There would be a greatest problem. Someone else would be able to obtain all the information he have, be it a constellation, a dokkaebi of even other, not so dependable, incarnation.

And with this, we go to another topic. He holds all the information that Jonghyuk would aquire in almost 2000 regressions, but... so what? He doesn't know a thing about his own timeline, after all he wrecked everything.

At the 73rd Demon Realm arc there are many new settings introduced, one of them is the story. As he is a constellation now coins aren't a problem anymore, but for a constellation to be stronger they need stories. These would be like his achievement, like the one he gained when he punched Paul 124 time or when he defeated the outer god.

But more importantly than that, is the fact that after some time the novel was updated, confirming that he deviated the story from its original way, the problem was, even if Jonghyuk avanced more in less returns, his mind was completely broken, meaning he was even more of a sunfish. The desesperation of the MC to achieve his perfect ending grew even more after that.

Let's go to the sponsor and star stream settings. You'll most definitely hate those most of the times. Constellations, to the surprise (and relief) of most aren't completely perfect, and, unless they receive help of the star stream itself their movements are quite restricted at the "human" realm because of the probability. They can do some petty tricks like demanding for some s*upidly hard side quest, but nothing more to avoid the probability storms. Even so, if a incarnation has a real good sponsor they will clearly be more powerful than most, having good stigma, more coins and all, but the problem rise when this bond is like a contract, so... seeing on this side, Dokja horror for having a sponsor is really reasonable.

The world, being based on a novel that has over 3000 chapters is clearly long and complicated. Like, hell, the author wrote all those chapter and there are still things that he didn't really explain, as Kim Dokja says. Not even the author know the full potential of all the settings, neither do the MC. In all honesty, for me 550 chapters doesn't seen to be sufficient to cover everything, but even so, the novel unfolds slowly, giving the readers the best amount of mystery. It has the perfect blend between action and drama. Every character has its depths, even those whose we'll hate with all our might, and they grow so perfectly amidst the chaos of the world.

I might say, this is truly the best novel that I've ever read. Many might consider it a blend of many cliche troupe, but even so, none of the others I read gave me this many chances to enter in synch with the character.

Every time they suffered I felt myself trying not to cry, because they all have such deep emotions that they fell truly realistic. This is the type of novel where you have to put all your heart and mind, all while having patience with the slow burn plot.

I'll probably will edit it to add more things when I finish reading it.

+ One of the things that makes me like the most this novel, even when I hate cliffhangers and unnecessary suffering is the MC narrative. During all the story he will throw some comments like how much Jonghyuk is a jerk or things like that, like... you usually wouldn't expect this, because,

hey, we are beating the sh*t outta this guy, but f*ck, I wish to never be Jonghyuk enemy.

I'd just say read it till the conversation on top of the theatre. It's a bit of an investment but it's not all that far in and you should find out if you like it or hate it. Early on it's pretty weak until our MC starts bouncing off his counterpart. It's still pretty early for that at the theatre, but I can't just say read like half the novel to see if you like it. Be warned, the TL switches in the latter half and you need to pay... more>> attention to remember names which honestly delayed me the first time I read this. They still do a great job, but I personally prefer the earlier TL. <<less

I’ll be honest, I don’t remember the whole content except for the ending and the feelings it gave me.

I was and are the same as Kim Dokja. I was a reader, still am a reader.

I resonated with his feelings, this story’s feelings. The messages, there’s tons of it in there, I barely remember until I try to pick it up once more and read through it all. But I do remember the message that stories are not just stories. These stories are worlds being created, a different world than ours.... more>> And us readers’ imaginations keeps to stories moving. But what if a story is forgotten? What if no one knows that one particular story, no one remembers that one story? It disappears, crumbles, destroyed maybe.

Somehow I can’t help thinking that maybe the author was one of those people that Yoo Jonghyuk chose to write Kim Dokja’s story. And somehow I wish that my brief imagination of what Han Sooyoung saw behind that door became true for them.

This story is about a reader named Kim Dokja. And I read his story and imagined an ending where he was not alone. I hope it helped Kim Dokja’s Company and it’s world. <<less

Binge-read through and blasted through the novel. Initially got hooked because I found the webtoon interesting. I think the beginning of the novel is a little bit laggy in the sense whereby perhaps its hard to understand the system and also the many different characters being introduced.

The webtoon makes this a lot easier for you to kind of get a feel for what's going on. After ~c31 of the webtoon which was a bit of a cliffhanger, I think more information really comes through the web novel. I really enjoyed... more>> this novel, the characters are all likable and because of the variation in the characters, it really helps to make them all shine in different places and times.

The setting could be hard to understand with all the different references to obscure stories and cultural references, but it makes the setting really rich. All in all, I loved the conclusion, the characters, and the whole journey to get to the end of the novel with all the characters.

I think the star system is really fun with the commentary of the constellations too! <<less

I'd whole heartedly rate this novel 4.9-5 stars... though I may be biased because of the ending. It is a bit of a long read (?)

i know there were parts (around 460) where the battles got a bit repetitive but if you go through that it gets better, I promise you won't regret it.

I really liked the characters, the world building, the plot and deep themes even If there were a few ridiculous moments that didn't make sense...

Let me start by saying I was heavily into this novel's fandom for awhile, so the review might be biased. Anyways, I actually came from the webtoon (which is pretty great quality), and was immediately taken by the novel. Reading so far into it now, I can say that the earlier arcs are my favourite. Everything was so nicely paced and the set of characters all worked.

Plot: It was good. I'm not so sure about uniqueness because I havent read many genre novels at the time, but the heavy emphasis... more>> on the 'system' and constellations was nice. The direction was refreshing even though its still the same underdog tale. However, as the chapters piled on it kept getting harder and harder to read. I dunno when it got a bit too repetitive and contrived,

The overarching plot is pretty interesting though, its not really explained or explained at all until the later chapters. Its just at that point I can't help but feel like the smaller arcs were just filler and had a ton of deus ex machina moments.

Characters: This is where I lean a bit. I just love the MC. I have a thing for the Holy Saint type characters and KDJ is like, perfect in my eyes.

I would say maybe like 5 of the main cast get fleshed out, while the rest are still cool so its fine if you don't really care.

Theres like a ton of leeway for the novel settings as you go on and some stuff just become secondary

(eg coins, items etc.) but if you're still trudging on at that point, you probably don't care, I didn't. Other stuff is like the mechanics of the "stories" they collected. Like do you 'bleed' out? Its all very vague ch250 onwards

All said and done, it was pretty good compared to others of the same genre. Its not really a 'leveling-up' novel cuz MC is pretty OP from the get-go and the story is way more plot-oriented without the messy leveling side-arcs. The novel holds a special place in my heart just from the sheer amount of time I invested it so its 4/5. I actually tried tocf and sclasses after this but those were so? Different to this idk why they're always grouped together lol. Phew anyways, I'm still keeping up with the webtoon and I hope it goes on for a long long time. <<less

This my first review in this site, and I just wanted to share a piece of my opinion about this story.

The story at the beginning was good. The concept was unique and there were a some cliches mixed in. We, as the reader, are exploring this new world in the eyes of our main character, and how he resists and survive throughout the seemingly everlasting scenarios. I must admit, I was enjoying myself with our mc's wit and style in solving and overcoming these scenarios, as well meeting new members... more>> and characters along the way. Not only did I grow to like the survivors (aka incarnations) around the MC, but as well as the constellations that were watching over their sufferings. It's their little quirky personalities that really helps you to like them. Though, I wished there was more development in some of the characters... Don't get me wrong. the characters, well at least most of them, have some sort of development, but the thing I seek is the personal interactions with our MC that helps make them feel alive and special... though I guess this is our mc's fault for being too, uh, well you'll see if you read it. Don't panic, the MC isn't some lone ranger marching the story without a hint of emotion. The MC is actually written neatly but ambiguous as well for the ending's interpretation.

If you decide to read this story, don't ever give up. It might get boring sometimes, and you might want to quit half way through with all the chapters and what not. But I implore you to keep pushing forward, to not regress, for you should finish this story with this life, and see its ending in this world.

I promise you that you'll love certain characters while hate others, and you'll question certain parts of the story that seemed confusing or even plot holish. But if you keep pushing forward into this story's conclusion, its ending... You'll start to figure things out for you are one smart cookie what it means to be a reader like the MC, like me, and to all those who like reading stories online.

Sidenote: I wish there was some romance development for the MC but after reading the ending it was for the best that there wasn't a conclusive answer for this, since we all love that idiotic MC. <<less
