“Did I leave any room for you, Yeon-hee?” Jung-hoon clicked his tongue, looking at her as if she were pitiable.

“When I pretend to be your boyfriend, you smile. It’s that simple.”

Yeon-hee had believed her unrequited love for Team Leader Min Jung-hoon was genuine. She had hidden her true feelings deep inside, knowing that revealing them would mean the end, yet even her desperate love eventually faced a fracture.

“Jeong Yeon-hee, today is the last day. Once I turn away, it’s really over.”

“I’m sorry, Team Leader, but the end already happened a long time ago.”

She was now ready to completely let go of him.

maybe it's the petty spiteful bit*h in me but I'm on the ML's side & I'm kind of mad the author made him chase her in the end. The FL is an idiot, anyone with half a brain could tell he was mad that she slept with him (and mind u it was both their first times here), called him tr*sh bc of her own assumptions, then left the country the next morning & left $10 on the table and then has the audacity to like him when they meet... more>> again & he's rich and successful but she doesnt recognize him. I'd f*ckin hate her ass too lmao she didnt even apologize, just keeps feeling pity for herself and being upset he essentially is treating her the way she treated him then. Like girl just say ur sorry wtf??? 😭 esp knowing he already liked her then I'm 100% on his side. The story is not bad as is but it would have been infinitely more interesting if when she'd found out it turned into a husband chasing crematorium instead. If u love him so much then put in the work for it girl! Its very stereotypical <<less

Chiming in because I have to disagree with the other review here. Without spoling too much, I have to say I included the Misunderstandings tag to this because the ML and FL in the beginning have different ideas about what their relationship is and that is where the conflict - the angst - comes from. Personally, it's not the type of situation where I feel like one of them has significantly more fault than the other (like in other angst stories where one of them cheats) but I wouldn't consider... more>> the ML to be the pitiful one in the relationship nor would I consider the FL an idiot.

I will detail it in under the spoiler tag here:

Spoiler

It's very clear from the beginning that it was the ML the FL had a one night stand with years before. The ML tried to snarkily jog her memory, but since she was drunk and the look and attitude of the ML now have become so different - she really doesn't remember that it was him. The ML is pissed off and in the beginning it's obvious to us as the reader that he's trying to get back at her. They get into a casual relationship but then ML brings her on dates, makes her feel special, as if the relationship is more than just physical. FL starts falling for him even after finding out the truth but ML is still very clearly annoyed at her and says some heartless things to demean her feelings, hence the need for him to win her back once she's finally had enough.

I will say though, the way the story played out, it does feel as if they failed to address a few of the points of their past which were very frustrating.

They never had a real conversation to clear up some of the misunderstandings.

When the FL found out about his identity, she felt betrayed. Then the ML said they can just pretend to forget about it and continue what they're doing. He was constantly like: "what's the big deal?" Maybe things would have been different if he had confronted her and the FL could explain her side of the story. Because honestly, besides leaving money behind, I don't see what the FL did as something that he needed to get revenge on. Of course she wouldn't remember! She was drunk - she didn't even want to remember!

ML was obviously affected by her not remembering their true first time meeting but they were constantly interrupted and the conversation never ended up happening. We were just fed a flashback and that was it.

One of the mean things he had told her was "if you want to date then whatever, but marriage would be difficult" and I honestly wish the author had explored that before suddenly letting us know that two years after she forgave him, they got married. Also, why couldn't we have a gotten a proposal scene?

[collapse]

This is the kind if story you will enjoy if you like the tropes it includes. The office romance with a typically dominant and possessive ML who has a sweet side to him. The grovelling ML who only wants the FL. <<less
