Song Ran is an illustrator for children’s books. He has pastel arts, a pastel personality, and a pastel life. One day, he met four-years-old Bubu. Bubu and his father, who has an A+ for success, wealth, and looks, but an F- for childcare, stumble into Song Ran’s world just like that. When fairy tales meet a lonely child, when warm-toned 8012A meets cool-toned 8012B; this is a story about family and love.

From Chapter 1 to Chapter 32, this book was amazing all throughout, it's so high quality that I don't dare even call it BL!

It has a balanced realistic approach to problems and certain themed events in the story, we not only see the MC and ML confront, argue and interact as though they are normal people (which they are!) but we also get to experience a whirlwind of fluff and angst, a complex bout of various relationships.

A well balanced meal that is sure to stuff you again and again!

This... more>> is a hard to find gem in child-rearing themed stories. A diamond in the rough. The characters in the story all have their flaws and while there are complaints about the fast paced acquaintance to dating part, once you read the story carefully, there are reasonable explanations to this. Far more reasonable than any other bl novel, that's for sure. Mind you, while they may have started dating, they've just started liking one another and getting to know one another. The characters themselves are aware of that too and they are willing to work out this relationship and care for the kid.

Things I liked:
Spoiler

Unlike some or most stories involved with the theme of child-bearing in BL, this as well as a small few were able to do it with satisfaction. One, the child isn't just some decoration in the story for you to awe and coo at. Second, the two are genuinely concerned and centered around the child and it never feels as though the kid is just some accessory for the two protagonists to get together. Third, the child, among the other characters, is just as well written. The translator and author are certainly a beautiful duo for being able to convey such a vivid description of the child's woes and joys.

Like Song Ran, I can see myself in that child and although our circumstances were similar and unlike the MC, I don't think I could ever provide the child the affection he needed, it makes me so glad and happy that they tackled the problem at the root and are working to give the child a proper home and love for years to come. I would never want to see him turn like me and neither does Song Ran.

The relationships in this story is very diverse and so is it's portrayal of different persons. You can't say one of them is wrong without thinking deeply of their own reasons for their actions. I also love how they tackled LGBTQ and also give clarification on our characters orientation. Song Ran is gay, He Zhiquang is bis**ual, Carl Kraus is gay, Li Jun and her wife are lesbians, Li Hua and Dr. Zhen are our token straights. It's so so so so refreshing from the innumerable opaque unclear pictures that BL traditionally portrays and I am happy to see more of this.

Current conflict:
Spoiler

Currently, we are now introduced to three new characters: Li Jun, her girlfriend (wife?) and their daughter, Ashley. Here we find the origins of Bubu and his biological mother. It's explained in the recent chapters I have read but, basically the reason why they didn't just go to a s*erm bank was because Li Jun's lover is very religious, believing that bringing life to world has to be done through the traditional way. While I agree with the comments going on about how dumb the two were for this decision, I don't particularly blame them. The woman was raised in a religious background and even though she is out of the closet, she still follows those customs which doesn't surprise me why she wanted to do it the more troublesome route.

I could explain some more, but this will just turn into an essay. I'm not defending her and Li Jun's actions, but I can't hate them so suddenly just because of this, how could I hate these two people when they willingly faced it together, through hardship and in sickness, they willingly splurged their money for Ashley. Heck, they didn't hesitate, admitted their crime, and asked for help from He Zhiquang to raise Bubu when they must have known they could never get him back after. They made a mistake and they willingly paid the price for it, that is highly admirable all on its own.

In short, this is a story you should savor, properly read and experience, page for page, word for word. If you are used to skimping through details, this novel isn't for you but if you are willing to, be my guest. The translator and author are amazing and while I can't show my support for them, I hope some of you can.

As for me, I will patiently await for the next chapter, even if eight hundred years pass me by. 5/5 <<less

It is really one of the most amazing novels I ever see

some reviews spoke about how the ML wound the MC at the beginning 😕

Spoiler

I think it's the normal way to act if someone deals like that without understanding me and my lifestyle, with his annoying, and about 3 days of acquaintance.

Furthermore, the ML has apologized for his mistake after understanding the actions he has done.

I know that the MC has a harmful past but the ML has one too, so they have an understandable plot, Reasonable.

anyway, it is a fluffy woolen, rich with beauty, and full of dog food.
