After failing to transmigrate to a proper cultivation world, Lin Zhengran woke up to find himself as a little kid… in kindergarten.

With no other choice, he decides to fool the system by pretending to cultivate.

[Today, you encountered a fairy descending the mountain. You must find a way to obtain the Pure Yang Elixir in her hand.]

Lin Zhengran looked at the milk candy in his childhood friend’s hand.

“Give me the candy. Do you need to go to the restroom? I’ll call the teacher for you.”

The little girl, confused and innocent, handed the candy to Lin Zhengran.

“Here’s the candy…”

[Congratulations! Without lifting a blade or striking a blow, you successfully obtained the Pure Yang Elixir from the fairy!]

Ok. I finished this on MTL. It is a good one. Nice Harem slice of life story. Our protagonist gets a system which thinks he is in a cultivation world but he is in the modern world so he pretty quickly gets OP. However unlike other CN MCs he doesn't use his powers for face slapping or nationalism or other s*upid stuff.. He just wants to live a good life with the people he loves.

Then there are the heroines, each has their own personality and their own reasons to like... more>> the MC. They are a bit too accepting of the harem so not much Shura field like you would see in drama heavy stories but I personally don't mind since this story has a lighthearted tone and that helps maintain that. There aren't many crisis situations in the plot so it feels very fluffy to read their interactions with the MC as they slowly develop their relationships.

Give it a read if you want a sweet romantic harem story to let you relax. The TL is very good so you can just kick back and chill and enjoy. <<less

The plot get weaker and the main cast become more pathetic

Spoiler

MC is no different from the typical clueless romcom MC, he knows the heroines feeling, but he doesn't really respond. And when he does eventually, he doesn't set any boundary with other women, this is worse than just being dense, this is being a s*umbag. Either be a clueless mf or be a womaniser, don't act like you're above everyone, the romance is so ass, there is no equality in these relationships. They desperately love him while he occasionally comforts them so they can continue to trap themselves in their own illusion of a relationship.

The kindergarten and middle school act you can look past as being immature romance, but from highschool and on is just toxic, MC becomes the all rounder cardboard that does not express any emotion and free will beside some slight scoffs, he just goes with whatever the heroines want.

The heroines are npcs/accessories that 95% of the time only want to impress MC, none of them can talk back to MC, even if they have a reason to, they just blame it on each other or themselves, this is more than just being submissive, this is straight up insecurity because the author made MC so op

Even if this novel doesn't have the over the top caricatures, it's still a wish fulfillment, the slow and mild plot is both its pros and cons,

Cons: it gets boring when the characters grow up as real life do, but it's also become slightly unrealistic because the author had to drag it out

Pros: easy to enjoy, at its worst it's still better than the average chinese wish fulfillment, no character is outstandingly annoying

So far this novel is really cute to me. It is what it says on the tin, MC gets a semi-dysfunctional system that thinks he is in a cultivation world and candies are elixirs. Except they really do improve his strength. The kindergarten arc didn't last that long we are already into roughly the middle part of first grade.

Misunderstandings seem like they will be present between MC and female leads so that may be a turn off for some.

It's pretty rare to come across a Chinese wish fulfillment novel that actually feels this well-made and emotionally satisfying. A lot of these kinds of stories tend to fall into the same patterns: an arrogant protagonist, over-the-top power-ups, and relationships that feel shallow or rushed. But this one really breaks away from that formula. What sets it apart right away is how surprisingly grounded the main character is. He's humble, thoughtful, and emotionally mature even at a young age. He's also not dense. Instead of acting like a c*cky genius... more>> or cold-hearted loner, he carries himself like a young adult who knows how to reflect, adapt, and treat people around him with basic respect. It feels like the story is trying to tell something more than just "look how strong and cool the protagonist is, " and that's really refreshing.

The premise is already unique: the protagonist finds himself in kindergarten and decides to fake his way through life by "cultivating", since his original plan of transmigrating into a true cultivation world failed. That alone makes for some hilarious and creative moments. For example, he convinces a classmate to give him candy, the system calling it a "Pure Yang Elixir" granted by a descending fairy. Moments like these are just plain funny, but what's nice is that the story doesn't rely on jokes alone. It mixes that humor with a surprising amount of warmth and character development. It starts off playful, sure, but it gradually shifts in tone as the characters age. That change in tone feels really natural, and it mirrors how the characters themselves are growing up.

The pacing of the story is also really solid. It doesn't just speed through time jumps or throw in random drama for shock value. Instead, it takes its time letting the relationships breathe and evolve. One of the strongest parts of the novel is definitely the romance. The way it's written feels honest and sweet, without being cheesy or over-the-top. Each of the heroines has a clear and distinct personality. They aren't just there to fall in love with the protagonist because the plot demands it (Okay, maybe sometimes, but not most of the time). They have their own quirks, strengths, and ways of interacting with him, and what's great is how well they all balance each other out. Their relationships aren't just there for fanservice, they genuinely complement one another in the way they communicate and support each other as they grow.

Every interaction feels meaningful, especially the dialogues. There's a sense of rhythm to the conversations that makes them engaging to read, and none of the scenes drag or feel like filler. It's very obvious the author put thought into how the characters talk and behave around one another. It's heartwarming in a way that doesn't feel forced. You can really see how the friendships and romantic connections slowly deepen, and it's done in a way that feels earned rather than handed to the characters on a silver platter.

The overall tone of the story hits a sweet spot too. It's lighthearted and fun, but it also manages to touch on more thoughtful themes about growth, connection, and understanding others. Even though the world includes cultivation elements, the focus isn't really on fighting or power scaling. It's more about how people treat each other, how bonds are formed over time, and how even in a setting that seems ridiculous on paper, like "cultivating" in modern world without any actual cultivation, there can still be emotional honesty and maturity.

In the end, what really makes this novel work is how it balances everything. It's funny, sweet, and well-paced, but also emotionally grounded. The protagonist isn't the typical arrogant lead, and the story respects the reader enough to let the relationships develop naturally. Whether you're reading it for the humor, the heartwarming moments, or the romance, it delivers on all fronts. It's one of those rare wish fulfillment stories that actually feels like it has heart.

PS. Also, I love BOTI Translations, every novel they tl is constantly being updated, very consistent, respect ✋😔 handsdown

I agree with other reviewers, Wenwen IS best girl. Fox. I kept reading this because of the character dynamics/interaction. The heroines are written very well, especially Wenwen and Fang Wen, those two heroines are my favorite in the entire novel, their character arcs are just so PEAK. <<less

This is really adorable. It starts out as a cute kindergarten and elementary story, then turns into a middle school romcom.

MC actually acts like an adult, not one of those dense af JP harem protagonist. Sure, he's like a Gary Sue, but he's likeable imo. MC's a cool-minded character who's not afraid to act. He makes it clear that he's not romantically interested in children, but it becomes a different story once they're older. Because of that, MC seems like grumpy all the time.

This is a harem story, and they... more>> are like standard JP romcom heroines. The childhood friend, the tsundere, and the vixen. (Idk if there are going to he more). The story actually made made me cheer for a tsundere, which is something that speaks for itself.

More details:

Spoiler

The childhood friend heroine is MC's friend back in kindergarten. She was a shy and reserved girl, prone to be taken advantaged of. MC helped her stand for herself. She takes up Taekwondo, which MC helps improve. She is your bonafide childhood friend type character, extremely loves MC.

The next is the tsundere. She becomes close to MC during his elementary school days as the childhood friend had to move cuz family circumstances. She is tsundere through and through. They get close after MC helps her clear her name when she was framed for stealing something. Honestly, I liked how she was set as a disciplinary committee-like member at first, but then she turns into an idol-to-be. She gets into singing and got scouted by a talent agency with MC's help.

The third is a fox vixen (redundant, I know). She befriended the childhood friend after she moved. She's your stereotypical good-looking popular girl, often described as a fox girl due to her fox-like appearance and personality. Due to family circumstances, MC helps her get her own place (they're like 12, right?) and helps her gain income through streaming (she's like 12, right?). She's your friend of a heroine that fall in love with MC because of fate type of character.

They all get together in middle school.

EDIT: LMAO, it gets even funnier when they enter high school. Three new characters gets introduced. MC's childhood engagements. Yes, plural. His gramps made a childhood engagement with his friend. A competitive want-to-be-at-the-top rich girl, same age as MC. However, the original engagement was supposed to be with the rich girl's older sister. With this deliberate setting, you know what will happen. And, the rich girl's friend/servant, whom MC's parents and her parents made a childhood engagement with.

[collapse]

Also, this is not a cultivation story. There is no martial arts whatsoever. As I said, this is more romcom with the dysfunctional system (who thinks it's a cultivation world) just helping MC get along with the heroines as a bonus. The main flow of the story is MC helping one of the heroine's problem by improving themselves with their talent or situation, and by helping them, the system improves MC in return, which allows him to improve them even better, and so on and so forth.

Honestly, because of this flow, I forget that they're like 12 or something. That's my only complaint. This acts (once they're in middle school) like a highschool romcom. IDK, maybe this is normal in Asia, I grew up in suburban US.

All in all, a good read. Highly recommend if you're interested. <<less

Overall still moderately enjoying it, but it does get weaker later on. The MC was always kind of a Gary Stu but recently he became somewhat ridiculous which took a lot of the fun out.

Spoiler

He evolves his charm stat into an ability (Harmony of All Things) that makes him as good as someone who's spent decades on whatever he's doing. Like, literally *whatever* he does, he'll naturally be as good as someone who's spent 3-4 decades on it.

[collapse]
It's not technically different from before because his sheer stats made him superhuman at everything, but it just felt like way too much. I definitely recommend the start though before he gets too ridiculous, like other reviews said it is quite cute. <<less

Not a Shojo story as written in the tag.

More of a slice of life with some funny encounters.

Super refreshing novel.

... more>> Story about a guy wrongly reincarnated on normal Earth instead of a cultivator/immortal world.

His system thinks he was successfully transmigrated, so he must deal with achieving quest such as receiving a candy (that the system think is an elixir).

Since he's mentally mature, he mostly sticks out of the lot. Obviously, his goal is to achieve the quests, but he ends up helping people around him with their troubles.

(A bit like someone about to take his retirement on an island far from the city, only to somehow end up having to take care of all the kids around the island because the parents arent able to always be there)

Didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did. This is a no real drama, fun plot to read. Its like eating popcorn, but it won't get tiring as there's timeskips which change the flavor from kindergarten to highschool to uni life. So far there's one annoying girl who still hasn't got in the relationship thankfully... but we all know how it would end... hopefully she gets her act right... Other than that Wenwen best ship! All hail fox supremacy! I would say she had the most actual visible... more>> impact on MCs behavior. Now to wait for chapters to come out *sigh* <<less

This is a wierd one to review, its a pretty slow harem buildup but with a respectful MC (he kinda grooms them a bit but its not seemingly intentional so whatever) he's not pe*verted or anything which helps a lot. The cultivation stuff makes him superman in every facet of life and kind of also causes issues with the sheer charisma he has due to it. Most problems he could have are irrelevant due to his strength or ability... more>>
Spoiler

(he instantly has 30 years experience in anything he tries off rip).

[collapse]
The powers are op but the story doesn't really use them often, the story is more akin to a novel about him training the other girls up to be the best at their niche (when its trying to do plot stuff).

The negatives of this novel are the repetitiveness, 190chs in and they still say they love him like every fourth line of an interaction and recently the chapters describe the muscles very often which is getting annoying, wierd wife/gf outlook (the girls are all super subservient to him in a wierd 1700s way after a certain point), girl count
Spoiler

(the original three are fine, and adding more is also ok but the original three still haven't been fully told they are in a polyamourous relationship (wenwen knows, but the other two only know they are in a triplot) it makes the MC feel a bit scummy.

This is especially true as they would all agree anyway because he's so addicting likely due to the charisma stat

[collapse]

Another issue I have inherently with the setup is the charisma thing, basically he becomes a chick magnet and I'm not sure why but it makes the girls feel very Samey on dates or thinking about him in general; you could swap each of the girls thoughts and nothing would change, the last main issue is that the timeframes of stuff is handled very strangely
Spoiler

(time jumps of years where presumably nothing of note happened is insane with the stuff outlined before and after said skips)

[collapse]
. This would be the best part I think if handled properly but its skipped as of now.

The girls are all cute, in a headpat way, I would say they have a lot of depth but they really do not, wenwen feels the best written, but the newer girls seem to be more interesting overall imo.

overall its a decent harem novel with a bit of repetitiveness in structure, girl type, and a system thrown in for shits and giggles. 7/10 closer to 8 then 6 so 4/5 stars <<less

Thank you, author!

Finally, a novel with a character reincarnated as a child who truly acts like an adult.

This is the first novel I've read where you really feel that the MC is an adult reincarnated as a child. He's mature, and throughout the novel, you can really see that he's not the same age as the others.

... more>> Even when he's in high school or college, you can see the difference in maturity compared to the other students.

I also love the fact that, for once, the reincarnated MC isn't interested in children or plotting to make them his wives. He helps them without ulterior motives, and when he sees that they're starting to develop feelings for him, he pushes them away, saying he's not interested in little girls. He doesn't try to take advantage of them, and he doesn't end up bleeding from his nose like a 12-year-old when there's ecchi.

The female characters are quite interesting, even if they sometimes lack depth. I don't know exactly what 16-20-year-old Chinese girls are like, but to me, a Westerner, they seem really immature. So I don't know if it's because they're Chinese or because it's poorly written.

The development of the relationships remains fairly consistent, and the girls (especially Wenwen) are very endearing.

On the plus side:

- The MC. He's mature, intelligent, and possesses real charisma. He has a really cool presence. His way of thinking is logical and consistent throughout the story, and (so far) he's never been hypocritical and has always stuck to his principles. He's a top MC among all the novels I've read.

- The development of the relationships between the MCs and the FMCs. It's consistent; the girls don't fall in love with the MC out of nowhere. There are real reasons, and it moves at a good pace.

- Wenwen and the engaged CEO. They are the two best female characters. They have depth and are truly useful in the story. They are truly interesting.

Cons:

- The MC can do everything thanks to his system, which is a shame because it masks the fact that the MC seems to be very competent on his own.

- Two of the six girls (the rich little sister and the butler) are rather bland and useless. Their personalities are rather bland, and they fall in love out of nowhere. Frankly, they serve no purpose, and the novel would have been better without them.

- The immaturity of the two childhood sweethearts. They are good characters, but their immaturity is quite annoying at times.

- The plot. The plot isn't developed and it's purely a slice of life. There are no real stakes or antagonists. The only attempts to add a semblance of intrigue with the corporate stories aren't particularly successful.

To sum up, it's a quiet slice-of-life romance/harem novel with no plot. In its style, the novel is truly excellent, with a top-notch MC. Don't expect any difficulties with the MC; just enjoy the novel for what it is, and you'll love it. <<less
