In the year 4057 of the New Era, Bastet dies in a research accident. As compensation, the national AI, Zuma, grants him a chance to be reborn.
Before his rebirth, Zuma cheerfully promises:
“To make up for your loss, your new life will be one of luxury, with food and shelter guaranteed. You will be worshiped by thousands, seen as the living embodiment of a god. Then, after his rebirth, Bastet desperately claws his way down from a certain Pharaoh’s lap.
Bastet: “That damn AI scammed me! I want to go home! Waaah!”

Spoiler though: the MC had to undergo a very brutal way of death "starvation". He had to die first to gain a human body, and his death is partly due to the ML's carelessness.
