Every year on this day, Fu Ye would go to a dessert shop and buy a small cake. Even a few of his friends couldn’t help teasing him, asking if he had purposely changed his birthday to this date.

Fu Ye just stayed silent, as always, saying nothing. Every year, he’d make a different wish.

Shen Yushang cut a small piece of cake and placed it on a plate. After hesitating for a few seconds, he scooped off all the cream with a spoon, then gently pushed the plate toward Fu Ye and asked, “What about you?”

“Do you remember my birthday?”

“I do.” He had always remembered. Fu Ye wasn’t lying. He lowered his voice and stared at the side of Shen Yushang’s face, a little entranced. “Happy 24th birthday. I wish you smooth sailing in everything, and that all your wishes come true.”

“Thank you.” Shen Yushang tapped his chin lightly with his fingertip. “I wish the same for you.”
