This story starts off fine, gets better as it progresses and is fantastic in the Extras. What I love the most about this story it the MC-MC is very relatable:He doesn't have super strong principles of right and wrong, and doesn't put down hard line when it comes to his principles. Plus it is more compatible with th ML than if they were in the same profession.-He's competent:MC wasn't a 30year old for nothing in his first life. He takes the initiative when he's made a decision and really pulls his own weight financially and emotionally. I've got the very strong impression that he would have succeeded very well on his own even without the MLThe, ML is, well, like an ML:He's borderline a sociopath. Super competent and rich. Untrusting of others but with an irresistible charm and handsomeness. Only showing his true vulnerable and emotional side to the MC in a kind of irrational manner. (Since there is a tiny supernatural element, it's ok).-What makes this ML different:is that he played the White Lotus card but is actually black bellied. Meaning he pretends to be innocent, pure and well intentioned, luring people unwittingly into his schemes until he's swallowed them whole and they end up devastated.-But with MC he's a big doggy: This is actually the side we se most of the time, the scheming side just expresses itself in the background or how he tries to hide things from MC. His entire world seems to revolve around the MC and he is supper, emotionally dependent. SIde charachters: Although we don't see much of them because they lead their own lives, they are all rather likeable and also seem well developed and distinct. Villains i.e. ML's family:They're absolutely nuts. All of them are a bunch of abnormal people belong on to their own domain of abnormality. I suppose kudos is due for the author to have created such a bunch of villain that are all villainous because of different character flaws combined with their upbringing. Even though the MC feels a bit sorry for them after M's inevitable counterattack the Author is obviously biased against them. Giving them, predictably, the most miserable of fates. The BL: IT's pretty Sweet that everyone is so chill about it. MC also seems to have a very healthy relationship with ML, putting down boundaries when it's called far and relenting when it's not as well as combing out the communication issues. It's one of the elements that make the later part of this story so much better than the beginning. One thing I don't get, though it's a common issue with this genre is: Why is it so obvious that MC is the bottom?...?To summaries, this is a pritty average sweet BL story, though if you persist you'l find that it is half a cut above the rest. Finally, but most importably, if you feel you want to drop this story. Jump to the last side story (or just the side stories, they are all pretty good). It is absolutely worth your time, in fact, it is so good that if it were it's own short story, it would have better ratings than the actual story:To summaries. MC seemingly goes back to his old world but has a chance to Save ML. However, this ML is much more jaded, having struggled through hardship on his own for decades, never finding anyone he can fully trust. MC is conflicted because, he recognises this ML as his lover yet he is very different and missis the ML in the other world desperately while still feeling it is his duty to help out the older, jaded ML.-Why the side story so good: MC's relatable character has a layer of conflict added on to it, leading him to become more of a complex person. ML is a lot more like a person, although he still feels and odd sort of almost supernatural attraction to MC it is not all consuming, he is like an old lone wolf who is suddenly confronted by love. Although it calls to his frozen heart, his maturity stops him from leaping onto it with gusto. This combines into a complex dynamic and an open ending. Really, sublime! <<less

An insta-love story full of fluff. Decent translation with some mistakes and dodgy grammar.

MC is a total cutie pie. ML is aloof to others but a loyal dog to MC. Totally devoted. ML’s family is full of cliches with a s*um father, b**ch stepmother and bas***d siblings. Nothing new. Thankfully, most of the story is sweet. Face slapping and revenge is quick and the story moves on.

I like the way the story ties up both lifetimes for our couple. ML’s best friend was a sweetheart. I wish he was fleshed... more>> out more. The story is fairy tale like. The MC is already a renowned photographer by the time he graduates. In short, don’t expect logic.

Cliche one dimensional villains and characters. It’s a cavity inducing read.

Childish!White-lotus!ML x Sarcastic!Tsundere!MC

A very unique combo!

What made this story stand out (amongst a gazillion other BL)...

  • There's no pressuring into a relationship; the MC and ML enter into one naturally from being friends.
  • There's a lot of tension and mutual cluelessness because BOTH protagonists did not realize that they were falling for each other at first. It's very cute and sweet.
  • The entire premise is super unique: the transmigrator is the MC and he has no idea why he transmigrated, but somehow ends up being the ML's best friend and support.
For the readers... more>> who criticized the ML for being stalkerish and overbearing, I can see how the translation made the original author's writing more heavyhanded in that aspect.

  • Comedy is difficult to translate correctly across languages and what would normally be comedic in a work of fiction can easily be viewed as harrassment if not handled well.
  • For future readers who want to give this a chance, do keep that in mind about the earlier scenes. The ML is not a s*xual harrasser and I personally found the friendship/ relationship between protagonists very healthy and wholesome.
For readers who criticized the MC and ML for not acting their age...

  • Being a mature "adult" doesn't mean that one has to be serious all the time. I've seen people in their 20s and 30s act similarly between friends; that's the charm of friendships. You don't have to act "mature" around close friends if you don't want to, you can have fun in different ways without being judged for it.
  • Nevertheless, it's true that the MC and ML frequently hang up on each other, block each other on social media, and fake anger/pranks etc.
  • I've seen real life hilarious friendships interact the same way, so I didn't think it was unrealistic (though the frequency is definitely exaggerated in this novel for comedic reasons), but if the above is not your jam, then you should skip this novel.
A couple of things that were not my jam:

  • So much face-slapping. I didn't mind this for random netizens, classmates, etc. because it was humorous and interesting, but the super crazy ML family antics just dragged on and on and on...
  • Literally things go from "oh that's awful" to "holy sh*t they must be aliens from outer space" and the IQ of cannon fodder villains related to the ML's family just get worse and worse and the random shit/people that get pulled are also super intense and drag on, and it becomes as convoluted as an international crime ring.
  • The translation doesn't have any proper page breaks, so you'll have lovey-dovey MC x ML one sentence and then crazy sh*t like comas, drugging patients, in the next sentence, so it's very abrupt and ruins the pacing of the novel.

Otherwise, if you like a novel about adorable fluffy domestic husbands, showbiz/celebrities, and how the MC gets famous and becomes an amazingly respected photographer, this is a great story.

The translation isn't bad, it does a good job on converting many of the idioms into English. However, due to the fast speed of releases, there are a lot of errors, including mixed up grammar, tenses, and switching character names in the action. The tone for the translation is also not on point, which can cause misunderstandings with readers and the original chapters are split into 3-4 parts, which also causes some unnatural breaks to the original story's flow. <<less

ALRIGHT! This novel gives a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT vibe in MTL than the translation. I'm glad I picked it up again.

The MC loses the last thing left by his parents - a phone that jas their texts - becuase of one the ML'S pranks. Although the ML didn't mean to do so, he felt genuinely guilty for the first time and we see a change in his attitude from this time. He also starts realizing his feelings little by little.

The romance took some time to develop. And the streching of the story can be painful at times. There are a lot of positives in their relation though. They're not always joined at the hip. They have their own careers to focus on and they give importance to that despite the ML'S clingy nature. Even the reason for that clinginess has been explained to us. Another good point is that the ML was very respectful towards MC's wishes when it came to intimacy. I know that it's not a special ability, but I'm tired of always seeing MLs forcing their libido onto the MCs. Moreover, the progression in their relationship was comparatively natural, especially after the MC figured out his feelings.

What I do find excessive is the diabetes inducing sweetness in the later half of the novel. But I can't stop reading, I NEED the SUGAR! 🤤

TL;DR: overall good. Doggy ML x cat-like MC 😜 too much dogfood!

Review at ch 35 (MTL)

I've read the 8 translated chapters and MTLed through ch 35. This is a good read honestly. The relationship building is done quite well. There's no "love at first sight" bullshit, though the ML does feel something special for the MC since the beginning but it's not necessarily love. It takes quite a long time for him to understand his own feelings.

As for the MC, upto ch 35 where I've left it in the MTL, he is still quite clueless about his emotions. The ML has a sudden epiphany though, after a certain type of dream he has regarding the MC... cough... smexy dreams... cough...

The MC and ML are also interesting because they're not the so called OP protagonists. (Although the ML is quite powerful and strategic, the MC is basically depending on his previous decade-long experience and talent. He's still not too OP though.) The side characters are interesting but I wish some characters were explored more since they have a lot of potential. Maybe it happens later on in the novel, so treat my view with a pinch of salt.

I could've written this after I was done with the whole novel but I REALLY wanted to rate this and give a review. I'm also starting to lose my patience with the MTL. So, I'm desperately hoping for the translator to start translating again. Or I hope someone else picks it up. Anyways, will give you updates if I can finish the MTL. <<less

The story focused on two things : MC ML relationship, and ML's life. But it's relies more at ML's life which is full of revenge. MC 'trip' to the past basically is to help ML. Either to help his career or help his private life. At the end of the story, MC often go back and forth to the present and past. It's quite confusing with mtl, but I know that either ML from the past or present will have a good closure.

Yeah, the present ML maybe won't die. He dreams that he met MC, but he doesn't remember it when he woke up. But he still feels a special feeling when he meet MC later. Those timeline is before he died. So it's a possibility he won't die. The story finished after that though. But it's still a relief.

This was so much fun! Interesting characters, actual challenges for the ML instead of the usualrich, powerful ML and an MC that seems so adult, yet some how cute at the same time. Looking forward to more chapters!!

Give it a try. They are some mixed reviews for this novel. For me the plot, the character development is A+. The MC is just clueless on why he got rebirth. The ML from the moment he met MC is just hilarious, so childish. There are chapter that make me laughing and giggling. There are also chapters that make me cried.

Be patient reading this however. There are missing chapters although it numbered. It's kinda a bummer.

I don't really mind the story, very slow start but it's not like I'm looking for something so good. I'm just looking for something to read. ML is incredibly immature and I don't really understand him most of the time, but I assume he just want MC's attention. MC is cute hehehee, not really acting someone who had rebirth but it's fine. The dealbreaker is the translation. I read some review that by ch 40 you'll really find the groove, well I don't how they thought... more>> so because it starts in ch 40 where the chapters' tl got bad. The cut of every ch is a hassle but it's bearable. However I hate that by ch 40, there are missing parts. I don't get how each ch is connected so I'm dropping it 🤧 <<less

I really like this author! this is the 2nd of their novels I have read. They are really good at writing relationships and not so stereotypical MC and ML. I read raws from c9 onwards as I refuse to torture myself with MTL.

This pair of lovebirds is super teeth rotting fluffy sweet. I love their personalities and how the ML slowly evolves from a childish person to someone who strives to be better. The romance is just dumping sugar on the readers. It's even stated on the content page of... more>> the raws that this is a sweet story. and. it. delivers!

Also, this is an entertainment story not about acting but photography. There are still acting bits as the ML is an actor. Those bits only take up maybe 2% of the novel. The photography is a huge focus in the story and it isn't OP at all! While he does has talent, it's his 10 years of experience and hard work that help him to move to other area of photography that are not his expertise. While he does become proficient, he does not instantly become top of his field (except in landscape photography as that was his bread and butter). By the end of novel (not including the extras), MC is more of a great all rounder.

There is a RL photographer, who I admire deeply, who took photos for big international magazines in their early/mid 20s. So I knew it is 100% possible for what MC experienced to be possible (albeit his progression and earning are quite exaggerated, haha the wedding photography salary... -.-) As someone (read: untalented) who used to dabble in photography, this novel is just fabulous to read. The face slapping is just icing on top of a diabetic inducing cake. <<less

A 30 year old independent man becomes a sassy « puppy « after being sent back to his 20 - a self sufficient sharp start becomes a childish lover - the interactions between the main characters is painful, from misunderstandings to bickering to sassy babying, all is so ridiculous that it ruins a nice concept (reborn to save the victim of a mu*der he witnessed)

add to that sordid family with vitriol in their veins, plots lies and mu*der attempts, unbearable greed, followed by a repulsive vengeance - one of... more>> the villains is a mere teenager - that is a lot of evil - not cute, not fun, not even entertaining

the whole thing is a plea for less is more - but also more background and meanings would have filled the story with substance - the photographer rise could have been richer, he could have learned more instead of being an instant genius, and the relationships could have more development outside of the internet scope <<less

This novel is super cute! He Bai (MC) gets thrown back a good ten years into the past without understanding why, somehow meets Qiuhe (ML) within the first week and from then on, it was fate! Their interactions are super cute, all the secondary and even tertiary characters are well fleshed out. You get to know and feel for the roommates, the assistants, the clientele He Bai meets, etc. One thing I was really impressed with was the technicalities. He Bai is a professional landscape photographer in his past life... more>> and in his "redo" he learns how to do portrait photography. With the reader, we learn a lot of technical aspects, lighting, technology, etc regarding photography. Normally with character careers, the authors usually don't go into details. It kind of made me want to try out with a camera myself, lol.

There's barely any angst, and any struggles the characters go through gets resolved quickly. Perhaps too quickly for some readers who are looking for their characters to undergo pain and suffering. I'm very happy with the story's progress though, when I escape into a novel, especially one set in modern times, I don't want to read any angst and pain. Just fluff and lots of face-slapping. <<less

However, from what I've seen... this novel has the capacity to be really, really good. It was interesting so far when I was reading it, and had a lovely cp.

But the current translator is kinda... lacking. Better off mtl-ing.

This is one of a novels that I revisit ever so often. There is something about MC that invites you to take a second look.. Be it's his professionalism, passion for photography, his patience with ML, MC truly stands out amongst all the main characters I've even read.

Though this is a Rebirth novel, this does not involve over the top face slap, revenge or scheming. This is more of a self discovery story for ML and MC. ML because this is the first time in his life he has been... more>> made a priority. Though he is bit childish, MC truly respects him, understand his tumultuous past and stands by him. And as for MC, this life is about rewriting himself and like a gentle wave, he learns to embrace friendship, love and passion for life. <<less

The book itself is great but the translator cut some stuff seemingly at random. The final extra is missing a bunch of important paragraphs at the end and some of the earlier chapters randomly have paragraphs or sentences cut. There’s one TV series where every time it’s mentioned the name is cut. Otherwise it’s great, aside from some cut paragraphs the TL is much better than the MTL. I’d just keep the MTL open to cross reference if the scene suddenly switches or something that was never mentioned before suddenly... more>> comes up. <<less

I... don't know about this one, chief. It may be the translation (which is poorly edited MTL, it seems like) not conveying the tone of the characters properly, but I found myself getting really frustrated with the MC.

I don't have any problems with henpecked, doting MLs, but when it feels like the ML is the only one in love, it becomes a problem. I get that HB is supposed to be a little bit of a tsundere, acts-of-service-as-my-love-language type of character, but it really comes across as if he's only... more>> tolerating the ML.

He gets mad when DQH lies/hides information from him, but on their first Valentine's together, he didn't even give DQH the decency of informing him that he'll be in another country working that day! While DQH finds a way around this regardless, it just feels like a testament to HB valuing work over his lover, despite saying otherwise.

For a romance novel, there isn't really any natural romance if there is little reciprocation. When HB and DQH do get together, it feels contrived, since all we see HB do is rooted in getting mad at DQH and/or being sorry for him. What a bummer. <<less

Huhuhu He Baaiiii! Di Qihueeeee! Why so soon! I'm gonna miss you!

THIS STORY IS REALLY SO GOOD! THE BEST! HOW I WISH THEY TRANSLATE IT BETTER! If ever they translate it again I'll read it again! Huhuhu I really love this story! It didn't have any 3rd party drama or any dramatic scenes but it's funny on its own way. I love how He Bai at Di Qihue interact with each other. I hope I could fine someone like this two have. I hope for everyone's happiness.

I've read this before and I didn't put a review here in NU as I didn't read it here but I was so shocked seeing it's not so high ratings and some negative reviews. Im only here to defend and assert that this book was one of the best BL rebirth stories out there. I've read a lot of BLs and I have forgotten most of them already but this one still live in my mind, there are scenes that was still vivid in my head indicating how I love... more>> this book back then. Especially the extras, god that was good.

It's been months or years since I've read this and I may not be detailed on my review. I'm just here to ask everyone discouraged to read this book from the other not so good reviews to read it again or start reading it without prejudice and judge it after you finish it.

I remember how bizarre it was for the MC to rebirth when his life was fine but in fact in it's essence a lot of it was missing. I love how the rebirth bridge a lot of possibilities of what could have been a beautiful and worth it love story between to person who never really connected from the previous timeline. The two of them has full of fluffy moments and I love how their love story was not just a sudden thing but something that has head and a tail and was destined to happen.

The characters was good though some may say they're generic but in fact they're well made and they were stable on its foundation.

Just don't take this as something as monumental or life changing book that transcend the standards of book. It followed some tropes but still make a niche of it's own. For something that some may have read as common as other books, this was still a standard of it's own and don't worry it's not similar to other books progression and has a tinge of predictability. It's still can be called distinct and uncommon, it's just that love can take form in the basest of actions, that made it more like the same with others. But in a nutshell it's still different as this was their story.
