For seven years of marriage, Feng Tingshen treated Rong Ci with icy indifference. Yet she kept smiling through it all—because she loved him deeply and clung to the hope that one day, she might warm his heart.

But what she received instead was his love at first sight for another woman, Lin Wu. She watched as he doted on this new obsession. Still, Rong Ci clung to their crumbling marriage.

On her birthday, she flew across oceans to reunite with him and their daughter, Feng Jingxin, only to find he’d taken their child to comfort Lin Wu instead, leaving Rong Ci alone in their empty villa.

That night, her last ember of hope died.

When even the daughter she’d raised begged to call Lin Wu “Mother,” Rong Ci felt no pain. She drafted divorce papers, relinquished custody, and walked away without looking back—cutting all ties with Feng Tingshen and Feng Jingxin as she awaited the finalized divorce.

Free from her suffocating marriage, she rebuilt her career. The woman once dismissed by high society soon amassed a fortune surpassing billions.

Yet while her divorce remained unsettled, the aloof CEO who’d once avoided home now haunted her doorstep with increasing desperation.

When she confronted him about the delay, Feng Tingshen—cold, imperious, and utterly unyielding—cornered her: “Divorce? That’s impossible.”

Normally, I enjoy the trope of a strong but silent genius. Especially if the character is a woman that has these traits, but people take her for granted until the day she leaves. I was all geared up for the FL to cut ties within the first 50~100 chapters (with or without the child) as long as we have some satisfying face-slapping. And, to give the author credit, there are multiple people introduced that need a countrified smack down... so why - after 80 chapters?!? - am I still getting... more>> introduced to people that need common sense inserted.

Spoiler

I read one of the earlier reviews and found that the divorce agreement won't be signed for another 100+ chapters?!

Chile bye!! Heck, the teacher is messaging the FL about the unknown woman and all she says is "this is fine". At some points, it feels like her husband is deliberately antagonizing her to get a rise but she more logical than the AIs that she builds!

Because of this (unspoken and unknown to me) event, FL feels that she shouldn't/can't say anything against her husband as she has no right to because of it.
Spoiler

Possibly a drugged r*pe event where she was the one blamed for it, even though she was probably also a victim. More than likely by the ML's grandmother as she did give them both medicine at one point to "push them together".

[collapse]

The new assistant that took over for FL was surprised at how much time, energy, and effort were put in for someone who supposedly got the position through 'connections'. Do we expand upon that? No. Brief mention in the beginning that hints at the FL's impact in her husband's work life.

How about the discovery that most, if not all, of the skills that the side chick has - so does our girl. But better! Are we going to break away from the negative factors in her life to fully shine? No? We're just gonna gloss over those details as the people (that should be the closest to her) are unaware of what she can do. Okay... *Pained smile*

I'm not going to bash the child as children are a product of their environment. She spent several years overseas with her father and - as she wouldn't have a fully developed understanding of right and wrong - doesn't understand that Mommy can get hurt by her actions just like she can. Does that mean that she is fully innocent in all this? Not really, no. But beefing with a kid that hasn't even reached puberty is beneath me.

This isn't a love story or a woman 'coming into her strengths/talents'. Someone wrote an amazing synopsis that we hoped to see come to fruition within the novel but, so far, I feel like this may have cured my chronically low blood pressure. To the author, I wish you well and hope that your future series aren't as cumbersome as this one. To my fellow audience, I shall take a bow and leave with the remnants of my sanity. Farewell! <<less

I seriously need to vent—this novel is driving me up the wall. I'm already 240 chapters in, and there's still barely any real progress. The female lead divorced her husband after he got way too close to another woman, but the timeline of the supposed cheating is still maddeningly unclear. What's worse is his infuriating behavior—he hasn't given the FL any explanation, nor has he made any effort to clarify the situation. Instead, he just sits back and lets everyone believe that the other woman is his real girlfriend. No... more>> one even knows he was ever married to the FL, and his silence only fuels public support for the other woman.

What's most frustrating is how the FL, despite everything she's endured, still hasn't had a single satisfying moment to stand up for herself. She hasn't confronted the other woman, nor has she had a proper scene to reclaim her dignity. I'm only holding on at this point because I'm desperately hoping she'll eventually get that powerful, face-slapping moment she truly deserves.

To make things worse, the people surrounding the other woman are insufferable—blindly supporting her and completely oblivious to the truth. Even the FL's own child seems to prefer the other woman simply because she offers more freedom, unlike her mother who actually tries to set boundaries and be a responsible parent. The child doesn't even know her parents are divorced; she just thinks her mom moved out for work, which makes it all the more heartbreaking and frustrating.

Honestly, I just want to see the ex-husband and the child wake up and realize the damage they've caused. They deserve to regret everything. I'm so tired of seeing the FL suffer in silence while the ones who wronged her continue living blissfully unaware. <<less

I just hope MC just goes single and never look back, I'm tired of seeing her being so spineless and sad.

ML (The father of MC's kid, hope it's not actually him and the author is just baiting in the sypnosis) is just as an a-hole as he can get, he's not slick, not charming or have any redeeming qualities other than treating his daughter alright. After all the suffering he put MC through, nothing can justify them getting back together with his zipped mouth. Unless he's just faking it and... more>> will ruin that other woman's life and family out of his *checks tags* "obsessive love" for MC, even so... Doesn't justify any of his actions.

I read all up to chapter 250 and the ML hasn't explained anything, everything is built off one misunderstanding that the author utilized way too much so that everyone in this story thinks he's dating the other woman, he also KNOWS for a fact that he looks like and acts like a cheater, but others don't know that bc they kept their marriage almost like a secret.

The built up to what will eventually happen is already unrewarding by the fact that the author is dragging this "cheating" plot point for so so so so so so long that everytime you read that ML went out of his way to prioritize the other woman over MC again for the #9173747939291 time with the story barely progressing, you just don't feel anything.

Not to mention, the romance in this is quite literally non-existent, so might as well write a non-cp story about MC's growth at this point. You can never see MC and ML having any communication or chemistry bc 90% of the time it's them ignoring each other or ML focusing on the other woman.

If I could, I would put minus stars but I missclicked.

Update as of July 11th, chapter 324:

Spoiler

THEY STILL HAVEN'T DIVORCED. This is not even funny anymore, everything happening within the past 100+ chapters have been nothing but boring plot points that drags or literally doesn't conclude to anything. FL is still the same but she's going through the cycle of caring for her career and sometimes her daughter while the ML repeating delaying the divorce for really not that important reasons.

There are also other male characters that have feelings/crush on FL but that doesn't lead to anything bc guess what? SHE ISN'T DIVORCED.

Don't expect any intimacy from the ML either, he's a block of wood, he's not even accidentally intimate to the other woman and he sure won't do anything with FL, all of his screentime is him being the most uncharismatic, boring ML to date, all his actions and reactions don't seem to have any care for anything in life, there's also no signs of a hidden side of him.

What I'm seeing here is that the author really doesn't write any of the characters' thoughts or even a personality, really, I'm serious, the ML is the worst case, you can replace him with a cardboard cutout and it would've been more interesting.

I can read long stories no problem, but this novel has literally nothing going on, NOTHING FOR SO LONG.

Judging by the few reviews so far, it seems like this your usual sadistic Chinese author making the main character suffer with the chapters going round and round with no sense of direction or progress, just trying to milk and squeeze the misunderstanding. I'll put this on a stranglehold for now. 200+ chapters of dragging BS with equally shitty third rate antagonists tr*shing down the MC who remains a pushover ain't really my cup of tea. I'm not a fan of instant gratification and karmic retribution but I pretty much... more>> despise pointless suffering.

Also:

Spoiler

I wish I could throw her daughter to an orphanage and have her (ex) husband get run over by a truck. That's how much I hate them. The third rate mobs? Surprisingly, they are way more tolerable.

I knew I fcking read this same plot before, just in English!

Context: MC divorced her cold husband because he is openly in love with her half-sister, and their daughter hates her mother and prefers the half-sister. MC drafted a divorce paper and left it with him, thinking that he will see it and sign it immediately. It didn't go well as planned because it took the husband 150 chapters before he saw the divorce papers and signed them without much emotion.

As for MC, she's spineless but grew some after her... more>> divorce. She returned back to the company she founded along with her friend (who I very hope to be the ML). She's also once the inventor of a computer language that even the military are interested in. According to the friend, the ex husband is roughly as talented as him, but he wholeheartedly admitted that MC is even more talented than him. Sister wants to join the friend's company for their language (AI for electric cars) but MC told him no so he rejected her resume.

Since the divorce, the husband acted erratic. MC couldn't predict his next actions. While you might think he is hesitating with the divorce, around the same time he introduced the half-sister to the world as his new wife. I'm at roughly 250 chapter and the daughter still doesn't know about the divorce. She's oblivious at their divorce but noticed that her mother spent less and less time with her, even not answering her phone calls anymore, unless she calls her grandmother who lives with her mother.

As for the white lotus, as far as I'm concerned, she's not confrontational. She's calculating but not obnoxious. She's concerned with their family's business. The more annoying are those people around her. <<less
