I first lost it when she let her pride hinder Madam Li's investigation. Like her detoxification machine traced nothing, her comrades warned her, and she KNEW that members of the Northern Spies were exceptionally well-versed in poison. Yet despite all these warnings, she risked letting Madam Li get away for the sake of her bet with whatever the other girl's name is. Like everything was done for the public eye in public. She literally solved the problem with sheer luck. If she failed, what was she gonna do? I mean, even if that did happen, the ML would've just solved all the problems because his precious weifei is hurt-whether he understood or not ??.

I was able to calm down a bit after that because she won nevertheless. But now, she's accepting a proposal to have a drinking competition against two experienced guys. Of course, it wasn't a "proposal" proposal but rather peer-pressure. Even so, can't she refuse by reminding everyone that she's ALREADY MARRIED? Like I don't understand what can go wrong if she says: I am already married and am living in a RESPECTABLE HOUSEHOLD and shall conduct myself as so unlike the rest of you unfilial crowd. Like to admit that she can't drink would be advantageous to her in this situation. Even if the Princess would pressure her, she can say that she is 1) no longer unmarried like the rest of them and is bound to unwritten moral laws or 2) passively- aggressively criticize everyone for being "loose". Literally what I already said.

But what will ML do? The indifference is coming from all his pressures and goal in life. Besides, MC is someone the empress dowagar forced onto him so he wouldn't immediately put his guard down. He is someone who has ideals and goals as high as the mountain so he knew he shouldn't be distracted by some love and affection. But he still fell. And boy when he fell, he was insane for his jealousy that he couldn't help. That even when he found out (actually he was one of the first few people who confirmed) that MC is his mortal enemy -- heir of the clan who owed blood to their East Qin, he just smiled and kept it to himself, determined not to let her know and bury all the evidence so she wouldn't hate him and leave him (alright besides, the transmigrator MC also didn't really want to keep revive a dead dynasty at first) and was working real hard to not tell a soul that the one they have been looking for to kill is actually his wife.

Anyway, what I love are the moments when the ML loses control because of MC. Because he was not someone who is like that. He generally plans for everything and has a lot of Plan Bs to the last letter of the alphabet. But suddenly, he couldn't explain what he felt when she ran away. So I don't know why people were saying that MC has no self-respect. Because when she felt already realized that she likes him and found that her feelings won't be returned, she actually dared to run away because she is someone who won't throw her pride for a man who won't explain why ML, as someone who supposedly treats all women with indifference, suddenly treats another woman better-- his shimei.

And ML went mad he scoured the whole continent to find her and from here their feelings gradually developed. I don't want to spoil everything but the little angst whenever they have some misunderstanding were all good.
